  1. My fault for not elaborating, I meant without the "update" I know the radio supports it. There is no clear indicator if we also need that update for band 26 or just for 41.

That's so true and just too bad....Sprint just trying to sell phones with certain features like Spark activated to drive buyers to those devices. I see the strategy, but I think that they should let people use the technology once they are paying for service and their phones support that technology.

  2. There is no saying for sure considering that our devices have yet to receive the proper update for band 41(who knows whether we support band 26) But with so many reports of people connecting to band 41 with our devices on the west coast, It causes more confusion.

The device definitely will operate on those bands as reported gere on this site, and every other site. Not to mention it has the same radio as the G2 which connects to those bands.

  3. Band 26? Are you sure it wasn't just searching for a signal. Or dis it actually connect to Band 26 and then get kicked off.

I can only say that it locked on to band 26 for a second then it locked on to band 41 for a second then went to band 50 and parked! This is the 1st time anything like this was ever revealed.

  4. So after my experience at the Sprint store it got me thinking. The tech wouldn't give me a SIM without having my phone there so he could activate. He won't be able to lock my phone down, right? Do the nexus 5's sold from Sprint on contract come unlocked for gsm use?

The same thing happened with my visit. The simm from Sprint WW cam in the mail a week later, and I would have activated via telephone or internet.

  5. When VoLTE comes it will be all data., calling texting, downloads, everything will be data. Since data is unlimited I think that there is a rope a dope going on here. Thin of it this way data is 10.00 for unlimited this way and now it will cost 30.00 for unlimited data 50 for text and talk.

I switched and don't use data so much, and my talk time has not changed so I saw no benefit except they told me that it was better. However; now I feel that I was railroaded into a plan that only benefits Sprint. I just wonder "if" we all hold onto dat for 10.00 and the other plans become obsolete what happens.

Cattle herding comes to mind, but I have not quite put my finger on it except that I thought that the 450 pla gave you 10.00 off if you bought a device full price. Anyone have a 450 data plan contract. They always try to change plans to suit their hidden agenda like Verizon, and AT&T did with their canceling of unlimited data in lieu of family plans to make more moeny when Volte implements VOIP service......thei motivation is that these plans will cost more when everything is data.

  6. Did you get Phil, Chris, or Matt? I could understand, though, why they might be careful before giving you one of the Simms.

rofl.....THEY said they needed to see the phone to make sure that they were giving me the right simm for the phone. We can't all be like you and inspite of that you are all we have;)

I ordered mine online with Sprint WW first when the phone was slated to come in after 2 weeks. Sprint WW told me I had a 2 week wait for the simm However the phone came to my door 3 days later, and I decided to go to the Sprint Corporate store. The 1st store was clueless the second store new right away what I wanted but wanted to check the phone to be sure.

I have one from Sprint WW laying around somewhere along with the free simms that I ordered from Tmoblie when they advertised them for free!

  7. I see what you did there... In all seriousness, does Sprint need to pull my account up before they will hand over a sim card?

For me they wanted to have the phone in hand before giving me a simm, but in the end I got one after handing it over. They activated it and I walked away. When I called on thephone to Sprint World Wide they just sent one to me in the mail for free.

  8. I've missed a couple of calls while connected to LTE.  It was a particularly weak LTE signal so I wonder if that made a difference on the CSFB side of things.

That is when things fail with me as welll when there is a weak LTE signal, but it happens on other carriers with the N5, and they seem to report it happening when connected to LTE.

  9. Has anyone had issues with calls going directly to voicemail while their N5 is connected to LTE? I use Google Voice for voicemail only. When I am home, I have a solid (usually around -90 dB) LTE signal. I have received many calls while at home, but a handful have gone directly to voicemail when I know the phone was connected to a strong signal and I wasn't on a call. It just happened again about a half hour ago, but a few minutes after that, I received a call without any problems, and I was sitting in the same spot with the same signal level. Time of day and day of week do not appear to be relevant, and there hasn't been any work on the towers in my area in several months. Now that I think of it, it's happened when I was out and about as well, in known accepted and "good" LTE signal areas.

    Anyone else seeing this?

    -Mike

I have had this issue and so have lots of other people on other forums. Google sent me a email to send a bug report the next time that it happens. However with the RF signal weaker after the 4.2 update the phone stays more connected to 3g when I am home where as before it held on to a weak LTE signal. It seems this is a issue that happens when on LTE only for me!

  10. The new radio may not be as sensitive to LTE inside my home like before, however; when I traveled about today outside it had no problems connecting to an LTE signal and stayed connected most everywhere  that I went. I still get that bug for swiping to answer a call where it freezes and needs to be rebooted!

  11. I'm looking to get into computer building so I'm sure my level of tinkering will go up soon.

The talon was bought pre tinkered. Exhaust and suspension work and not much else but it was a fun car. I sold it before I emptied my pocketbooks anymore on it. Lol.

