LOL does this look like a sprint tower? (img link)

Recommended Posts

I was using a free app from the market place that shows the locations of the towers your connected to. well i went to the closest one to my location and there was no tower in the spot the app said there was but after looking around i noticed this tower fairly close so i figured it was it.

Really can't tell from the distance. If you can and if its not muddy I would drive up the road and investigate further.

Well i guess you dont see the sign that says "Privat Property" or i would have done that already.

Honestly its the middle of the country and there is only like 1 house that is near enough to see me walking up th quarter mile drive. but i honestly dont think it would be worth it to walk up and take a look because from what i know so far my area probbly wont get LTE till late 2013.....

Here is a pic of the NV installed tower In Hutchinson, KS the middle antenna will be on all NV sites.

You mean the little round one or the Triangle one facing the camera most?

this is good to know but from the pics i took there is no way to tell oter than the fact that i could have taken a speed test but forgot to do. i usually get around 1Mbps with full bars so i doubt its NV just really under used because in my area everyone has verizon.

The big white panel in the middle.

To me that panel looks like 90% of the other panels on other towers...still trying to figure out where towers have multiple carriers that ppl r telling which section is Sprint...

Sorry, I don't know how I missed this post. I assume you are referring to the Sprint site in Spencerville, Ohio based on your profile.

Below I have posted pics of where the Sprint site is on the North side of Spencerville. It looks like in the sat photo, that it's the same place that you took a picture of. If the yellow marker in the map below is in the same spot as the tower in your picture, than yes, you were looking at a Sprint site.

WOW thats a sprint tower!? I didnt know that! no the tower is down near 117 AKA Spencerville road.

that tower as the picture shows is right next to the road and i could probbly get right next to it if i wanted to. as a matter of fact. i think i might take a tirip if a few minutes to take a look at it.

On a side note how did you know that was a sprint tower? if you go to sprint's website and look at the local towers none of the towers near my town show up.

The Sprint site network.sprint.com only shows towers that have recently received or in the near future will receive temporary performance upgrades in advance of Network Vision. So it does not show all their sites. Not even close.

I have access to a database that includes all Sprint Network Vision sites. The information I provide came directly from Sprint and not a 3rd party website. S4GRU has posted many interactive site maps in our Sponsor section. And more are added every few days.

It has been my experience that the tower location apps do not work well for cdma based networks. At least I have not found one that works.

Netmonitor in the Google Play store works suprisingly well. It seems to locate accurately about 90% of the towers I come across.

    • Dish network down since 3:31am Signalcheck Pro reports the Dish Network, at least the site at Scioto-Darby Rd Near I-270  in Columbus Ohio, was last operational at 3:31am. I normally pickup signal from two other Dish sites as well.  Reported via downdetector.com as Boost Infinite but one is such a lonely number. Tried to manually reconnect to Dish, but network is not appearing. Hopefully scheduled maintenance.
    • Probably a lot of Midwest towers. Slight bias since Nebraska is a weird market, but there are tons of USCC sites that T-Mobile isn't yet co-located on. Think a similar situation in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri. But some other markets, like yours, probably don't have that issue!
    • Sticky Customers - YES, and leave them flip to the T-Mobile PLMN when needed and they will be even more likely to Stick.
    • It seems to me that if the goal is to improve rural, the US Cellular buy-out would get them only part of the way there, considering there are plenty of rural areas that US Cellular does not serve.  But I also have a hard time reading it the way I think that article is, that the cost of this deal comes straight out of the $9 billion.  I mean, they're getting spectrum for their existing operations in US Cellular markets, including places that I wouldn't call rural.  (Roanoke, VA is the 9th largest city in the state, for example.)  It seems like some of it should be allocated to rural expansion, but certainly not the whole purchase price. There's also something to be said for getting the customer base of potentially sticky customers who have been used to US Cellular being the only game in town for potentially decades. - Trip
