  1. How do you become a sponsor? Is it through that PayPal donation on the front page?

I would love to check out the upgrade plans for San Clemente and South Orange County. 3G only makes me a sad panda :(

The donate button is on the top right  of this page

Heres the direct link for donation.

  2. I wish this were true!  There's a tower a block away from my house that has a lock on the gate that I turned upside down just to see if there was or has been any activity beyond the gate. This tower according to Sprint is already NV complete but still only transmits 3g. Back haul is not yet installed.  Needless to say the lock is still turned upside down. I pass by this tower everyday on my way to and from work.

NV is turned on in 3G in clusters, so it might be that the 3G that you're getting on your phone is being transmitted by legacy equipment.

  3. So what is the deal in South OC and Ladera Ranch?  Coverage seems to have gotten worse!  I cannot get LTE in any reliable capacity near my home, in the middle of Ladera Ranch, and the area is supposed to have two fully working, upgraded LTE towers right now- am I wrong, or aren't both Ladera Ranch towers now full LTE?

They might be LTE accepted but still waiting for fiber and/or backhaul. Theres more than 2 accepted site in your area.

  4. The site might be NV complete, but maybe waiting for fiber connections. Might take months to go online or might take days.

I live around the corner from a Sprint tower that has been NV complete for about 4 months that is still using 3G. I'm still waiting to get a 4G lte signal from it. According to the Sprint upgrades map this site is complete. IDK.

Yah same here in south ridge Fontana. It's mapped out on lte around here but it was only on for a couple of days and now it's been off for about 2 months now. Back on the slow 3G here

Maybe you were getting LTE from a near site? or probably someone mapped during testing.

  5. Would love to see the Wimax tower behind my office building converted to NV. Services is limited and sometimes unusable inside the building. The closest tower is a mile away.

Depends on the city.  Also, i noticed with the new information being a premier sponsor gets you, there is also the abundance of wimax towers that need to be either converted or decommissioned for redundancies.

  6. Before Network Vision

    After Network Vision

Nextel site. Before it had 4 panels on each side. I believe it still has some legacy 3g panels. Im unsure.
Updated tower in Chino, cant find the before pics. Sorry guys

Looks like 800 is connected? correct me if I'm wrong

  7. does anyone know what the actual "average" of LTE should be when it rolls out? Poster above says he got 5.61 mbps.  From what Ive seen in southern CA, that's the 3G speed for other carriers.

Whenever I do speedtests with my friends they get far superior numbers to Sprint.

    T-Mobile HSPA- 13mbps

    Verizon- 21mbps

Sprint- 3mbps (I was on LTE)

Granted that isn't everywhere, but we did the speedtests at the exact same locations. I'm clinging onto Sprint because of their unlimited and hopes that they get everything deployed but it's getting harder to stay with them.

I heard in the forums and articles that it should be around 3-5 mbps. Lets remember that the  LTE network is still in progress so speeds might vary.

Also, you cant compare to HSPA from T-mobile speeds due to a different technologies.

  8. By the end of the year lte should be covered everywhere guys i dnt kno whats taking them so long tmobile is suppose to have 200 million people covered in the u.s as sprint but they have wayyyyyy more 4g lte coverage than sprint does

Tmobile is expanding faster because they already have fiber or backhaul in their towers, they just upgrade the panels and they have LTE.

Sprint has to run fiber to their towers and/or provide backhaul. This is one of the reason its taking a bit more time.

  9. Absolutely no LTE anymore here in fontana (the tower on the cross streets of cherry and jurupa) and 3G is terrible. Getting .02-.30down and .00-.10up

    -_____-

Every once in a while i get around 4-5bars on my iphone( i usually get 1-3 here) and 3G is usually 1.00-1.80down its usually only for like 2 minutes and then back to the crappy speeds so im guessing they are still testing.

Crews are probably working on the towers.

  10. That is strange cause 4G Wimax is real strong in Garden Grove and Santa Ana areas when I had my Nexus S4G. LTE is good off Euclid and Garden grove. As many of the towers are broadcasting LTE

EVO 3D user here.  After months with no 4G in sight, the weirdest thing happened two weeks ago; I’ve been receiving 4G WiMax feeds around Garden Grove and Santa Ana.  Especially around the Chapman / Brookhurst intersection point with Speedtest calling out 8Mbps and topping out at 12 Mbps.  If I’m getting these speeds with WiMax, I wonder how well a LTE phone will perform.

  11. I been thinking about it since I have the same problem identifying sites, probably the solution is using excel and some formulas with vlookup to separate data. you would need the master database, already updated sites data and the daily updates to merge into one report sheet and have it ready to upload.

    Time consuming but manageable.

  12. I live in an area where 4g lte has been turned on for nearby previously 3g accepted towers for several months now, however, I find my phone to still connects to 3g the majority of time.  I would be fine with the 3g connection if it were consistently 0.5mb/s and above, BUT 3g speeds have NOT improved since 4g lte. I find most of the time my 3g connection runs less than 160kb/s. I thought once 4g came online, 3g speeds would improve. Why hasn't it, and should I ever expect it to improve? Please forgive me if I this has already been answered (I'm sure it has, but I couldn't find it with the search terms "3g faster 4g").

Sprint turns on 3G updated sites in clusters meaning that a bunch of towers are turned on at the same time to avoid having interference with other legacy sites. When a 3G site has been marked as accepted it means that the equipment  has passed inspection but not necessarily turned on to broadcast 3G. Hope it helps

  13. Most of us don't use Sprints wimax service anymore. We're on LTE. So come join the party. Get a new phone ;)

Yesterday from around 2-5 I too was plagued with no LTE. Tower at Lakeview and 91. I could only get 3G to show up. I was still showing 3G even after I got home when usually its the opposite. Finally around 5ish is when everything started working again. Weird?

Had the same issues around the same time you did. Wasn't able to connect to 4G in Garden Grove, right in front of the tower. Near Brea on my way home, neither by my house where thes a tower with LTE for a few weeks now. It came back on while I was at the gym around 5pm.. probable a 4G network outage
