  1. I can to confirm that there is a significant delay with calling and texts. As I do not receive in a timely fashion nor at all the Google two step verification texts. I ended up switching to the authenticator app. Going to give the delay a little more time and see how to pans out.

This happens to me and there is a thread started at Google by some one from Android Central, and XDA Forums. I also signed into that Google thread. It doesn't always happen but there is a bug thats all ovet the internet being reported.

  2. No.

    Not yet anyway.

    The most common suggested is either 25:0, 26:0, 41:1 or 25:0, 26:1, 41:1

In any case, I don't think it matters much as long as the bands are enabled, it doesn't seem to matter what the priorities are at. There appears to be more to it when connecting to b41, and b26 has only just starting.

If you hit update user profile ist sets all prioties to 1.

  3. For anyone that experienced the Nexus 5 not picking up a call, and freezing I have found that the the phone does not fall back to 1X like it is suppose to and hangs on to LTE signal when this happens. It seems I have had to reboot to correct this issue.

  4. Sprint is doing something as I have zero lte data connection even when I am "connected" it won't send the signal to the tower to upload or download my request sync or otherwise I have to drop down to qx 3g right now... Even then last night text were not going out ...

I have the same problem, and it's been going on the last few weeks. Signal fluctuates from 0-3 bars and disappear here in Throggsneck.

  5. After going out to Long Island yesterday, i have come to the conclusion that Sprint's site spacing at least out into Bay Shore is better than Verizon's. I don't know about other carriers specifically, but Sprint maintained a constant 4-5 bars whereas the my mother's iPhone dropped to 1 bar more than a few times. I also picked up LTE quite a few times and at one point held it while driving on the highway for about 10 minutes.

My old hangouts back in the day.  I still travel out to the Hamptons with no losss of signal  with Sprint. I got LTE signal visiting a friend in Middletown last week. They are expanding coverage for sure. I even get a weak LTE signal in Fishkill where I only got 3g barely. I have friends in Bayshore close to the mall.

  6. Well, have you been naughty or nice?  If you are on the list of bad Sprint subs, then Sprint will update your profile and make sure you are stuck with band 25 LTE 1900 only.

    AJ

I have been a good sub since January of 1997...and for business averaged $200-600.00 a month in bills in the past. I barely use data and still paid for premium data with out going over 1 gig ever and most months maybe use 500mb max! I have given them their moneys worth and some, with the nickel and dming, and poors ervices through NV conversion. They had been best bang for the buck until NV conversion started!

Again this seems to happen only after updating user profile I think!. However Nexxgen checked this out and notices the same thing as well. Others never checked wthe band settings after they manually updated I bet!

  7. I just noticed that when I checked my priority screen now.

Ihave been posting this since the 1st day that I got my MSL. Over a week ago I found that no matter which setting was made the user profile update changed them to the order 25 26 41 automaticly. I wonder how many people "thought" that they had a manual band selection that changed after theuser profile was updated.rofl

It would be interesting to see what the "SPARK" devices band priorities were set at. Seems to me that SPrint is in control of band priorities through the users profile update.

  8. First off, welcome to the forum! :welcome:  Awesome first post! made it count!

Also, im assuming you modified your Band settings, and can you post your settings. Priority settings etc, and can you post engineering screens and signal check shots would be that much awesomer! LOL!

No matther what band priority I choose after updating my user profile the bands reset to 25 26 41 in that order.

  9. The truth is battery life is going to vary on your location and signal strength throughout the entire battery charge.  This screenshot doesn't really explain much because there is no context.  I mean its easy to stretch battery life if it isn't being stressed or if you have great signal the entire time.  I have seen people say the LG G2 can last almost 2 days but in my experience, I usually last about a day due to my work and home area having weak reception indoors for 1x and 3G so my radios are in search mode frequently.

I am glad to see the Nexus 5 being able to last a day or longer but in no way is this screenshot representative of the norm.

This is very true, However after playing with the N5 I have noticed a few things. I ran a sensoryly test in my location and it picked up LTE signal for the 1st time in my area on that map. and I logged it 1st here in Throggsneck, Bronx. The singal fluctuates from .5 mb-17mb down once, but I can make a call, and send text on LTE. The significance is that I am recieving LTE signal while I was inside for the very 1st time ever. I don't know what caused it but I thought I saw an R where LTE or 3g, or 1x strenght signal displays. When the R displays I am making a phone call, and the band reports as band 50. Anyone know what band 50 is, or what the R sybolizes.

