Has anybody looked at Total Wireless the new America Movil MVNO

It's based on the Verizon network. Individaul plans are at $35 for unlimited voice and text and 2.5GB. Shared plans are at $60 for two lines, $85 for 3 and $110 for 4 lines with 5, 9 and 12GB respectively. Pretty competitive with Cricket.

Those plans are pretty close to Virgin Mobile as well.

Almost definitely 3G only at those prices. That takes all the appeal of a Verizon MVNO away, it's essentially equal to Virgin Mobile but slightly more expensive for those not in extremely rural areas.

Possibly going to be marketed towards older people who don't need data? The $25 unlimited talk/text plan does support smartphones. Good for older people who don't leave the house much but want a smartphone.

They still don't fully launch - considering even Tracfone and Straight Talk have Verizon LTE, I'd be surprised if these guys (also owned by Tracfone) don't get LTE.

But once they get LTE and are at every Walmart, I can see them being very competitive against other budget brands. And others will respond, and we will all benefit.

I have 3 Lines on Cricket all on iPhones, if they can get LTE on Total Wireless it will be great.

They don't mention LTE for data, so it might be 3g only. I think Page Plus is the only Verizon mvno I've seen with LTE, and even then speeds are capped at 3.5mb/s.

Wow, that would be an improvement over the current speed on Verizon's LTE network in my area. I am lucky to get 1-2 MB down, and it used to be over 30+MB's

Why TracFone has so many different brand names?

Not sure, but diversification can lead to problems in the end. I personally think they are crazy for having that many prepaid brands.

And they have nothing to differentiate different brands. They all have same pricing plans and similar looking websites.

    • June 1st security update installed on s24 ultra factory unlocked. No functional changes detected. No play system update yet.
    • The June security update is out.
    • In China now and roaming on China Mobile with Google Fi/TMUS. 5G is enabled on roaming, however most areas in China have NSA disabled on the network. so SA is the only way to get 5G. This is only possible using a native SIM from the Chinese carriers. Also, LTE CA is disabled on basically every site, except for a few I've come across while on the bullet train.   I'm lucky enough to be in a small town where NSA is still enabled on China mobile, so I'm able to have a decent experience while roaming. Haven't speedtested much but it seems to top out at 300mbps over roaming on b3 + n41 100mhz. The networks here are dense AF and every site seems to have midband 5G deployed. Also, interesting to see that most sites have antennas branded by the carrier, or painted a certain color (which I haven't figured out what that means yet).
    • My S21FE, which is my primary phone, has burned in quite a bit from SCP.  Not sure I could get a good picture of it, so I won't try.  Helpfully, since SCP allows full customization of app colors, I'm going to see if I can't undo it a bit by flipping the colors. https://imgur.com/a/QQr5Ncv We'll see how long my eyes tolerate the change... - Trip
