  1. We don't know if the FIT is in the City of New Orleans. We only know it's in the New Orleans market. It could very well be in Baton Rouge, for all I know at this point. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  2. I don't think the government needs to go around regulating slogans. If people are so mindless and follow everything they hear like sheep, they deserve to get what they pay for. We cannot govern to the lowest common denominator. These are not mandatory services, they are optional services and people are free to choose whatever service they like. If they choose a carrier because their slogan says they are the largest, then they are making their carrier decision on just one item. And that is careless. A careless consumer will not be protected just because the government is trying to control slogans. There is a lot of personal responsibility in a free and open society. And personally, I would rather continue to hear everything and filter and think for myself, then have the government try to filter and decide what's best for my ears. 3. The market will start seeing LTE soon. And sites will come live every week. However, it will take more than 6 months to complete every site in the market. Even Verizon hasn't completed every site in the market. Not even close. Remain calm. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  4. Its a distinction like being "America's Favorite Proctologist." The title just 'stinks.' Or should I say, it's 'crappy'? Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  5. I had a member PM me about a LTE signal going live near his house in the DFW market a few days ago. Speeds have been very intermittent. OG Sprint LTE? I will give you props. You were the first post I saw in all the internet with a confirmed Sprint LTE signal and speed test. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  6. The network.sprint.com site does not track Network Vision sites. It only posts Sprint sites within a six month rolling window that have or will receive capacity upgrades or additional T1 lines. These are largely temporary upgrades before Network Vision. Since Hammond is in an area actively getting NV upgrades, it shouldn't have any sites showing up at the Sprint Network site. 7. I am on the road for work this week and cannot look up specific sites for members. I may be able to this weekend if I come back across the thread. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  8. I've been really busy. Sorry for the late reply. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1010-roberts4gru-crazy-schedule/ Sprint's Network Site shows a six month rolling window of sites that are receiving capacity upgrades or additional T1 backhaul. These are not linked to Network Vision. More sites on that map is indicative of how bad the legacy network is in your area and has no bearing of Network Vision. However, Network Vision is beginning in your market this month. Stay tuned to S4GRU for updates. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  9. If it does, it will just be incidental. Since the Clearwire LTE network wont be live until Mid 2013, I don't think Apple will be aiming to try to include LTE 2600 this year. However, if the device already essentially supports every aspect of 2600 LTE and has the antennas to support it, they may just include it. However, I'm doubtful that next iPhone will support Clearwire LTE if it releases this Fall. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  10. There were three LTE 1900 FIT's. One for each NV OEM. Each has different equipment that can perform differently. And they did produce different results. Different enough that one OEM had to make some modifications. I'm actually surprised there isn't a third 800 LTE FIT in an ALU area. The biggest advantage of 800 LTE over 1900 LTE is the signal travels farther and penetrates buildings better. 800 LTE is going to be great for rural areas. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  11. To me, since it's not on the LTE lab reports, it would have to be either a non LTE device or a major blockbuster device that may not go through the labs. Although, it may be the one shown in the Lab schedule for August/Sept release. They may just be ramping up early. Heck, they may even be releasing early. The EVO LTE is out three weeks early from the development schedule. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  12. I kind of disagree. Sprint's "Blazing Fast 4G" term was coined when they had the only 4G network. And relative to its 3G, it was blazing fast. And is blazing fast. Should they give up the term because a competitor comes up with something more blazing-er? Also, Ive used Verizon, Sprint and ATT a lot. Sprint does have the best voice quality. Verizon is close. ATT, not even in the ballpark. I've never used Tmo, but I have not heard good things. And with HD Voice, Sprint definitely continues to lead voice quality. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  14. Both Boston and DC are active Network Vision deployment markets. NV/LTE work is underway. However, when Sprint is going to allow LTE to be discoverable is unknown. We hope it will be soon. I do believe it will happen in June, but we don't know a date, yet. Boston currently has 125 sites converted to Network Vision and Washington DC has 35 sites. I think within the next 30 days we will start seeing some of these completed NV sites start turning on LTE. Robert
  15. I don't know of any expansion plans. And there will not likely be any before Sprint starts turning a profit again. However, the Montana 800 LTE FIT is a very interesting situation. I don't know many details yet and have a lot of questions myself. How large is the FIT? Is it just one city, like Billings? Is it a whole region? Will they deploy 800 LTE only, or will they also include 800 CDMA? How about 1900 CDMA and LTE too? Is this a permanent set up that they will leave operating for customers to use, or will it be dismantled or abandoned? Will this be the beginning of a Montana/Wyoming/Dakotas expansion? As you can see, I'm not very clued in yet. But I am very intrigued at the thought of it all. Robert
  16. I once did a take off for Sprint to take WiMax nationwide over its existing nationwide footprint. I came up with 120,000 sites. That is double the amount of sites Sprint has together with Nextel now. And Sprint cannot even afford to run 60,000 sites, let alone 120,000. There is no way to make a nationwide 2600MHz network work. It is not economically feasible, IMO. Takes too many sites. And Sprint knows it. They never intended to take WiMax nationwide. However, they did plan on more than just 71 Clearwire markets. Robert
