I like my cellphone network like my food: GMO free :)

There is a need for speed...

You hate GMO's like I do. However, I have full build sites worse than many of the GMO's I've used in the last 6 months.

Trust me, I see this currently in NoCal at my office and I am not happy with the lack of speed. A tower has been down for over a month and Sprint does not seem to be able to fix the problem.

The dark magic of Ericsson. When does part of their agreement turn into a pumpkin?

Yes. They applied for extending their microwave relays at the beginning of July and got approval on the 22nd. I saw them out there working yesterday, but they weren't back this morning when I was back in the area. Hopefully tomorrow when I go back again. The last I was told by a Sprint rep was the end of this year for LTE in Pahrump, which it's looking closer to that. They have at least 4 links they have to add to complete the chain.

Well I have a little inside baseball knowledge. As far as Vegas 212 Towers are set to activate the 800mhz LTE in next 90 days. (Estimate). Pahrump should be done by December from what I heard yesterday. I heard from a higher up beginning of the year that Pahrump was going to get "everything LTE..." but as far as I know it's just it's just B25 1900. B26 would be nice though. B41 is still TBD. I do know they are very focused on hitting the Strip in Vegas hard with B26 to get into the hotels, and I heard they will be densifying it greatly with small cells on B41 with possible 3x Carrier Aggregation. Saw 5 new towers slated to open in next 6 months ish for N Las Vegas too. I honestly don't know about these Microwave setups... will All of 160 be lit up with 4G from Vegas to Pahrump? Or are they going straight over the top of the mountain?

Fascinating. I certainly hope that all of this comes to fruition.

We have no Band 41 equipment on the 2 Sprint sites in Pahrump, but they are full build sites so we will get Band 26 at least in addition to Band 25.

As for the Microwave setup, they are running it from Jean through Sandy Valley and then out to Pahrump. The sites on 160 between Vegas and Pahrump could feasibly get LTE B25 because the equipment is PCS with the GMO set up, but I'm not worried if it happens or doesn't. I just want it in Pahrump.

Ok hold on, I would like to get excited but I'm in Southern California and I was told band 26 is being held up by San Bernadino county and that SB county is also holding up Vegas along with SoCal. So unlesss you know something we don't know, is vegas getting band 26 before SoCal ? I thought since SB is holding up for both counties that they would get cleared together ?!? Or am I missing something here. We need band 26 band in SoCal and my life will be complete.

Yes B26 is so far on track to be activated in the next 90 days. As far as I know it is already on the sites just turned off. From my understanding this was because it was causing interference... I believe with Emergency Service and such.. I will have to ask and make sure. What's crazy is in Vegas Sprint outperforms in a lot of categories... even being named 2 out of the last 3 times the Top Network in Vegas by RootMetrics..... without ANY 800mhz! So I am very excited to see it be activated. I live in Pahrump though but work in Vegas, so I experience the best and WORST of Sprint daily! Why was it being held up in Cali?

San Bernardino County Emergency services have time and again delayed their upgrades to their systems forcing Sprint to wait over and over. I sure hope this stupid debacle is over soon and B26 LTE is launched in the area soon.

I honestly don't know the hold up for SoCal. From what I was told was whenever SoCal gets cleared, so will vegas since the same county is holding it up. I'm praying to the gods above that SoCal gets cleared in 90 days with Vegas. Lol. Is there anyway you can check your source and ask them about SoCal, including LA, San Diego and Orange County for 800mhz LTE and get back to us ?

Sure just send me the Zip codes you want to know about. I will make sure to get info on LA San Diego and Orange County. Probably Wednesday is when I can get the info. Is this a natiowide issue? With being without 800mhz LTE? I knew it existed in Vegas...

It's mostly the border areas. Mexico and Canada and the states along those borders. El Paso, Tx also etc. 92802(Orange County), 92532(riverside county) just those areas. I've heard San Diego is separate from OC, LA, Vegas. Becuase they deal directly with Mexico rebanding. At least that's what I heard. If you can get some info and get back to us that would be great.

Jean has finally LTE? Last time I was in Jean, the network was just 3G and LTE (B25/41) was in Primm.

I have no idea about the status of the network in Jean. All I know is the relay chain starts in Jean, runs to Sandy Valley, then through the desert to Pahrump.

I just checked and according Sprint's coverage map, Jean is still 3G. I know the signal from Primm reaches quite far, almost to the Jean court house but not inside the Casino. I will be in the area during CTIA and I may do a drive-by after the show.

Orange has 1 single tower that may get it in 90 days... supposedly.

Interesting. I don't expect anything until next year at least. What about for Phoenix Arizona ?

    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
    • What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