1st the signal strength is insane inside I am only getting LTE band 25

2nd no matter what I set the band priorities to after I do a profile update my priorities for all bands are set to 1, with band 25 1st, band 26 2nd, band 41 3rd

3rd for the 1st time inside I am making calls that seem to have better clarity. When all the band priorities are set to 1 after the profile update an R displays when making and recieving calls and N5FT LTE engineering report displays a band 50

4th 3G signal is way stronger inside and seems more reliable than the SG3

5th since my signal does not fade in and out inside as it did with the SG3 my battery last way longer. Most of my battery life in the SG3 was lost mostly to signal search.

6th Today after 5 hours of use I had 40%  battery strength after talking for for about 2 hours straight, and making about 5 phone calls light usage, paling music for about3 hours straight, and testing different band priority settings for a few hours. Had I not tried testing band setting configurations the usage would have been fine.

    7. My phone parks in LTE mostly all day inside which never ever happened with my SG3

Sooooo........I think anyone that has a good signal will enjoy better battery life. I get 10-12hours battery have over 50% with medium usage.

  10. There is so much misinformation on what band priorites and bands to set. On XDA one guys says don't enable band 26. Then there is set all priorities to 1, and then there is set aonly band 41 priority to 1. Why so much misconception or conflicting information?

Keep band 41 as 1, the rest as 0.

Band 41 has the most capacity. Band 26 is not active yet, and band 25 is 'normal' sprint lte.

If you know you have B41 LTE around you...you will need to enable the B41 LTE band.

To do this, do the following:

    1. On the dialer, type ##DATA# (##3282#).

    2. Select "LTE" and select "Edit"

    3.  Enter your MSL for Service Code.

    4. Select "Band41 Enable/Disable" and select "Enable"

    5. Select "Band 41 Priority" and choose "1"

    6. Select "Band 25 Priority" and choose "0"

    7. Reboot your phone (it should automatically do it for you if you exit out of the menu).

    8. Find a B41 LTE tower

    9. Take speedtests and LTE engineering menu screenshots

    10. Profit and brag about it on S4GRU forums.

    NYC Bronx

  11. 4g has been very slow these past few months especially on the d train line in Brooklyn, around 1 to 2 mbps at most, sometimes I won't even be able to connect to 3g or 4g at all.... Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk

I am guessing they have probably jsut over 55-60% of the NYC market done. When they dill in it should get better

  12. I agree it is likely software and will be fixed at some point. Might buy the phone again at some point. If it were a smaller problem I could wait but answering the phone is a big problem for me.

I understand because I have the same issue. Now I am trying to decide if it happens in a weak signal area like inside my home only. Do you have this issue in strong or weak areas. My signal at home is cycling in and out, and it maybe work being done on the towers in the area.

  13. For anyone that has this problem just wanted to provide an update on what I found out, which isn't much. Sprint has not offered any potential solutions and on Google product forums other people are having this issue and not just on Sprint network. Google said to try safe mode and my problem still occurs when connected to LTE. Hopefully this is fixed soon since there was a lot I liked about this phone, but for now it is on its way back to Google. Back to my reliable EVO LTE for a while. Good luck to anyone with this issue

This is more than likely a software issue....a fix will probably take care of this. The only way mines will go back is fiit were hardware related

  14. For anyone like myself that has the problem where the phone rings OK for an incoming call but you cannot answer and the phone then locks up I don't know why it is happening but I think I know under what conditions it happens. At home I only get 3g and never have this problem. At work I am continuously connected to LTE and this problem occurs often, maybe half the time. When my phone is set to 3g only the problem stops.

So, does anyone have an idea why when connected to LTE an incoming call cannot be answered? Both Google and Sprint do not know and Google wants to replace the phone. I suspect it is more of a software issue rather than the phones hardware but maybe someone more knowledgeable has an idea. Thanks

This happens to a lot of people, but to get this glitch evaluated we need to make a runngin list of names that has this issue.

  15. I downloaded the Field Test App but when I try and change anything its asking for the code...how do you get around this? Does anyone know what bands are available in the Baton Rouge, LA area?

