If you zoom in closely on this pic https://www.dropbox.com/s/gx3acug690fsf8r/IMG_20131025_152149.jpg the end of the row have what appears to be extra cabinets when compared to google street view and a new gps antenna with the red tape. Might be worth investigating.

Hm... So any idea based on that how far off completion is? (obviously I don't expect dates or anything, just a rough ball park based in the progress)

Also, will any other pictures help? I drive by everyday so it's easy to stop.

Yeah. I would check out the cabinets at the end with the red GPS antenna.

I think this is the red one you were talking about? Unfortunately it appears to be attached to AT&T stuff. https://db.tt/N4yhf7eg

This one has a sprint sign on it. https://db.tt/6hNtk7oi

Unfortunate... guess it's just power issues. Work can begin any day though so keep an eye on it if something changes.

Also 2 new sites 4G accepted.

-- Sparks, NV : near intersection of freeport blvd & industrial way

-- Reno, NV    : downtown near the intersection of South Center Street & East Liberty Street

Why do cell towers need GPS. Couldn't they just take the points from a GPS and record them since the tower doesn't move?

Public safety - mainly for triangulating calls / locations of people.

I'm surprised only two new sites are accepted.  Reno has many sites with installed equipment but are not broadcasting LTE...although, I'm sure they will be activated within November.  At least the activations are coming fairly regularly.

I know how you feel. I dont think they have done anything to the wimax tower right by savemart on N.Main st. Im still waiting to see them start work on the tower by the police station which is the only NV site listed for manteca.

Im waiting on buying anything from sprint till NV has rolled through manteca. They are playing catchup to the 3 other big carriers in our city. I hope i can last because T-mobile is looking really good right now. Ive got patience though ive been with sprint for 9 years so i think i can hold out a little more.

I really would've hoped Sprint built a new tower in Manteca with NV because Manteca has awful coverage since I can remember. Mostly on the 120 side by Costco and the movies.

Not just to the other 3 big carriers but also to Metro PCS who have LTE all over the San Joaquin and Stanislaus County.

So far everything has been happening up north.. Hopefully soon we get some good news.

I wonder what's the hold up in Tracy. There has been some spotting of 4G LTE on sensorly since the summer but it hasn't spread.

I never connected in Tracy once.

Oct is almost gone n no LTE in sac :(

I've been getting hit and miss LTE signals in downtown and in the metro area. There has been a lot of work being done physically, but there is still inspections and acceptances to go through. It's disappointing, but it is being worked on, no doubt. Soon.

Can't say for sure. I've always subscribed to the "by the end of the year" estimate. It's more than Sprint, though. Keep in mind the contractors and local jurisdictions play a part in how fast this all goes live.

Tower on Sunrise and Old Auburn in Citrus Heights. First picture is from a couple weeks ago. Second one was today. I need to go back with a better camera. Hopefully tomorrow.

Sprint is on top rack I believe...looks like lots of new stuff based on your 2nd picture, maybe even TD-LTE Antennas up there as well now? Better picture would help.

Yeah, I know the permit has been out for a while for that tower. The whole top looks completely different and I'm pretty sure that's the sprint one. I'll probably have better pictures tomorrow.

The top is rack is definitely sprint. I'm curious about that short and fat panel slightly below the top rack on the second picture...

I'm thinking short fat panel might be TD-LTE Sprint....excuse me...lilotimz would say TD-LTE Antenna!

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
