The blue areas are referring to general voice and data roaming, not LTE roaming. Although Sprint may one day include in its line up devices that can support roaming on Verizon 700MHz LTE, it will not happen in the next few years. I'm not sure it has to be that way. I use Broadvoice VOIP at home and often run 200ms pings and it works great. You would think that if someone had WiFi in the 200ms ping range or better, they would be able to devise something that worked well with that. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Friday, March 30, 2012 - 1:46 AM MDT What about Phoenix? What about Phoenix? What about Phoenix??? I get asked that every day. Sometimes several times per day! On social media, our forum pages and our chat rooms are filled with Phoenicians and Arizonans who feel they have been more than patient with Sprint awaiting for first 4G WiMax and now just even to hear an announcement on 4G LTE. And here we are, S4GRU.com has announced all of the markets that Sprint has planned for the First Two rounds of Network Vision/LTE deployment. There was no mention of Phoenix in any of those continual announcements. What gives? Officially, Phoenix and its market neighbor Tucson/Yuma are in the Third Round. However, S4GRU.com can reveal to you that the dates for RF Design and backhaul dates for these two markets are significantly earlier than other 3rd Round markets. Additionally, in a Network Vision schedule update S4GRU obtained a few weeks ago, both the Phoenix and Tucson/Yuma markets engineering schedules moved up from previous schedules. Now with the latest schedule updates, the Phoenix and Tucson/Yuma markets engineering and design are only 30 days later than what is shown for the last 2nd Round markets. Whereas 3rd Round markets are typically 4 to 5 months later. However, even with the improved dates, Alcatel/Lucent still shows these two markets being in the 3rd Round. Did someone realize that it would be crazy to do this work in Arizona at the hottest part of the year in 2013, so it should be moved up to Winter? We cannot say with certainty at this time. It appears that something is a foot. We will continue to monitor schedule progress and let all of you in Arizona know if there are any more changes. I am now cautiously optimistic for you Phoenicians. If I were a betting man, I would wager that you will start seeing sites come live before the end of the 2nd Round. I can see why at turnover from legacy to NV, people would definitely get dropped calls and data connections. But only at one time. However, that could feel like it is all over the city when it is one tower here, then another tower there. Repeating itself over a thousand times for each tower in the market. Also, the Chicago market will not be anywhere near done in June. So they are going to have to extend that deadline much farther out. Robert

This is not correct. And not physically possible. The WiMax antenna runs on 2500MHz. Sprint's LTE is at 1900MHz. It's impossible. Please stop posting nonsense and confusing people. This is a warning. Robert

Be that as it may, Ergen is so shrewd that he will always make Sprint and Tmo think that a deal with AT&T is imminent to get the best deal that Dish can get from them. He is in the middle of a great bargaining position. And he knows it. If Sprint ever gets a deal with Dish, it will not be lucrative. But I like your point that a Sprint/Dish deal, even if not financially lucrative, is a huge win just if ATT or Verizon cannot get it. It would be the reverse of the Alltel deal. Only more valuable as Dish spectrum is nationwide. Robert

All iDEN customers will be forced migrated. They can move to Sprint CDMA or they can go to another carrier. That's about it for options. Robert

I'm of the same mind set. I really hope that the GS-III supports 800 at a minimum, and ideally TD-LTE 2500 too. I will likely get one of the new LTE devices coming out now. But I'm definitely saving one of my upgrades for the GS-III. Robert

I can never remember getting hung up on 1x after getting a SMS, but maybe I have and just not realize it. I get hung up on 1x so often going in and out of coverage here in rural New Mexico, that I don't think I have noticed. Robert
