  1. Reminds me of a scandal back when I lived at Tahoe. There is a community at the lake called Incline Village. There was a controversial tax increase for schools on the ballot that would have disproportionately raised the rates on wealthy homeowners at Incline than the rest of Washoe County. Most Incline residents were against it. On Election Day, the tax increase fails by a narrow margin. It was discovered that in Incline Village, over 12,000 ballots were cast. Too bad the entire village population was about 9,500. Every man, woman and child. And many of those people could not even vote legally. Any time there was any perceived Shenanigans in an election thereafter, it was referred to as the "Incline Effect." Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  2. I prefer Jacques Pepin to personally cater my tailgate parties. Robert
  3. I was excited because I thought I found a new one (39991). And then I got here and found it already on this list. DOH! Robert
  4. Yes. They did pretty well in Austin, Nashville, Jacksonville, Minnesota (except Duluth). They are still waiting for backhaul in Duluth. But the majority of the cities with little to no LTE sites in the Sprint network are CenturyLink. CL also has a lot of sites in some major cities like Phoenix and Las Vegas too. They are going to need to get theirs going soon, as Cox is nearly complete on all their sites in those markets. CenturyLink is a factory of sadness. Robert
  5. The LTE 1900 coverage will get better as more sites get online and they optimize the signal a little more. But it will be much better to get a Triband device. Not just for the LTE 800, but Band 41 is being rolled out on WiMax sites in Connecticut. With a wide channel, it runs significantly faster. In CT, you definitely will want to go Triband soon. Robert
  6. It's LTE in general. LTE has a fragile airlink. It does on all carriers. It needs more signal to be effective. Sprint is currently deploying LTE 1900 on the same site density as their CDMA 1900. That will not work very well in places with spread out density. It works much better in places with a dense tower network. T-Mobile has the same problem with their LTE on AWS. And Verizon's LTE 750 doesn't travel as far as their CDMA 850 network. LTE just needs more signal to equal coverage of 3G EVDO. EVDO is a wonderful technology in that regard. A great LTE network also has lower frequency spectrum to pair with PCS or AWS. Sprint is starting to deploy LTE on 800MHz too now. It is a relatively quick overlay style deployment, and they will be able to get it on most LTE 1900 sites by the end of 2014. It will travel much farther and penetrate much better. Just like Verizon's 750MHz LTE band. But you will need a Sprint Dualband/Triband device to be able to use it. Robert
  7. I like the discussion so far. But please be very careful about political discussions. I don't like them around here in general. They rarely go well. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  8. No matter which LTE band, in a Samsung market, if you don't have a CSFB connection through an NV 3G upgraded site, you will not be able to maintain an LTE connection. You can force it by going to LTE Only mode though. Otherwise it will start to connect to LTE, but when it can't find CSFB it will fall back to 3G so you can still receive phone calls. 9. I think you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere Sprint compares itself to Verizon or any other provider ever. So I'm not sure what you're referring to. Sprint is faster than Verizon in many places. And Sprint is faster than Tmo and AT&T in a lot of places. And they are faster than Sprint in lots of places. Wireless networks are not like a plug in network. Radio signals are fickle things. Different devices act differently. Different spectrum and different size channels, interference, locations. There is just too much variability to draw finite conclusions from one speed test in one spot. If you come into our forums and start talking negative about Sprint, you'll have to know what you're talking about. But it sounds like you don't just want usable LTE in your home. You sound like you want something to impress your friends. But don't worry. Your friends can't keep running speed tests or they'll blow through their data caps. Your YouTube will still run without buffering, just like theirs. Except they'll start freaking after a few clips. And you can just keep going and going. I'll take 9Mbps unlimited over 18Mbps with a data cap. 18Mbps will not feel faster than 9Mbps for 99.9% of what you'll use on a smartphone. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. What kind of signal strength you getting? If you have a weakish Sprint signal, but the Verizon is strong then that can account for the difference. LTE has a fragile airlink. Performance degrades proportionate to the signal going down. There are many places Sprint will be faster too. If 9Mbps is not fast enough inside your home, where most people don't even need LTE, then you should probably switch to Verizon. The 9Mbps may even go down some. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. Awesome!!! Reboot your N5 and see if it still stays connected. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  12. You mean like Sprint's 20MHz Band 41 carrier? Yes, it sure does. Especially when they start aggregating these large carriers before any other provider. A wider channel is capable of faster speeds. However, even smaller LTE carriers are faster than people's needs. Robert
  13. I also want people to know that I don't have a problem with our members saying that they don't recommend Sprint service now in a particular market when asked. That's fine. You can discuss your personal opinion of Sprint service that you use in a constructive and non-ranting way. But recommending another specific provider is where it starts to cross the line of the new rule. Robert
  14. I'm feeling ya. It was on the line. So I thought I would throw that out there. I was also more concerned about someone using your post to springboard into something that wouldn't be allowed. Robert
  15. Kind of like getting back on EVDO after falling to 1x while roaming on the OG EVO. It used to drive me batty. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  16. Be careful how you discuss other wireless providers. Do not run afoul of the new rule: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5450-posts-and-threads-about-other-wireless-providers/ Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  17. That's sort of true too. I'm from North Florida. I always wanted the Jags to do well. But I've been disappointed since 1994. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  18. I get your point. However, converting a site to a GMO is part of NV1.0. Future GMO upgrades are not in the NV1.0 plan. Currently, the only thing we are able to measure is NV1.0. While it is true that GMO's make up over a third of the Rochester market, these are mostly outside the metro area ring and rural locations. This is more reflective of how much rural coverage Sprint has in this area. And rural NV 3G tends to run at 1.5-2.5Mbps. Good for almost everything you do on a smartphone and way better than Tmo EDGE or GPRS, which is unusable for doing more than possibly reading an email without attachments. The folks in the Rochester market have ever reason to be happy now with how things are progressing. I'm happy for you guys. You could be like Albuquerque or Hawaii. Other late round markets that are languishing. Robert
  19. Sprint employees have said in our Forums that Sprint is doing away with subsidized pricing and contracts soon. Rumored to be Mid March. You will soon be paying for your devices at purchases, whether 100% or through financing. Robert
  20. Sorry I missed the voice only part. I read too many posts and sometimes just scan too fast and miss important details. Whatever it is that you are experiencing, I will say this... Don't trust Sprint customer service at all about any of the details, whatsoever. It may not be anything like you've been told. They seem to nearly always be incorrect about whatever the issue is. We don't know what the issue is. We have not seen anything like this happen so far before. So we really have no insight to share about this issue. This seems to be new ground as far as problems go. Keep us informed as to what is going on and post back. And in the future we may have more info to help diagnose this problem again. Thanks for sharing with us. Robert
  21. Your original question was valid. Since then, you have descended to nothing but attitude. This is really the cause why the issue has escalated. If someone doesn't answer the question the way you were seeking, give it time for others to respond. It was just one man's opinion. But turning on the first person to respond is not good forum etiquette and will not likely get you a good result in any forum. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  22. First, San Diego is definitely Alcatel Lucent. There is no Samsung network equipment being used in that market. Second, since the problem only exists on your wife's GS3, isn't that the common denominator? Robert
  23. Oh, don't assume I'm rooting for Seattle. I just said I would tolerate a Broncos win even more if I had Sprint LTE. Actually, if there was a way they both could lose, then my days without Sprint LTE would not feel so bad. Robert
  24. Great idea for a thread, AJ. Thanks for this. I'm looking forward to seeing other PCS entries, and possibly some varieties on the SMR with different size carriers in different positions. Robert
