  2. I answered your question on Facebook yesterday. I'm busy, so I typically ignore duplicate requests in different S4GRU forums. The Philly Metro market is in Round Two of Network Vision. It will start deployment in 2012. We will have an update article on this market in the next few weeks. Stay tuned to S4GRU for the latest updates about your market. However, in your latest post, you mention that you would want to use Sprint LTE as your home ISP. I wouldn't advise that. Sprint does not offer unlimited usage for any use except smartphone data now. So if you plan on illegally tethering your Sprint smartphones to exploit unlimited data, that wouldn't be wise. Sprint will be cracking down on unauthorized usage on their new network. A no holds barred open unlimited data experience is unsustainable. That's why Sprint only offers unlimited on smartphone data usage now. Sprint does not have the spectrum for LTE to provide personal in home ISP's for its customers. Not for even 15% of its customers. Neither does Verizon or ATT for that matter. If you are counting on Sprint LTE to be your personal home ISP, you will need to consider other options. You will need to keep Comcast, or some other service. If you use Sprint LTE in violation, you may lose service altogether. I hope you can work out a solution that meets your needs. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  5. I went through their website but couldn't find much substantial info on their network. When looking at their devices, it says that most of them support CDMA 800 and 1900. Do they have some 800 SMR spectrum, or is that capability just for when roaming on Sprint? Is their network just PCS only? Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  9. Yes, its on the To Do List. Its much more time consuming than people realize. Hope to have it posted before the end of the week. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  11. I guess there is no need to write the NOLA NV schedule update article! Robert
  12. I am getting reports where some people are faster on eHRPD and some are slower. It varies from market to market. I think the only places it appears faster is on sites with NV backhaul. In places where people are on eHRPD on legacy backhaul, they seem to get roughly the same or worse performance than EVDO. However, my observations are only third party anecdotal...I have not observed these myself. I have yet to get an eHRPD connection here in New Mexico. Robert

Sprint has no plans to ever put EVDO on 800...not in Network Vision, or otherwise. The EVO LTE supports EVDO on 800 by default, not because Sprint requested it that way because they are planning EVDO 800 deployment. Sprint only has enough 800 spectrum to deploy one 1xA carrier and one LTE carrier. Sprint may decide in the future to add an EVDO 800 carrier in some of the markets where they do not have enough spectrum to deploy a 800 LTE carrier. But they have no plans to do that now. However, this is not an issue in the Boston market. They have the full 14MHz of 800 spectrum there. Robert
  14. WiMax will not hand over to EVDO. You can do a hard handoff, which works in some data situations, but not streaming or active downloading. However, in the right conditions (especially if you increase your WiMax settings to a weaker -dBm) you can get WiMax to hand off to WiMax. But even that can be tricky. Robert
  15. Do you think they are still subsidizing part of the prepaid iPhones? If not, then it wouldn't matter how many they sell. Won't hurt them at all. However, they may possibly be subsidizing some part of the prepaid iPhones. I don't know. Robert
  16. I don't mean to make it sound insurmountable or anything like that. I am just making the point that Sprint wouldn't want people to bring their iPhones and lose an opportunity to sell one...because until they meet the terms of the contract, they are going to try to encourage people to keep buying them at every opportunity. 17. AS funny as this thread has gotten for many of us, especially those who have been around S4GRU for awhile, it is starting to get to the point where newbies and visitors could really misinterpret what S4GRU is all about. Let's make sure we aren't singling out any S4GRU members in our jokes or criticisms. That would be a violation of our guidelines. The only exception to that rule is PlanetEarth. Carry on! Robert

  19. I understand. You have to do what is best in your circumstances. However, the issues with Sprint are temporary. Robert