I built and tinkered with a Toyota Supra and it is tinkered to the tune of 700RWHP!rofl...I seem to have a tinker bug I guess! I have made 15-20lbs of boost in 1st ger with a GT4067r!

  12. It all makes more sense now. I'm still not one to jump on the upgrade band wagon right away no matter what it is that gets fixed. They may fix the camera but break something else without even realizing it. I like to tinker with my phone but since I've become more dependent on my phone recently I prefer to just leave it as is.

I guess the techno geek in me couldn't resist....I build all kinds of crazy state of the art Windows based PC's such as home controllers, media storage, and Home theatre streamers, gaming PC's and and was hooked from my very 1st build in 1995!

Last year I built a Windows 12 Server based Home Theater Media Server that has 20 hot swappable drive bays that hold up to 4 terabytes a drive bay. So far we have 2 drive 4 terabyte drive bays loaded with every Cd we have bought in the past catalogued and set up streaming to every 40-55 in LED tv in the home.

If upgrades come out I immediately get them. I just installed the new Google Play 4.50 upgrade from Android police the other day.lol

For me getting upgrades early and testing hem has been a challenge and so far a rewarding adventure 99% of the time.

I bet that Talon gets a little tinkering in your avatar.;)

  13. And why you quoted me for that... The world will never know..

You're too smart for me....lol You said you would not do the upgrade for a camera fix upgrade, and my response was that some Tech sites report that it was more than just a camera fix in that upgrade. I went on to say there may have been a fix that adreesed the radio; which could be why people are claiming a radio bug....ect.ect.ect!

Then I ended with that time would tell if the aledged bug fixes are good or not....forgive my rant!

  14. I'm with AJ. I don't do updates right away. I let the real nerds figure out what's wrong and how to fix it before I ruin a good phone for a camera improvement. Not that worth it to me to have the latest of everything.

Some of the Tech sites that I have been to say that bugs such the problem myself andothers had when answering a call was addressed. Android Police has a lsit of all the bugs and fixes that were addressed. I see everywhere on all carriers on XDA of people complaing of weaker RF signal.

My guess is as someone else mentioned that they scaled sensitivity back for LTE so that the phone could adjsut to other signals when calls and text came through.

My phone does not lod onto LTE as much as it did inside however it does locate that signal sometimes. Now it oparks on 3g, but I was able to answer a call when ity almost would not swipe at the last moment it swiped and answered. Time will tell if this is better or not I think, because the phone isn't cyling all the radios as much...1x LE 3g LTE 1x Lte nothing LTE 1x lol

I like the camera upgrade, but feel it needs a bit more polish, but its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than before. My text aren't delayed now so far;)....so I feel this radio may be better when the LTE signal is everywhere, but they probably should have left the strong signal and just changed the way it interfaced with the signal!

  15. Based on what you are saying it doesn't sound like you were in your recovery in the first place.  When in recovery(twrp) the first think you should do is click on advanced then adb sideload.  Also make sure that your android sdk is up to date.

I was in stock recovery but the problem that I was having was when it went into recovery mode widows no longer saw the device and I had an exclamation point in device manager. I found this information over at XDA. So I tried installing the driver in device manager manually but after selecting latest usb_drivers they still would not load, and the excalamtion point remained. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701

I did every thing precisely as instructed for non rooted devices from the above link.

I decided to try the let me install drivers on my PC and selected the ADB312 drivers and the exclamation point went away. I then typed adb sideload and dragged the original down loaded driver to the open comand line and boom it went through seemlessly.

So if anyone is getting an error after booting into  recovery pull of device manager to see if the drivers are failing to load, and do as I did. Select the drivers from a locaion on the PC and chooose the adb312 driver....wWindows will ask you if you are sure macheine can freeze yada yada yada go ahead and chooe that option and call it a day!

  16. Anyone goy any ideas why when I try to adb sideload i get a message cant read "update.zip". The device shows up when I do a adb devices with serial number. When I go into recovery it ask for the file when I type the name in command it says cant read said file.

  17. Well this is getting old. Visited local sprint store and they say they don't have them. I'm not sure if the guy I was talking to even knew what a SIM was. Just called another store 45 min away and the guy said Sprint does not use SIM cards and that I can't activate my Nexus 5 because Sprint won't recognize the serial number.

I tried chat again and was referred to a number I am going to try here in a bit.

You must go to a corporate store and speak to a tech!

  18. Ordered Nov. 30th. Just got shipping notification today. Hopefully should have it by the end of the week.

I tried chatting with Sprint to get a SIM but they said I need to go to a Sprint store to get a SIM. I thought a couple of people in this thread got SIMs via Sprint chat?

I got one from Sprint chat and the phone came in 1st so I wen to the store and got one.lol
