  1. Actually I find the comparison interesting.  I was looking at the new Moto X the other day as I am getting a little impatient waiting on the rumored new one.  As I was going through the specs though, I kept saying same, same, same.  So in reality it seemed the only thing the new Moto X was giving me as fancy colors and engraving.  I think it is a nice phone but the specs seemed so similar it was not worth paying for an upgrade at the moment.  Now had I not had the Nexus 5 yet, I might get the Moto X over it.

I guess comparison varies on what kind of use you give to the phone. Some might use it for gaming, others for taking pictures, other for work related stuff or just as a way to communicate with others socially. So opinions will vary....

Customization is just an value add for the customer.

  2. You are comparing two completely different phones.

Given that the next nexus is widely rumored to be made by Moto, why are you comparing it against teh nexus 5?

Because the Nexus 5 is the current phone. Still unsure about the new nexus so cant compare to something that is not in the market yet. Based on my ownership of the phones I had. I can see the pros and cons about the nexus phones against the Moto X 2013

  3. Given the crappy review by anandtech and the growing "next nexus" rumors, I guess it makes sense.

Why buy this for $500 when you could be the next nexus for much less and better specs/no carrier bloat.

It actually makes sense not to buy the $500 model but to be honest I prefer the Moto X over the current Nexus 5..

I love stock android and my previous phone have been Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus and skipped the Nexus 5 for the Moto X, quality of the phone, how it feels in the hand, quality of audio in calls and videos exceed and beat the Nexus 5 in my opinion.

  4. That's terrible. I was suggesting the moto x to my sister who's looking to buy her first smart phone.  Oh, well. I wonder if that Moto's decision or sprint's?

That is a good question, I wonder if its going to Sprints prepaid brands?  The article that AJ compiled made it seem like Sprint was getting the phone.

Really disappointed as I was ready to upgrade to the new Moto X.

  5. Very disappointed in the data and voice connections i got in Disneyland yesterday.  Slow downloads and faint signals.  Sometimes would pick up LTE, but only lasted for a few seconds.    Signals non-existent inside the Indiana Jones line.  .   Worst part is the poor signal drains the battery of the LG G3.  This was my first trip with a "Spark" capable of phone, but I saw no improvement over my S3 galaxy, from a couple months ago.

    Orange County needs 800 LTE

Coverage has  improved on the calling side but data still lags a bit in Disneyland, sites seem congested due to all visitors. There's only one tower left to be upgraded near the park so hope this fixes the issue.

I get great LTE service near Small world

The area around the park used to be very well covered by Nextel especially since Disney used to be a big Nextel customer. Sprint lost that contract and they need to install a DAS system at the park or launch 800LTE

Nextel service was great inside the park but some rides like Indiana did not get service. I wonder if Disneyland had repeaters or any equipment inside the park since the park operated with nextel walkie talkies.

  6. Hey guys, new to the forum.  Just moved to Menifee about 8-9 months ago and the service at my house is terrible.  Audie murphy ranch to be exact.  Just wondering if anyone else lives in that area and experiences the same.  It looks like I just so happened to move into the absolute worst possible spot for sprint coverage, as both sensorly and the sprint website show that the approx. 1-2 square mile area that I live in does not fall into the coverage area of any nearby 4g towers :(  I just need some straight forward advice on if I should be expecting improvement or if I'm just SOL.  Have a HTC one and get dropped calls, missed calls, barely usable data/internet,... the whole deal.  thanks!

Most of the sites are upgraded, just 1 is waiting full upgrade but they are far from your location. Maybe request an Airwave from Sprint to increase your coverage around the house?

  7. I had my first out of town travel over the weekend and here is something that I noticed while being in multiple different cities. Firstly let me state that I have a Galaxy Nexus and can only get LTE on band 25.

Thanks for any thoughts or shared experiences.

I had the Galaxy Nexus for a year, from what I read in this forum and in others is thas the Gnex  has one of the weakest radios, so connectivity to 3G and LTE was a bit bad that it also affected battery life. I used to carry 2 high capacity batteries.

Also, I know that when we got the 4.3 update, it created a bug when connected to LTE and you would fall back  to 3G, data would not work unless you toggle airplaine mode. so maybe this is what you are experiencing ?

After a month of all these issues, decided to upgrade to the Moto X even tho it was not pure stock.

get better LTE and 3G bars where I had minimal service such as my office.

  8. Cal Disney Toy Story line

Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

Yup, LTE service in Disneyland is improving even tho every time I go, my Moto X falls back to 3G and have to toggle Airplane mode to go back to LTE.

I have great LTE coverage by Matterhorn, its a small World and the FantasyLand Theater.

The rest of the park I'm on 3G.

Hope those missing towers get upgraded asap and turn LTE on  and also switch the 3G cluster on.

  9. I was not sure where to place this thread but I wanted to share my recent experience while traveling to Italy with my Sprint HTC one M7 and an AT&T iPhone 5.

    I was not sure....

Glad you posted, I will be travelling to Italy in a few weeks and I been looking for info on SIMs. So Vodafone SIM is the way to go ?

     I have a Moto X

  10. No need to swap SIM cards, unless you only have 1 SIM.

Simply go online, activate new phone on the line your want and enter all information requested.

  11. It's weird because there is already LTE emitting from the tower on jurupa and live oak since November of 2013. And the 3G and LTE isn't as good anymore as it was in December-January. It use to be LTE 4-7mbps down and the 3G was 1-2mbps down but now the 3G is back to super slow and I can't even get 1 Mbps on LTE. Maybe they are still working on the tower or something. Hopefully they finish soon because I'm still having the failed calls and texts problem

Network Vision is an on going process, They might be adjusting towers and doing some other stuff to get better coverage. Also lets remember that 3G services gets turned on in clusters ( a group of upgraded sites at the same time) to avoid interference with other non-nv towers.

  12. I've been having problems with the service here in south ridge Fontana at the crossroads of live oak and walmac and throughout the entire neighborhood. I have an iphone 5 and where the sprint branding is on the status bar it's been showing extended with 1 bar. My calls and texts won't go through. I keep getting call failed and I get voicemails but I never received the call. It's not just my iphone it's on my moms and brothers iPhone 5c as well. This has never happened before so I'm wondering if anyone knows what's happening or if anyone else is experiencing the same problems?

Seems like Network Vision is still  happening around your area. I can see that most of the towers in Fontana have been upgraded with a few waiting for NV.