I did it this way......it was very simple and straight forward. After down loading the drivers the instructions in this thread got there "QWIKLY"

  16. You should be able to do this with the N5 since it is a triband LTE device after all.  I don't have a N5 unfortunately to test this it out on that phone at the same tower.  No I did not have to change APNs.

If you know you have B41 LTE around you...you will need to enable the B41 LTE band.

To do this, do the following on your Nexus 5:

    1. On the dialer, type *#*#DATA#*#* (*#*#3282#*#*)

    2. Select "LTE" and select "Edit"

    3.  Enter your MSL for Service Code.

    4. Select "Band41 Enable/Disable" and select "Enable"

    5. Select "Band 41 Priority" and choose "1"

    6. Select "Band 25 Priority" and choose "0"

    7. Reboot your phone (it should automatically do it for you if you exit out of the menu).

    8. Find a B41 LTE tower

    9. Take speedtests and LTE engineering menu screenshots

    10. Profit and brag about it on S4GRU forums.

The issue with some folks not being able to connect to LTE is explained here and has nothing to do with any faulty APNs:

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On the phone: settings/developer options and made sure USB debugging was checked.

I downloaded Android SDK to my PC, extracted it to my desktop.

Then in that folder I went sdk/platform-tools.

While holding shift I right clicked in that folder then selected "open command window here"

In the command window i typed adb devices (to make sure its reading your phone) if you get a serial number and the word device it is reading it correctly

Then I typed adb logcat (it will start logging and going very fast just let it go until it stops)

On the Phone go to the dialer and type *#*#3282#*#* you will get the data menu

Click on LTE then Edit it will prompt you for your MSL (or security code) you dont have to type anything in yet

On the PC look at the Command window and you should see your MSL Below is code that you should see look for itemValue followed by a 6 digit number. It will also appear 2 more times in the lines below. Enter that number on your phone and you should now be able to enable the other 2 LTE bands.

    "V/LG_SVC_ITEMS(18638): length =6 responseBytes=REMOVED itemValue=******

    D/LG_SVC_ITEMS(18638): getCommands commandId 200 = ******-END

    D/LG_SVC_CMD(18638): itemID = 200, Value = ******"

If you enter the wrong MSL code in 2x your phone will reboot. Don't worry you can just repeat the above steps to get the MSL Code.

  17. You can select USB charge mode on your phone when you connect it to your PC. It should be in your notification window and entry to tap to change USB mode between USB charge, Mass storage, etc.

Thats what I thought, but for some reason this does not happen. When I 1st got the phone that showed up on the PC in Windows.

  18. Or an alternative method to get your MSL for more than just LG phones is located here for those that don't want to phone into Sprint.

    http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5022-easy-method-to-obtain-your-msl/

Can some one explain why there is no way for me to select  the usb charge only selection. I got every step complete but it won't show up in tje com port so I am guessing that not being albe to set the phone to charge only on  USB is causing this.

  19. Here's the article about the deal if anyone else was interested in getting a T-Mobile SIM. Never know when it could come in handy.

    http://www.wpcentral.com/deal-alert-t-mobile-sim-free

I ordered mine just because, good job and thanks for the information! I am still waiting for Sprint to send my Simm, but I really don't need it since I wnet to a Corporate store and activated my phone last week.

  20. Yes, I am having the exact same issue. Thought it only did it when screen was locked but after further testing it seems random. Contacted Google last night and they said they I am the only one that has that issue. No solution offered other than factory reset which I am actually trying now. If that doesn't work I will return the phone

I am having that issue as well.

  21. I'll visit the sprint store again to check it out and lower the brightness. I guess I'm not a big fan of screen accuracy, the punchy colors just look better to me. I'm trying to convince myself to get a n5 lol

I have my brightness set to less than 25% and I have great visuals and it is brighter than my SG3. My SG3 has more saturated color, but whites are like a blueish tinted hue, and darker. Try setting 25% brightness and try like all of the wall paper for home screen and choose a black or no wall paper background.......this thing is extremely vivid and can be viewed from any angle; However the black is not as vivid and dakr like my SG3. It

I think the panels on the N5 have a problem with the way the brightness is dipalyed on the screen! When the brightness is higer white seems to bleed through too much!
