Non-Paypal Donations

I would total 100% donate to this forum but, like many forums now days you guys require us to use paypal. Sadly some of us are unable or just don't want to use paypal. If you guys would put, in place an alternative (Amazon Pay, Google Checkout, Other) I would be able and very willing to donate.

Using only paypal scares people like me and makes us feel left out. We want to help but, their is a roadblock preventing us from donating.

Please add an alternative payment method for donations.

Thank You!

We will only be accepting PayPal. You can use credit card via PayPal without even needing to start a PayPal account. So we essentially accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and PayPal. And if you have a PayPal account you can pay via your checking account or debit card. That's a lot of options.

The only other option is you can mail me a personal check via US Mail. We have had a couple of members do this.

You can use a paypal account to donate however, You don't need a paypal account to donate via the link at S4GRU. It is only "powered by paypal." I have donated numerous times and I do not have a paypal account.

Purely out of curiosity (and I stress that because I'm not intending the question to come across in even a remotely snarky fashion), what is it that supposedly scares you about Paypal? I've never personally read nor heard anyone express that sentiment before is why I ask.

Don't believe in the dollar any longer so I was going to send Robert a half of ounce of Gold. Of course I wanted change back 3/4 of a 1/2 ounce. Not much right, But Robert said it would take too much time to start a Gold exchange. So, I dropped it and haven't been able to donate. ;)

I do take gold. Even a half ounce is fine. Mail to: P.O. Box 663, Tesuque, NM 87574

LOL.  If any of us use Gmail (or a custom domain provided through Google) you can send money directly through the email interface.  I do it all of the time (Just not here yet.)

Maybe (IN ADDITION TO SENDING IN OUR PERSONAL GOLD RESERVES   ) we should start sending all of our old devices as a donation for a later fundraising auction, or just so that you can get in the guinness book for the largest collection of obsolete devices.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
