  1. That's a Weather Channel thing; they started naming snowstorms a few years ago as a way to help them hype the storms/get ratings. If you read National Weather Service forecasts, they'll never refer to snowstorms by name.
  2. I live north of Albany, pretty much right on the border between getting about 5 inches or a foot-plus. Right now, it's looking like it'll be more toward the lighter side, but a sligth shift of the storm to the west could change that. My parents in Connecticut and my sister in Rhode Island, on the other hand, are right in the bullseye of the storm.
  3. On the sponsor map, 800 only refers to voice. If you want to know about the coverage for 800 LTE, you need to become a premier sponsor, which is an automatic upgrade once you've donated a minimum of $100 to the site. The premier sponsor forum has maps for 800 LTE (and 2500 LTE/Band 41).
  4. Looks like it's going to be exclusive to AT&T http://about.att.com/story/zte_spro2_projector_first_att_portable_projector_and_mobile_hotspot_coming_to_americas_strongest_lte_signal.html
  5. Weird, I've not had any issues with Wi-Fi calling. I had a 45-minute phone interview for a potential job on Friday, using WFC with my GN4, and the woman I was talking to didn't have any issues hearing anything I said. In fact, it was apparently clear enough for her to comment that I sound like one of the company's employees. I wonder if there's an issue with your network or your phone. On a side note, it always throws me off when I see your location because I live about 20 minutes from Saratoga Springs, NY, so I'm not expecting to see UT in your location.
  6. Yes, and as I said I have not had any problems with speakerphone quality - including when using WFC.
  7. I use speakerphone often and have not had anyone say anything like that. In fact, I'm happy with the speakerphone performance on the GN4. I get less "what did you say?" questions from people than I used to when using speakerphone on my S4.
  8. Thanks for the advice, Robert. I'll try that out when I get home. Edit: And that did the trick.
  9. Wi-Fi calling was working fine for me on my home network for the first few weeks I had the GN4. I was away last week for Thanksgiving and since getting back on Monday afternoon, Wi-Fi calling is no longer working. I have the `Network connection error' message in my notification bar. The GN4 is connected to my Wi-Fi network since I can surf the web but for some reason it won't make calls (WFC is turned on). Anyone know any possible fixes? The GN4 is my first WFC-capable phone so this is my first time with this problem.
  10. Agreed. I was able to pay $50 with my upgrade for my Note 4 at Best Buy using their $200 trade-in promotion and other gift cards I had. Now I'm just paying for my service (with the built-in subsidy, of course) for the next two years, instead of paying for service plus a phone installment. With my employer discount, I'm paying less per month than I would with the $60 unlimited + phone installment. Sbusidies/contracts actually benefit some customers, which is why I continue to do them despite many people claiming they're not good. Everyone's case is different and choice is a good thing.
  11. Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize that about Hangouts. I don't need data and voice often, but it's good to know for when I need it and not at home/on Wi-Fi.
  12. After going through my first workday with the Note, I'm liking the battery life compared to my S4. I took it off the charger around 630am and had 42% left when I got home around 6pm (with about an hour, 45 minutes of screen-on time and listening to podcasts all day). With my S4, I would plug it into my work computer after lunch (around 1pm) to charge it because it would usually be around 50% at that point in the day. On the other hand, I got my first reminder today that the tri-band devices don't support SVLTE when I got a No Data error message when a call was coming in Small sacrifice to make for a phone that is a big upgrade (no pun intended) over the S4.
  13. Did they decide not to switch to the 24-month cycle? I used my upgrade on a Note 4 yesterday and now my upgrade date is showing 6/1/16 in my account. I think sticking with the 20-month cycle makes sense for Sprint since it's one of the few perks they still offer that AT&T and Verizon don't.
  14. I had the same issue activating mine. But I am receiving calls now so it seems to be fixed. One of the BB employees when I was there was also having trouble activating a Virgin phone so it must have been affecting Sprint's prepaid brands too. I'm liking the phone so far after a few hours with it. There's no B26 or B41 near me so the LTE connectivity right now is the same as my single-band S4, but the Spark will come handy when I travel. Fingerprint scanner is working well for me when unlocking the phone. Still trying to figure out some of the features that weren't on the S4. Well worth the $50 I paid for the phone after trading in my Evo 3D and using some other gift cards I had.
  15. Finally got my email from BB this morning. Hopefully I'm have my Note in hand in a couple hours.

    Samsung Gear S

Phandroid has received a leaked Sprint document that says the Gear S can get a "connected device" plan with 1000 minutes, 1000 texts and 100MB data for $9.99/month or it can be added to a family share plan for $10 and pull from the data bucket. http://phandroid.com/2014/10/17/gear-s-plan/
  17. It looks they've extended the $200 gift card promotion. The Galaxy Note 4 landing page on BB's site currently says "Get a guaranteed $200 Best Buy gift card when you trade in any working smartphone and purchase the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or Samsung Galaxy S 5." Note the revised wording (no mention of pre-ordering) and inclusion of the S5 as welll. I don't see an expiration date listed.
  18. Thanks. Looks like Sprint removed the mobile data and download booster toggles, compared to this screenshot of the AT&T model from GSM Arena:
  19. Can someone with the Note 4 in hand please tell me if there's a mobile data quick toggle option in the settings part of the notification panel/shade? I saw the option in a screenshot in one of the reviews of the AT&T model, but since Sprint removed it from the S4 with one of the OS updates, I'm wondering if they removed it from this phone.
  20. There's one model for all U.S. carriers? I haven't read that yet. Is there a link to that info?
  21. Back to 349 on Best Buy's site. I pre-ordered one yesterday in store and forgot to ask what the price was. The paperwork they gave me didn't show a price either. I assume it'll end up being 299, it may just take some effort/a price match to get it.
  22. Glens Falls, N.Y. is finally showing up with LTE coverage more than a year after I first started experiencing it in parts of the area. Makes sense since I noticed expanded coverage through most parts of th city (that I frequent) within the last couple of weeks. Now they just need to expand a little farther north to cover where I live, though I suspect the towers that cover me are mostly GMOs.
  23. I sent a tweet to @BestBuySupport this morning asking about something else and got a reply in less than two minutes. I don't know if that was an anomaly or not, but that may be the way to go next time instead of email (if you're on Twitter).
  24. Nice, thanks for pointing that out. Makes things easier not to have to worry about a price match.
  25. Best Buy is still showing $349 on their site. If they don't drop the price, will they price match Sprint's price when the phone comes out?
