  1. I read a post on XDA forums that showed how to get the update manually, and it worked for me! Be warned it took many tries to get it to work, but in the end I was rewarded! "Try this: Go to Settings > Apps (or Applications) and select show All. Then find Google Services Framework and click the Clear Data button. Then click the Force Stop button. Might have to do it a couple times but that should work. Think I did it twice before my phone sent me the notification."
  2. Most of these issues appear to be network vision issues that I have had in the past.
  3. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sprint-adds-new-cities-to-its-LTE-coverage_id34823 Network vision trying to go live in NYC. I know that EHRPD has been showing up a lot recently in my signal indidator.
  4. I Just noticed that my phone is now displaying EHRPD signal consistently here in the Bronx last night, and this morning. I seem to notice from the past that this signal frequency yields a faster speeds. I am in a faint signal area inside my home with signal being from 91-103-dbm. If I go upstairs the signal increases to -85dbm.. Sprint signal does not pass through brick walls that well. 800mhz LTE would solve this weak signal that I am getting am I correct. Because of network vision issues I am having issues with connections and some dropped calls since last August, and while doing a speed test standing outside I got a 76ms ping but speeds never could go over 1.5 mbs a second because of connections issues being reported as I was making the test. I am reporting that I think that network Vision is about to go live here finally in the Bronx.
  5. If you don't care about the cost to be with the boss go ahead to Verizon. They won't be ahead of Sprint for long, and in fact when your 2 year contract is over you may find Sprint as a industry leader, and want to come back. I just hope unlimited will be here for you when you do. VOIP is coming and when it does Verizon will be charging or data usage through your nose. Go read the last stock report to see what their plan is to make money of sheep in the future. I have had coverage from Massachusetts to Florida driving down I95, I694, and I never dropped a call. Here in New York coverage is in most places that I have been including the Hampton's in Long Island. I have been getting faster 3g speeds in the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan up to 1.9mbs, and while I was in D.C. a few weeks ago had decent speeds and coverage as well. I left AT&T for Sprint and will never go back to the King of dropped calls. I was with AT&T when they were Mobile 1, then Cellular 1, and jumped ship after AT&T took over. and once Sprint opened their doors I never looked back. After evaluating the cost of Verizon and unlimited datacompared to Sprint I decided that they were not worth changing, and to stick out the growing pains with Sprint. I can still use my phone to make calls and LTE should be in the NYC area very soon.
  6. Is it just me or does the iPod nano look like a miniature Nokia Windows phone.lol
  7. Man if you want to ditch the phone please don't say it's too big to handle. Just stop it....my girl friend has small hands and handles my GS III with no issues. I see women handling the GS III like champs with small hands....please man up. Using size as a reason to ditch a phone IMHO today is lame. You just want a reason to get the next cool fad....iPhone 5. I personally wouldn't trade any of the newer Android top tier devices for an iPhone! I wish that Razor was sold on Sprint! The battery life and antenna would be killer for me. I handled the EVO and I can tell you it felt good in my hand, and the size was fine for "me". Hell, the Note felt good in my hand also.
  8. $$SPX - http://t.co/Ux7AVw6G #stockchartsAs long as we hold 1405.58 we can possibly test 1440's

  9. Well "that" person was me, and I was representing myself. I got 16mb down in Pelham Bay in the Bronx, your skepticism has nothing do do with the fact that I did get that speed. Again as I mentioned earlier just because you are not able to mimic this does "not" mean that "I" did not get that speed. There isn't any place on the Now network that gets consistent speeds so that is a moot point. I got 1.9 mb on 3g in Parkchester and I don't get that on a consistent basis. Until the city is complete the test will always be skewed speed and reception wise!
  10. I got that speed in Pelham bay area buddy, and its in my Photon. I have no reason to lie. I was in D.C. last week and got 1.892 down and 1.150 up on 3G with a 73ms ping. In queens and the Bronx recently I got 1.92 down and 1.0 up on 3g. In NYC last week I got .873 up, and .413 down on 3g with a 145ms ping. This was on riverside Drive and 158th near the GW Bridge. Also since when is "your" personal experience suppose to negate someone else's on a network with different devices and different locations....wake up! In such instances as these the phone reults is my witness, and to lie does not help the community one iota.
  11. I never thought of this good idea man.
  12. http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-Teardown/9391/1 http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-Teardown/9391/2 http://samsung-updates.com/3149-video-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-disassembly-diy-repairs/ It's "Not" for the faint of heart for sure Scott, and to avoid warranty issues $178.50 next day air round trip to Samsung is a fair deal considering Sprint has charged 25.00 next day air shipping! No 132.00 yearly deductible needed. Now if you are worried about other issues like loss/theft or water damage keep your TEP. This thread was only meant to alert people to other alternatives to TEP, and to show how cheap the replacement parts can be for repair. I don't feel that you should have to sent your phone in when the phone works with a cracked screen. That's my personal opinion, and I list the reasons why I feel that way
  13. Before I pay Sprint 200.00 to repair I'd send it to Samsung next day there and back for 178.50. Not to mention the cost for some parts in my second link was 25.00....really!
  14. Was visiting in DC and did not find this to be true at all. I set my phone to cdma/lte while there from Friday morning until I left last night. I did get fast 3g speeds in some areas though.

  17. I filed for a claim 8/03/2012, and it has been on back order ever since. I have a cracked glass that's usable, and can barely be seen. Every thing functions as it should, and I was thinking just get a repair, but went the insurance route. After waiting until Tuesday I called Samsung to see what the repair cost for a cracked glass was, and I found out that they charge $178.50 to repair and to next day air there and back included in that cost. I called Asurion to cancel and go the Sammy route because I was tired of waiting, and the chance that I could get a used refurbed GS III also help me to come to this decision. They won't cancel, and even though I was never sent the phone they tell me that I can not cancel once I put in a claim. Now this is rediculous in my eyes, what do you guys think. I am going to cancel my TEP and not worry after this is over because I get a years warranty from Samsung, and never had to use insurance ever since being with Sprint, and for 11.00 monthly plus 150.00 deductible I think Sammy repairing is cheaper if you have a case "which I didn't at the time that I dropped it 2nd day BTW" and need a crack repair. I am not worrying about theft, and on my second line want a Nexus when it comes out at years end possibly, and my luck with holding onto and maintaining a phone is stellar so far minus this incident. You can get a cracked glass repaired for 28.00 more and no TEP cost if you go the route that I am going now because of this. Just a little food for thought is all I am providing with this story!

  19. The GS III is on par with my Photon dbm, and antenna bar strength wise. Don't fear this device because it works as good as my photon in all situations including weak signal. The Photon is a bit better in weak reception areas where as the GS III is just as good!

  22. Well you can get a 550 for like 59.00 shipped on sale from Newegg and to buy my Antec earth watt is maybe 30.00 but future proofing for 29.00 more is the best way to be ready for an all out upgrade on that thing lol. The 1.5 ram is definitely a bottle neck, but that system is also very old and needs upgrading as well. I bought a few Antec cases in 2009 and ditched the 400 watt psu's for 650, and 550 earth watts that are used for partial gaming and streaming. I build systems for people as a hobby since 1995 and I am A+ certified since1999. Good luck
  23. Must be an old system...I have an Antec brand new never used 400 watt earth watt I believe power supply. if I find out what it cost for shipping and 10.00 you can have it, but I suggest you upgrade to a 550-500 Antec earth watt green power supply for the future from Newegg. VGA S video....wow this is a dinosaur.....you won't find a new card offering this requirement.
