  1. According to TMUS slides, New York will have 25x25 of AWS. Once Metro's 1x is killed, TMUS will be able to have 20x20 LTE and a 5x5 HSPA+21 on AWS. Double those (peak) speeds!
  2. Surely they must know without a doubt whether they can afford to go to HSPA+21 on AWS, right? As long as they add a h+21 channel on PCS everything should even out?
  3. How is that site still using that spectrum? I thought it's Verizon's.
  4. What would Sprint replace the 1x ESMR?1.4MHz FDD LTE?
  5. If Sprint takes away the 1.25 MHz FDD 1xRTT on ESMR, what will it replace it with?1.4MHz FDD LTE?
  6. But the article?... Sprint says it's keeping 1xRTT for years, certainly more than the 3 years that you're claiming. Even ATT is keeping GSM for 3 more years. "Forced migration from 2G GSM to HSPA can now be avoided, given Sprint's commitment to 2G longevity of the CDMA network." http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-strikes-m2m-deal-u-blox-targets-atts-2g-shutdown/2013-04-22#ixzz2ZucHvj6G
  7. So do you think TMO will implement WCDMA+? If they are, shouldn't they begin requiring it on their phones NOW?
  8. What's the point of scalable UMTS? You need new equipment and new phones so why not just use LTE 1.3 MHz FDD?
  9. But ublox and Sprint just signed an agreement BECAUSE 2G is cheaper and M2M users don't want or need 3G M2M. "M2M customers have historically gravitated to 2G modules because their data needs have been minimal and 2G modules have been significantly less-expensive than 3G modules." 10. Will VoLTE on 600 MHz have at least as much range as WCDMA+ on PCS when VoLTE is launched? If not, WCDMA+ will be TMO's choice for voice until VoLTE catches up.
  11. How is HSPA+42 a waste of spectrum? It's channel bonding, so HSPA+21 phones can still connect. ATT didn't do H+42 cause it doesn't provide any benefit to THEM in terms of spectral efficiency.
  12. Will TMO transition to WDCMA+ or go straight to VoLTE? http://www.qualcomm.com/media/documents/files/wcdma-more-efficient-voice-for-more-data-services.pdf
  13. When's it gonna start this 700 MHz densification? According to Robert, and my own cousin's Droid, Verizon's LTE is plummeting; her Droid got 1.5mbps.
  14. I agree. In areas without NV even started, Sprint can't even handle current customers. Probably wants to wait till TDD is ready late 2014.
  15. What happened indoors? Did you ever go down to HSPA?Also, Verizon has been quoting 5-12 Mbps expected.
  16. Yes. They have a "strong" network because of ?many towers? maybe?
  17. Currently, they use AWS for HSPA+ and LTE. They use PCS for HSPA+, GSM. Also, depending on the market, Tmobile uses the PCS it got from Metro for CDMA but Legere said they're shutting down Metro's network end of 2015. The current iphone 5 supports LTE bands 2,4,5,17. Band 2 is PCS so eventually, Tmobile will put LTE on PCS.
  18. TMUS has a year to attempt to match Sprint's projected 250mil LTE. They currently have 228mil HSPA+ though I'm not sure how much of that is FTTT.
  19. That number doesn't include DAS for TMO pre-merger. Look at slide 18/34 http://assets.fiercemarkets.com/public/mdano/amis/tmopres.pdf The asterisk is only on Metro and TMUS.
  20. AJ said it's gonna be one of the first channels cleared for 600 MHz. Lookup "down from 51 FCC" but that's gonna be a long ways away.
  21. You can view spectrum at FCC.gov. When you get to spectrum dashboard, click on "browse by map" and select your county. Then filter by: AWS-1 and "common names" "Tmobile" and "metropcs" cause metro's spectrum hasn't even merged into TMUS'. You can select multiple "common names" by using "ctrl". FYI, I tried IE, Chrome, Firefox and list controls in spectrum dashboard don't work correctly except in Firefox. Also, the maps sometimes don't load and say "error" but if you try again, it should work.
  22. No. They only have 20 MHz according to FCC.gov and they need to keep 10 MHz for HSPA+.
  23. That plan was made before Softy bought Sprint. It has to change of they're gonna survive against Sprint's urban TD-LTE.
  24. If a tower has fiber backhaul, is it scalable to something really high - like 1 Gbps - with no more truck rolls to the tower? Is this true for "old" fiber to the tower as well as new installations?
  25. Is that because of lack of backhaul that VZW EVDO and TMUS HSPA+ are slow?
