That's a classic. I haven't seen that movie in 15 years! Robert -
Evidently I am a 13-Year Old Hacker whose Dad works for Sprint, now...
S4GRU posted a article in Miscellaneous
Nothing like a good deep belly laugh at 1 AM to rejuvenate ya! I came across an article today in IT World (yeah, I never heard of it either) where the writer says of our site, "S4gru, a blog seemingly designed by a 13-year-old hacker whose dad works in dealmaking for Sprint." I thought it was funny. I think most of you will get a kick out of it. I took it as a compliment, at least he is saying we are credible. Just immature. And perhaps that's true! We are immature on the tech scene, and maybe even a tad irreverent. I'm 36 and going on 13! Robert -
I get what your saying. And it seems to make a lot of sense. But Sprint's network costs are all associated with data these days, not voice. And voice usage is going down and down. Your idea, while noble for the customer, would kill Sprint's revenues and make them even more unprofitable. The truth is we are over paying for voice and under paying for data. For Sprint to offer a reduced voice package and lower costs, they would have to increase data prices by the same amount to compensate. Sprint is not in the position financially to make any material changes that would result in less revenue. In order to stay financially viable and continue with Network Vision/LTE Deployment, it must meet its Cash Flow Projections. I hope that Sprint financials improve post Network Vision. I have high hopes for Sprint's future. Robert

I thought about doing that. However, that would require me to upload a new map for every market every day I get new NV information. I don't see that happening. It will be enough to update just the NV Complete Map thread everytime I get an update. But I like your thinking! Robert

I'm working on some revision to the way I embed those maps. I will likely post it tonight. Robert

Is 4G LTE Connectivity pointless when capped or throttled?
S4GRU commented on JustAGeekHere's blog entry in The Wall
Aside from tethering, there is no reason why Sprint cannot sustain smartphone unlimited data with the improvements that are coming via Network Vision. I think if anything, Sprint may try to crackdown on tethering if it has to. Robert -

iOS 5.1 confirms next generation iPhone supporting LTE
S4GRU commented on JustAGeekHere's blog entry in The Wall
Given that we know that MSM8960 supports TD-LTE, and now that we know Sprint can add the additional antennas based on USCC's new Samsung LTE device, the only thing that seems to be stopping Sprint from having the HTC Jet support TD-LTE 2500 is sheer desire. Robert -
Thanks for the post!!!

I love our comment threads on our articles. Contrast these with the comments on articles on most other sites! Robert -
I officially pulled S4GRU.com out of Beta today. The type of comments we are getting now are things we can handle out of Beta phase. Thanks for your help and suggestions. We are now getting to mainstream status! Robert

S4GRU Members and Readers: Today is an exciting day, because I decided to pull S4GRU.com out of beta stage. The amount of comments are way down and the IP Board environment has exceeded our expectations! Do any of you remember how slow and painful our servers were over in the Spruz environment? We have come a long way in a few short months. I really appreciate all your support. S4GRU.com has really taken off, especially in the past week, since we started in our expose of device articles. I want to thank our writers, sponsors, members and even you readers who have not joined to date. Sprint 4G Rollout Updates and S4GRU.com is a collaborative community. Even though I lead this endeavor, I have a wonderful supporting cast. And here we all have a part. S4GRU.com really is a home for all of us. It's becoming a unique and friendly environment for the enjoyment of our members. I am excited to think about where we are headed in the next few months. May we always be a place for us...the outcasts of the wireless world! Thanks for making this all possible. Without you, I would just be a wireless geek sitting in the corner desperately longing for friends! RobertS4GRU.com

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, IP Board writes in CSS, which I have no idea how to fix. I will search through the settings to see if I can figure it out and gets some more contrast there for you. Sorry!!! Robert

(UPDATED) PRL builders and network spelunkers pay heed; Sprint CDMA1X 800 channels and SIDs revealed
S4GRU commented on WiWavelength's blog entry in The Wall
Yeah, when the up and down links are relatively close together, it doesn't matter much which one is which. But when they are separated pretty far, like in AWS, then it really matters to have the uplink on lower frequencies given the power limitations on the device end needs to at least benefit from better propagation. At least, I'm giving everyone that much assumption in making the decision that way. And it seems smart to me. Robert -
iOS 5.1 confirms next generation iPhone supporting LTE

Well, if you are implying that LTE in itself will not support LTE and voice, like in the instance of VoLTE, then I can see what you are referring to. It would take several MIMO antennas to pull that off. However, I can see a SVLTE with GSM happening in the same way it does with CDMA/LTE. Robert -

Yeah, I guess I can see why someone may think of it that way. But when I see 5x5, I'm thinking 5 by 5. Like a 2x4 wooden board is a 2 by 4. Robert -
I have never had a call to Sprint CS that sounded like it was foreign, as far as I can remember. Robert<br />Posted from my E4GT with ICS using Forum Runner

Here we are AJ, exploiting little pieces of internal data, and there was a chest of info that we never knew existed. However, I suppose we needed the internal data first to confirm that these Nextel SID's are the same as the new ones being used in Network Vision. Exciting stuff! Thanks to both of you AJ and Autoprime. We are becoming the best site on the internet! Robert -
iOS 5.1 confirms next generation iPhone supporting LTE
S4GRU commented on JustAGeekHere's blog entry in The Wall
Hmmm...I think I've always just assumed that GSM could easily support SVLTE for two reasons. 1. LTE is considered the upgrade path for GSM. 2. AT&T pushes simultaneous voice/data so hard as a marketing differentiator, that I assumed it was a foregone conclusion. Perhaps this is a future AJ article for S4GRU, and tying in the iPhone SVLTE issue? Robert -

I'm starting to wonder if that should have been the headline and slant of the story..."Does the upcoming iPhone LTE not support Simultaneous Voice/LTE Data?" Robert -
