  1. And yet... Study finds Android users now switching to iPhones more than ever.

    For whatever that's worth.

Those studies are always skewed in my opinion. Especailly when they are suppose to be used for analyst to pump and dump@ Just give me techinical data, because it depends on where the studies were taken, and  how they were taken, The last study that I saw showed Amdroid with a commanding market share and growing and only losing like .8% to Apple the last quarter so far....

  2. Apple needs to produce a larger screen handset next year.  At one time, the iPhone screen seemed huge.  That time has long since passed.  And a fair number of users are passing on the iPhone because the screen is now too relatively small.

    AJ

Realllllly, when was that. I can say that when it 1st hit the scene it was an amazing devide, but the draw back for me 1st hand was that the damn screen size was as small as my HTC Pocket PC Windows phone. Had Microsoft expanded on that Phone they would be sitting pretty. One of the1st phones with  an OS and pen. In my opinion size was 1st and fore most iPhones achilles heel, then it was too much iControl.

  3. Don't confuse properly calibrated and accurate with washed out. Most phones, especially Samsungs with AMOLED, are extremely saturated to the point of complete inaccuracy. You may very well be seeing a phone with an accurate panel for the first time. Granted blacks could be blacker, but the Nexus 5 screen is really very good. See this review of the screen.

This took a while for me to conceptualize given the saturation of color that most screens desplay. The Nexus 5 is very accurate reds blues, whites, yellows, and blacks, blacks are not as rich or dark as the Amoled Samsung screens.http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Google-Nexus-5-Review_id3479

  4. More than likely the brightness was turned up all the way, I noticed this myself when I first got the phone.  I have my brightness at about 25 percent and it looks a lot better and is still very much usable in direct sunlight.  With that being said though, I still think the screen on the One is still the best on the market.

I agree with you on this one for sure!

  5. it looked nice with the purple mountain background but things like the play store just looked washed out compered to the g2 and of course my s4

Thats the oversaturation that you see there. Phone Arena did a Nexus 5 Screen only review vs other phones and guess who has one of the mpst accurate true to life color reproduction....That's right the Nexus 5!

  6. I took a look at the n5 today and the screen seems very washed out. I compared it to the lg g2 and it just looks dull. Reminds me of the evo 3d I'm unfortunately using since my s4 is bricked.

Did you change the back ground colors at all. I have the bubbles home screen and a black back ground and I can see my apps from all angles. This was achieved only after lowering my screen brightness settings. The phone is not as saturated color wise like my SG3, black is not as rich, but over all I am pleased. When the brightness was higher I was not as pleased as I am now. Don't get me wrong it still is a little washed out but barely from side views with black. If anyone has this just lower the brightness settings, and use a black back grounf and try using the bluish black buubles screen and the phone looks extremely sweet from all veiwing angles.

  7. After having this phone since Thursday night I can say that I am truely not missing my SG3. I was a bit botherd by the color appearance until I turned the brightness down in the display. Once I adjusted the brightness I was blown away with the appearance. You all should try lowering the screen brightness as well. With the brightness adjusted lower I was able to see the phone from an angle very clearly with out that washed out appearance. The Screen review about the Nexus 5 screen on PhoneArean was dead on. I set my backgroung as black and everything just pops.

The colors are not as saturated as the SG3, nor is the black as rich, but everything else is dead on color wise. The screen is sharp, and crisp, and the white is much whiter than my SG3. The speaker is louder, and I get better battery life than the SG3, and dare I say that the antenna sometimes picks up LTE inside my home where as before that never ever happened.

Although this thing is made of plastic it is easier to hold than the SG3, my SG3 felt slippery to the touch and grip. They both are sturdy phones albeit plastic they are well made plastic. The NS5 seems to have a more visual premium look in "my opinion" even thoguh both are made of plastic.

