Ok. I did it. I ordered an iPhone 7 Plus 256GB in Gold this morning. I should have it by Friday.

I am holding out for the next model.  Hopefully it will support HPUE.  I did spend the gift card from the raffle last month for a new iPad Pro for my wife.  She dropped her last iPad and shattered the screen but it was having other issues before then.  I also invested in a new Lifeproof Nuud case for it.  Let us hope it survives.

The only reason I did upgrade is because I wanted out of my Lease. HPUE won't affect me too much because I have usable B26 at home when I'm not using Wifi. When B41 finally launches I'll be a happy camper though.

I understand.  I hope this weekend my wife and I can go to the Sprint store in town and see if we can reduce our current spend for the current services from Sprint.  I believe we can save approximately 80 to 100 dollars a month.  Will just have to ask and see.

Hopefully you will be able to save. I'm dropping back to Framily with 3GB data so my bill doesn't go up much for upgrading.

I don't know why I waited so long to get the 7 Plus. I love this phone!

I've been thinking of switching from my Nexus 6 to the iPhone 7 plus. I'll probably wait and see if the 7s plus has AMOLED display this year.

Why wait just for that?  LCD on 7/7+ is pretty much top notch (accuracy, brightness, wide color gamut), easily on par with SAMSUNG AMOLED.  Remember, not all AMOLED (and LCDs) are created equal...even when come from same manufacturer.

If you are in the BETA program, then you will notice pretty damn good Portrait mode!  Compared to normal (non-beta) iOS software, the Portrait mode in latest beta software is significantly better!  :tu:

I had this app too but then i found that Apple camera app is pretty good at determining when to use and not to use telephoto lens.  When it would not use it even when zooming, it is because using the actual telephoto lens in that situation looks like crap.

I do like the Portrait mode...i have gotten pretty darn good photos out of it!

Not sure...but i have seen significant improvement in Portrait mode...the border is much cleaner now vs. before when it was first released.

If so, and we're only 6 mos away from iPhone 8/Edition, then i would wait...no need to jump now.

Hopefully HPUE will be a part of the next model.  Apple has known about HPUE since December.  We will just have to wait and see.

It would have look much better if the front was black.

Yeah, I don't get why Apple can't make the fronts of the iPhones the same color as the backs.

Or is that just their "style".  To have the front either white or black.

    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). The do have a reserve level. It is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  They did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, RVs in Walmart parking lots where mobile needs all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
    • "The company’s unique multi-layer approach to 5G, with dedicated standalone 5G deployed nationwide across 600MHz, 1.9GHz, and 2.5GHz delivers customers a consistently strong experience, with 85% of 5G traffic on sites with all three spectrum bands deployed." Meanwhile they are very close to a construction deadline in June for 850Mhz of mmWave in most of Ohio iirc. No reported sightings.
    • T-Mobile Delivers Industry-Leading Customer, Service Revenue and Profitability Growth in Q1 2024, and Raises 2024 Guidance https://www.t-mobile.com/news/business/t-mobile-q1-2024-earnings — — — — — I find it funny that when they talk about their spectrum layers they're saying n71, n25, and n41. They're completely avoiding talking about mmWave.
    • Was true in my market. Likely means a higher percentage of 5g phones in your market.
