Another tragedy has truck. This one, there are reports of 60-70 people who's life ended today. RIP to the brave men who are there trying to put the fire out.

Exactly. Yes, it's tragic but this has NOTHING to do with Sprint's network vision rollout..which is ALL this site is about. We don't need people acting as reporters. We have CNN and myriad other news outlets for that. STAY ON TOPIC!

i don't agree, even though this is a "sprint 4g update" site this topic is in the "general topics" section and even though its not about cellular things it doesn't mean that as a community we can't discuss other things going on.

We have a General Topics section for off topic conversation. People are free to post what they want here...within reason.

I bet you both feel really good of yourselves ganging up on me. THis is the Off-topic section of the entire site. Where I am free to post non-sprint related topics. I'm sorry that this was a disappointing thread. I posted this topic 6 hours after the event happened. Not everyone pays attention to the news. This was to inform the users who didn't know this happened. I was just letting others know. That is all.

One of my favorite things about this site in particular is the sense of community that has been built up here. I have been around for quite some time and have seen this site go from just a few dozen people to what it is today. I do feel like I know the personalities of many people on this site. As a community we have gone through a lot. Tragedies are a fact of life. I do think threads like this belong in a community because on this site we are all friends (most of us anyway, there are always a few fire starters) and friends discuss everything, tragedies included. And to say that these unfortunate tragedy threads have nothing to do with Sprint or Network Vision is simply not true. One of the major stories that came out during the tragedy in Boston was the Feds shutting down the cellular network (which was later proved to be false), but the networks simply became overloaded. All cell phone companies have to deal with these tragedies unfortunately and learn a great deal from each an every one of them. Don't forget what 9/11 did to cell AND landline networks. So Even if it sounds corny, I thank Robert for creating S4GRU and developing it to what it has become today and hopefully people stick around long enough to see that it is a great community.

I'm not ganging up on you by any means. I love wireless and Sprint, and love coming to this site. Coming here is kind of an escape from the outside world. It's just irritating hearing the same bad news on every single corner of the internet. However, as Robert states, This is a general thread so i retract my original comment.

Well said my man, I agree with you all the way. 110%. THis site has grown since I've joined. I refer people to this site for information. On sprint's forum, people complain and i tell them to come here and look for more information since sprint doesn't let us know as much as These forums do. I'm thankful for that, I've known tons of people who've had sprint. I told them they should come back because of NV in Fort Wayne. This site got me to stay with sprint through out the nightmares of the service here lol. But it has been worth it, I love teh 4G!

Thanks robert :D and to all those who help the man!(mods too)

I completely agree. Also due to the fact that I work a 12 hour night shift from 6pm to 6am and last night i ended up staying until 8 am. I did not know anything about this until now. Thanks rukin.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