I miss Touch Wiz to the extent that I missed Sense from my EVO 4 G. Touch wiz has many more features from Samsung that I miss like the Music Hub, and camera settings. I can tell you that I can aprreciate both OS Touchwiz or straight up KitKat, and miss the 7 home screens that TouchWiz gives straight out of the Box. I am using Nova Laucher for the sake of the way the contacts is setup in Kit Ka "preference", and additional home screens.  I have not found any lagginess, and this OS is clean and smooth. My SG3 is slow and a bit laggy compared to this for sure. My SG3 was no way as responsive as this is when cchanging betwee screens and Apps.

What you get with the Nexus 5 is a clean snappier OS, lag...what Lag! You get a beastly radio, a well made phone albeit made of plastic. You get a faster smoother OS, a louder speaker a biggger screen thats much sharper and with the brightness toned down a gorgeous screen that can be viewd form many different angles. Yes, with "brightness" adjusted high it looks washed out but when the brightness is adjusted lower you get nice rich colors. I streamed Netflix in the Pocono's with 2-3 bars with out  skipping a beat on unlimited Data. Better yet I can choose any operator other than Verizon, and I am not locked in to a contract.

No phone has everything,  and better camera software is sorely needed. I can honestly say this is for anyone that wants a fast and smooth OS with every thing top notch at this point besides the camera software, and no contract. This will replace the GS3 that I had with a cracked screen without paying GS3 replacement cost, or replacing it and gettinbg a used phone. I can now wait for a metal Note 4 with tri band, and take advantage of SPARK in the mean time with unlimited data here in NY.. Best of all I am not contract bound and still have an upgrade to use.

32bg Nexus 5 white and lrocking it with my Skull Candy Hesh 2 headphones! Do not be Afraid to try this phone!

  8. Judging by the shipment dates on the Google Play site, the white 32 GB model had the most availability, so this doesn't seem too far fetched to me.

    -Mike

I ordered 32gb white on the 5th and it arrived by the 7th even though it sid 2-3 weeks.

  9. Bummer. Why is it that Nexus phones seem to always have signal issues? I've had both Nexus phones on Sprint and both had signal issues. The Galaxy Nexus was so bad it was exchanged after a day for a GS3. I didn't want a Touchwiz phone, but I needed a phone that was functional.

I really want a Nexus phone THAT WORKS on Sprint!!! Dammit!!

Mine does and has one hell of a signal straight out of the box!

  10. If you're going to stay with Sprint, you might as well get the phone for $200-$300 cheaper by renewing your contract or signing a new one. Cheap phone is the added bonus.

I am saving my upgrade for an expected beastly Note 4, 5 mpnths till the end of my old contract, and 1 up does not cut it.

  11. Somebody on another forum got his and reported that it comes with the SIM pre-installed and no SIM removal tool.  Otherwise exact same as the phones sold from the Play store.

Mine should be here anytime now.  I will let you know if I find anything different.

No simm removal tool huh, seems like Sprint wants to \make it hard for you to switch simms. I don't understand why anyone that knows that you can buy it from google play for 349/3999.00 would pay Sprint 449.00. 449.00 from Google play got me the same phone in 32g vs 16.....tha\t's enough to deter me from buying from Sprint....over paying and getting less for more equipment wise.

  12. Desperately hoping that they have a patch/fix in the works for when Sprint retails the device later today, as it's beyond frustrating to not be able to connect to LTE at all (outside of forcing), with seemingly no rhyme or reason as to why it's happening.

I have no problem with LTE connection with 32gb white.

  13. Welcome to the board. I can't believe a longtime loyal customer would be upset about a $36 activation fee. Activation fees are a part of the U.S. wireless industry. The carrier may or may not waive them. If you switch carriers there is a pretty good chance you are going to pay an activation fee to them as well.

I would not accept them and haven't since I have been here 1997 ok!

  14. thanks and will donate when I can

all my $ went into this N5 actually, I am going thru a divorce so funds are almost non existent

Sorry to hear that, been down that road, but it does get better. Welcome aboard, and good luck. This phone is the best phone to have because of what it offers for such a low price. Sure the camera may not be top rated, and it has a 2300mAh battery, but my GS3 had a 2200mAh battery. Best of all I get tri band Sprint Spark, and can go to any other carrier or use any other carrier simm minus Verizon with no contract issues.

I want a triband Note 4, then maybe on to a Windows phone at some point.

