Sprint announces 20 additional LTE cities where work has commenced

Recommended Posts

There are detailed maps with timeline info in the Premier Sponsors section. Here's info on becoming a sponsor: http://s4gru.com/ind...come-a-sponsor/

Only first and second round markets have schedules in the Premier Sponsor section. The Albuquerque market appears to have moved from the 4th Round to 3rd Round. But I have not been able to corroborate that.

On the original schedule, it would have been more than six months from now. However, Sprint has been shaking up the 3rd and 4th rounds a lot. So it may be sooner now than originally planned. But even with schedules changes, it is not likely to be before the end of the year. And there is no guarantee that the LCV market will improve its position in the changes.

I can't help but feel the ramp up of 3rd/4th rounds seems to have somehow neglected the mid-end 2nd round markets

I think San Diego is under way now. I think all the 2nd Rounders are starting deployment now except the Pacific NW, and perhaps Michigan. Just a feeling.

I certainly hope so but haven't noticed any lte squawking from the ones that should be coming along in the county. I will keep every updated when those things change though. I try to check all of the (soon to be or should be lte live) sites within a 30mile radius (30 towers or so) at least once a week

  • 3 weeks later...

So, San Diego didn't get WiMax and now it looks like we have to wait even longer for LTE!!!! WTH!!!???

San Diego is not some small town in the middle of nowhere.... we have QUALCOMM here.... Should have been one of the firsts... at least in California....

I'm not sure but I don't think it's that they chose a before b but that they chose all 38000 and are doing them as the backhaul etc can get done. Its not so such you have to wait for some place to get done before your area starts. Something permits whatever holding it up and at least something is being done somewhere rather than waing on doing a more desirable city to be able to start work.

Has work only started in cities specifically named in this post? Or does it include the smaller cities that aren't worth mentioning? The city I live in happens to be right between four of the named cities.

All the markets named have work under way, but not all markets with work under way are named.

Any word on when northern nj will start

I'm wondering the same thing, but am waiting patiently.

Wondering the same. Not much info being said. Plus south jersey already having live sites, its like it happened overnight.

Figure of speech. South jersey was a 3rd round, no? North doesn't ever have one.

As far as I know, South Jersey was always a 2nd round? I'm assuming North Jersey will follow suit. Thankfully I work in NYC, so I'll see LTE, eventually.
