  2. I just wanted to take a moment to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving. May your day be blessed with family and friends. And perhaps unhealthy amounts of turkey and stuffing. I am thankful for feeling much better. I'm not 100%, but I can breathe again. I have found that breathing is not overrated at all. If I couldn't breathe, I would just die. I'm also thankful for all of you. Well, most of you. S4GRU Forums celebrated its one year anniversary back on November 4th. It has been an exciting year. Thank you to all of you who contribute through participation and fiscal contribution to keep S4GRU the most amazing Sprint community online. Blessings to you all. Robert
  3. What is ironic, is that T-Mobile doesn't disguise their EDGE network and even call it 2G. And Tmo has a much higher percentage of their network as EDGE only than Sprint has 1x only. So the intentional deception is stupid, IMHO. I know technically 1xRTT is a 3G technology, but the intent is to disguise their 1x network. On my Verizon work phone it shows 1X, 3G and LTE in the display. On my Verizon hotspot, it shows 2G, 3G and LTE. Both of these formats is more transparent. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

  5. According to Sprint documents I have seen, Carrier Aggregation has significant battery drain issues. But it may be something they can solve by the time LTE Advanced hits prime time. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  6. I've not had this issue with my Note, but I am with my Nexus 4. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  7. I will be in Wichita Falls on Friday. Robert via Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
  8. This happens often when eHRPD first deploys in a market. It will likely happen again. Don't know the cause. Probably related to the cores. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  9. I've used CDMA 800 on Sprint in Waco, Texas. Worked great. Sounds exactly the same and coverage was strong and seamless over the whole city. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk

  11. I believe they will release a Press Release Thursday night or Friday morning. They are already showing some of these coverages on the official Coverage maps at http://coverage.sprint.com Robert
  12. Our members in the NOLA market have photographed work under way at some sites. So the work is beginning. It will probably be a few weeks before some sporadic testing signals start to appear. Launch will not be until Q1-2013. However, Sprint will likely leave on each site as they complete. So once they start going live, the coverage will just conintue to grow every week. Robert
  13. For the most part, they are now. In most cases now, when the site has everything it needs to operate 4G LTE, they will allow customers to connect to it. Robert
  14. McAllen, Brownsville, Harlingen, Corpus Christi are all in Sprint's South Texas market. Once they start work in a market, they will not stop until the whole market is complete. Even though they are starting with McAllen area, they will likely also be in the large South Texas cities shortly after starting there. So your area may not be first, but work will likely start in your area in the next 90-120 days or so as well. Robert
  15. If you get a chance, post the pics in the the West Kentucky market forum: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2413-network-visionlte-west-kentucky-market-louisville-evansville-bowling-green/ Thanks. Robert

  18. Embedded above is a map of all the communities that Shentel is planning to launch service on Friday, November 23rd. The map contains locations of the cities, not the towers themselves. We will create a tower map in the future in the Sponsor section. When you click on the community name, it will tell you the number of Shentel sites in that community with Network Vision/LTE upgrades. 19. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Wednesday, November 21, 2012 - 12:55 PM MST The Regional Affiliate Shentel that provides Sprint service from Virginia's Shenandoah Valley up into Central Pennsylvania is preparing to launch Network Vision improvements and LTE service in a significant portion of its coverage area on Black Friday. Many sites have quietly gone online over the past few months in these areas. However, a source close to the Shentel deployment has now provided S4GRU a list of all 125 sites that are planned to be a part of this formal launch the day after Thanksgiving. In total, there are 56 cities that will receive service in Northwestern Virginia, the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, Western Maryland and South Central Pennsylvania. Alcatel Lucent is the Network Vision OEM for Shentel and has been active in the market since June. Cities that will have launchable service by the end of this week include Harrisburg PA, York PA, Hagerstown MD, Martinsburg WV, Winchester VA and Harrisonburg VA and many smaller Shentel communities. There is a complete list below. Although this is a good chunk of Shentel territory that will be enjoying upgraded 3G and high speed LTE coverage, deployment is far from over. This launch only includes approximately 20% of the entire Shentel network. Alcatel Lucent and Shentel will continue with deployment over the next year bringing upgrades to all of Shentel-land. Many of launched areas will receive even more sites converted (for denser coverage and better performance) and the remaining Shentel communities will receive upgrades. Sprint customers with LTE devices can use Shentel's LTE service in the same manner they do in their home markets. 20. They are pretty common. It seems that very few DAS systems are in our database. And there are no in-building solutions in our database at all. Currently, there are no micro cell deployments by Sprint. They will start some testing of those in the field some time in 2013. In most cases DAS systems and in-building solutions are handled under private contracts and are not really considered part of the macro network. In the few cases they are, they are shown on our maps. In-Building Solutions are typically only done for large Sprint customers as a part of their service contract with Sprint. They are common at universities, hospitals, government agencies, and large corporations who use Sprint. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  21. This is borderline ridiculous to say that Sprint lied. They want to convert all markets as soon as possible to Network Vision. Not only does it name customers happy, but it saves them operational dollars. Any delays in Michigan are necessary, and not a choice to flip Michiganders the bird. To not be able to logistically do as they planned is not a lie. I suppose you could call it a failure. If you hadn't heard from S4GRU of when they were supposed to start, you wouldn't even know they were behind schedule there. And if you don't like the fact that Sprint has failed to start in the Michigan market to date, you are welcome to leave and find another carrier. But you are not welcome to rant about it at S4GRU. Please consult our posting guidelines. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1197-s4gru-posting-guidelines-aka-the-rulez/ Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  22. Or is it just covert in that location? Sorry. Bad joke. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  23. The improvement in signal is 1dBm to 5dBm on average from RRU upgrades in Network Vision. It will vary at each site based on specific site conditions, including panel downtilt, site signal power (which varies based on lots of factors like interference management), local topography and ground clutter. The biggest changes in Sprint signal strength will come in the addition of 800MHz service. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  24. The truth is even Sprint does not know. And 100% complete is not as important as 100% coverage. At this point, total coverage in the KC area is probably not until Spring. But it will get better and better every week until then. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  25. In the NV Sites Complete map we only show sites that are accepted by Sprint as complete. They may be operational before Sprint inspects and accept them. Also, it is not permissible to post Sponsor content in public forums. There is a disclaimer underneath all the Sponsor maps explaining that limits of the usage of the data. Your post has been edited.
