  1. The bronx is coming along nicely (im happily getting about 15-25mb sec near my home) but its a relief to see other boroughs finally get some love...

I got LTE signal today at Paulding, Gun Hill and Boston road, Arnow and Boston road towards White Plains road..21mb down 5.8mbs up

I tried to sensorly it but for some reason it gave me an error when I tried to map it

  2. No flaming necessary, we are all on the same boat here...and the general consensus here and in most other places is that customer service timelines are usually unformed ones..and the fact that you are consistently getting eHRPD is no indication of better signal or any particular "work" in your general area. One thing that most of us here also agree on is that most areas have been improving as of late, is there still work to be done? ABSOLUTELY! and as I mentioned before, having access to the completed NV maps on the sponsorship page really starts clearing things up in terms of overall progress reports.. you also mention "network tester" without mentioning any particular hardware or software, a bit more detail, maybe Robert might be better suited to answer this..

This is true and where as eHRPD is not an indicator of better signal I have noticed that when the signal strength was 101-101 DBM it would register as 1xrt and fluctuate between that and CDMA. Now it Just shows a constant eHRPD, and the signal strength has increased and I am not dropping calls as I was the many months before this. This CS agent told me that there was on going work in my areas and that I would be clear by the 29, and for sure by the 30th due to network vision upgrades. Those were her words and she seemed to have a grip on what was going on in my area network vision wise.

You are correct that service upgrades have been moving ahead all over the Bronx. In January I received 1.9 mbs down and 1mbs up on 3g in the Bronx. Maybe better signal strength helps eHRPD transfer operate better. I am no radio engineer, but I do notice signal -dbm being much better today

  3. Where in the BX are you located? My service has steadily improved in the last 3 months..all over NYC, and dont believe anything Customer Service mentions to you, your much better off donating for sponsorship on this site and get real info on whats going on behind the scenes.

Throggsneck area, and there is a good possibility that she may be correct. You make a broad statement with out knowing any particulars of "my" conversation. I understand your thinking behind your statement, but it is just a bit flawed. I hope you won't come back and try to flame me for this. Not to mention that today is the 29th and my antenna signal is way higher than normal. My -dbm is not in the -100s any more fluctuating, and it says eHRPD constantly now. Not to mention that she said the ticket shows major on going work in the area that should end today or tomorrow for sure. Areas through out the city have reported what I am reporting, and just because your area has improved does not mean all areas miraculously are online as well. Also let me just say that I am noticing better signal and call quality. The best thing about this is than it's not anecdotal because the network tester confirms this. The singal never changes to 1xrt and only displays eHRPD no matter what the -dbm is now

My network tester says the Cell has wrong values or isn't in the data base can any one tell me what that may mean

  4. How I updated npn rooted stock device to the new Jelly Bean Zip.

1st down load app to your computer. http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/sprint_samsung_l710/eec955eb4a5b.update_SPH-L710_LI3_to_LJ7.zip

2nd "I" took the SD card out of my phone and put it into a card reader and plugged that into a USB port on my computer

Once I made sure that the zip was there I put the SD card back into my phone.

3rd I turned off the phone

4th I held the up volume button, the power button, and the home button at the same time until I saw a flash that said Samsung and let all buttons go immediately.

The phone goes into update soft ware mode and a screen appears with blue writing and yellow at the bottom.

Choose the update from external SD drive option

The blue writing has source files that you can update, and you must pick the update that has the zip L7 file by using the volume up or down key

Once you scroll down to the zip file that is the L7 Jelly Bean update hit the power key and wait until the update is done and reboots.

you are now an updated SG III Jelly Bean user congratulations.

This is for those that think they are to lame or is afraid of making a go of this. Don't be afraid it is really this simple and works.

I hope this helps you un rooted people do what I at 1st thought may be impossible or would ruin /brick my phone. Well let me be the 1st to say don't be afraid to do this NOW!

At 1st glance the settings on the drop down menu is one of my 1st favorite likes.....no more hitting the auto brightness box by mistake when using the settings key form the drop down. Now I am signing off to explore the JB greatness.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO USE THIS ZIP! NOWWWWWW!

  5. It is not, but ever since I've owned an Android Device I've practiced this since I tend to notice certain applications will crash/malfunction or cause some sort of issue. So I just do a factory reset after any major OS upgrade. For me, it's quite similar to re-installing Windows.

Will I be able to keep my files on my memory card after this is installed

    Sooooo.....how to root?

    How to root:

-1st, put Team Epics root from recovery zip onto your SD

-Flash CWM Recovery, or TWRP, through Odin (Desktop version), but before you do:

-Uncheck Auto reboot option before flashing

-After recovery flashes, un hook phone from desktop and pull battery

-Put battery back in and enter recovery mode before turning on phone (Volume Up+Home+Power buttons @ same time)

-Flash Team Epics Root from Recovery zip

    -Reboot into System

You can find all these files here in the Sprint SGS3 Development section, I believe in you

  7. At this point it is what it is, and when it happens it does. So far every one has an opinion of what will happen but until it does happen remember it is just an opinion. That said it is close enough to have me patiently waiting, because I love the GSIII performance over every other phone that I had. Using the GSIII on 3 g is no different than using my Photon because 4G only happened in certain areas, but the GSIII is far more responsive as an over all unit.

  8. Its funny you should mention that , because I was thinking the same thing. We know for a fact that there's at least one live lte tower in the Bronx yet I don't see that listed at all. It seems as though Sprint's own website is pretty useless for detailed information regarding lte updates. Its very vague, mentioning only "speed upgrades". What does that mean? Asfar as I'm concerned that simply refers to standard increases in 3g speeds as part of NV upgrades. I know they're in a tight spot and are playing catch up in lte upgrades and coverage compared to AT&T and Verizon , but I wish they were more in depth with their info.

Well I can say without a doubt that my 3g speeds have increased pretty much every where that I go n the Bronx right now.

Dare I say there may be good reason behind this based on complaints levied by competitors. When Google lately I find minimum results unlike in the past where there were tons of information. If you Bing a topic after Google-ing it you find more information. I like Google but I think that they may be giving certain Companies higher search criteria than others. Try it before flaming me please search a product on Google, and then Bing it.

    What do you guys think.