  15. I may end up doing that depending on how long it takes for the SIM back order to come in.  Actually it might work as they are already crediting me $13 for the overnight shipping.  I was very surprised today when I called to correct an order # typo (my fault, I wrote 5 instead of 7) - they immediately offered to get the supervisor before I said a word as the call system showed that I called 11 times in the last few days.  Actually 2 multi-hour phone calls which had lots of internal conferencing and transfers between Support, International, and Telesales as they tried to figure out what to do.  Not one bit of it was I doing the angry customer or demanding a supervisor.

I am less charitable about my attempts to talk with the local corporate repair stores.  I talked with two and visited one and got indifference, misinformation, and an rude brush-off.  The one I visited this afternoon didn't even know when Sprint's Nexus 5 was going to arrive (sometime in the next week or two) and had not read any of the Sprint info posted on this thread last weekend.  They did say that the only SIM cards they had were for iPhone activation which they tried and did not work.

I went to a local Coprorate store and they were oblivious, the Second store was in a better neighborhood, and they knew what I needed when I said UICC simm. 10 minutes later I was leaving all activated from that tech.

  16. I don't understand why anyone would buy from Sprint or Best Buy when they are selling the 16g version for the same price as the 32. I ordered the 32gb white and came out ahead, as opposed to ordering it from those clowns for more.

  17. Is it me or the phone just love's to hang on to LTE without switching to the strongest signal...i.e. 3g. With 3g I have to set it manually, and I get 92dbm inside the house, which is stronger than the LTE 0- -115dbm. While on LTE with it set to Global it never switched to the stronger 3g signal, and people said that I was fading in and out during the call. When I manually set it to 3g people seemed to hear me more clearly.

  18. So after a large headache and much time spent on the phone with various sprint reps on Monday the 5th on trying to get a UICC/SIM card, I was able to get my phone activated yesterday (Nov. 6). so far I really like the phone.

I wonder how people are doing now with getting the SIM.

Do what I did, go to a Best Buy and first see if they have Sprint SIM Cards. They wont' be free, mine cost 29.99. Before I made the purchase, I contacted customer care to see if they would be willing to credit me the amount. after explaining the full situation and difficulty in obtaining the card to activate my new phone, they were willing to credit the amount. It may or may not work for you. I might have been that lucky person.

(I hope this doesn't violate the rules, if it does, then I have no problem with the post being edited)

I went to two corporate stores, and 1 Best Buy, Best Buy said go to a Corporate store, the 1st coporate store did not have it, or know what I was talking about. The second corporate store was on point from the 1st inference.

I am all set up and running...So far I don't miss the GS3, but when I use the camera I will see. The 1st glance I think that the Nexus 5 is brighter than the GS3, but the GS3 seems to have a rich deep black and richer color appearance. I get LTE inside my house where as with the GS3 it was non existent unless I went outside. My system is set to Global just to let you know, and it was activated and set up in the Sprint store by the tech. Signal strength isn't the best and seems to fluctuate between 0-115dbm.

  19. Damn, I need to go to the Sprint store and try to get a UICC simm card now that my phone has arrived. I ordered mine through international chat, and it was back ordered Tuesday night. The order said it would be 2-3 weeks so I said ok....2 days later and the 32g whit is here.....software down load is almost done cya!

  20. omfgggggg

Right after I posted that comment ^^^^^

my Razr vibrated, 2 emails from Sprint

One was a welcome one with my new phone number

    and....the.........other.............was..........................SHIPPED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    *sorry VERY excited

(I may have dribbled just a bit)

Nice to see they are handling the fulfillment aspect so well

I was going to order from Sprint until I found out that the 16g cost the same as the 32g from the GP store. Once I found out that the 32gb version did in fact work on Sprint's network I pushed the button Tuesday night. It arrives tomorrow for sure!

  21. my complaint is with the camera.  coming from the S3, i was given a choice for a "widescreen" option in settings.  in the N5, i don't have this option.  all my pics now don't fill up the phone screen or computer monitor.  is there way to enable widescreen pics!?!?

How does it compare to the S3.
