According to TMUS slides, New York will have 25x25 of AWS. Once Metro's 1x is killed, TMUS will be able to have 20x20 LTE and a 5x5 HSPA+21 on AWS. Double those (peak) speeds!- 4,425 replies

Surely they must know without a doubt whether they can afford to go to HSPA+21 on AWS, right? As long as they add a h+21 channel on PCS everything should even out?- 4,425 replies

But the article?... Sprint says it's keeping 1xRTT for years, certainly more than the 3 years that you're claiming. Even ATT is keeping GSM for 3 more years. "Forced migration from 2G GSM to HSPA can now be avoided, given Sprint's commitment to 2G longevity of the CDMA network." http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-strikes-m2m-deal-u-blox-targets-atts-2g-shutdown/2013-04-22#ixzz2ZucHvj6G- 4,425 replies

But ublox and Sprint just signed an agreement BECAUSE 2G is cheaper and M2M users don't want or need 3G M2M. "M2M customers have historically gravitated to 2G modules because their data needs have been minimal and 2G modules have been significantly less-expensive than 3G modules." Will VoLTE on 600 MHz have at least as much range as WCDMA+ on PCS when VoLTE is launched? If not, WCDMA+ will be TMO's choice for voice until VoLTE catches up.- 4,425 replies

How is HSPA+42 a waste of spectrum? It's channel bonding, so HSPA+21 phones can still connect. ATT didn't do H+42 cause it doesn't provide any benefit to THEM in terms of spectral efficiency.- 4,425 replies

Currently, they use AWS for HSPA+ and LTE. They use PCS for HSPA+, GSM. Also, depending on the market, Tmobile uses the PCS it got from Metro for CDMA but Legere said they're shutting down Metro's network end of 2015. The current iphone 5 supports LTE bands 2,4,5,17. Band 2 is PCS so eventually, Tmobile will put LTE on PCS.- 4,425 replies

You can view spectrum at FCC.gov. When you get to spectrum dashboard, click on "browse by map" and select your county. Then filter by: AWS-1 and "common names" "Tmobile" and "metropcs" cause metro's spectrum hasn't even merged into TMUS'. You can select multiple "common names" by using "ctrl". FYI, I tried IE, Chrome, Firefox and list controls in spectrum dashboard don't work correctly except in Firefox. Also, the maps sometimes don't load and say "error" but if you try again, it should work.- 4,425 replies
