  1. Or they're trying to get people out of contracts and into leases/easy pay. Since clbowens got the offer and he has a GS5, which is tri-band, that may be more likely.
  2. The Radio Shack is my town is listed on that document with the assignee as General Wireless and store type as Standalone. Does that mean it's not going to become a Sprint corporate store? Or will it be a Sprint store without the Radio Shack co-branding?
  3. I have not had any issues with dropped calls with the Note 4. I have, however, in the last week or so noticed a lot more network connection errors with Wi-Fi calling.
  4. If Gigaom had "witty" wordplay like that, it might have saved the site.
  5. I don't know if this has anything to do with a better radio since the update or not, but i had LTE (a signal of -109 IIRC on band 26) in my apartment yesterday. I usually get LTE in the parking lot but drop to 3G in the building. Again, I don't know if it's an updated radio or ongoing optimization of the network since they're still in the process of getting B26 live in my area. My biggest concern with any OS update is battery life. I'm always worried it'll be decreased with an update (even with Google saying Lollipop extends battery life). With yesterday being an unusal usage day for me with the update taking a half hour to download on LTE and the screen staying on throughout the installation process, today's going to be the first time I'll get a real look at battery life on 5.0. Hopefully Google's claims of longer battery life are true, even though I'm already able to get through a full day without a problem on most days.
  6. I'm liking the Smart Lock feature so far. I added my Pebble as a trusted device so now I just have to swipe to unlock the phone instead of swiping my finger, which would still be required whenever my Pebble isn't connected to the phone for whatever reason. I could do without the new bright orange color on the Messaging app, but there doesn't seem to be a way to change that (unless I'm missing the option)
  7. Looks like Sprint's rolling the update out as of today Version Release Date Description of Enhancements/Fixes N910PVPU1BOB7 03/05/2015 Android 5.0 Lollipop Wi-Fi Calling Enhancements http://support.sprint.com/support/article/Find_and_update_the_software_version_on_your_Samsung_Galaxy_Note_4/WServiceAdvisory_542_GKB79435?INTNAV=SU:DP:OV:UG:SamsungGalaxyNote4:FindAndUpdateTheSoftwareVersionOnYourSamsungGalaxy Edit: After posting, I checked for the update on my phone and it's downloading now. Size is 1016.85MB. I'll post with any issues I experience as the day goes on (hopefully none)
  8. T-Mobile has a new page on their site that tracks the status of OS updates for its phones. For the Note 4, it says it's in Manufacturer Development. That makes it seem like Samsung is still working on the update and hasn't sent it to T-Mobile for testing yet. If that's the case with T-Mobile's variant, I would think Sprint's variant is in the same situation. Interestingly, the Note 3 is listed as T-Mobile Testing (the next step), so maybe Samsung is having issues with the Note 4's update that they've sent out on a limited basis in other countries.
  9. I'm probably going to be going to Toronto and/or Montreal for a few days later this year. Just so I'm clear, if I use Wi-Fi calling, I wouldn't be charged for calls/text/MMS made to or received from the U.S., correct? What about if I call/text a Canadian number while I'm in Canada?
  10. I don't know if this is what jamesinclair was talking about, but some sites had articles yesterday about the Radio Shack name now being sold off separately from the stores/leases (in an auction with a $20 million minimum bid), so the stores might not be co-branded as Sprint/Radio Shack if the name is sold to a different company. Unless he read something else that I haven't
  11. Nevermind, I saw in the thread about this it's 25/26
  12. I believe the waived access fee is only for people porting their number from another carrier, but it's reduced from $25 to $15 for current customers.
  13. Staples announced a couple weeks ago it is buying Office Depot, pending government approval of course.
  14. I assume that's the case, but to be clear this isn't really a new change to the policy; it's been around since at least the fall. When I signed my last contract in October 2014, it was already on a 24-month upgrade cycle. So if you've started a new contract in the last few months (if you're still using an S4 that's probably not the case), you're likely on the 24-month upgrade cycle. I remember it being discussed on the forum when the new policy started, but I don't remember exactly when that was (I think it was in September).
  15. Glad to see it looks like my local store isn't on the list since the nearest corporate Sprint store is about 45 minutes away. it'll be interesting to see what happens to the third-party store down the street from the Radio Shack location.
  16. According to the article linked below, which I happened to read yesterday, Radio Shack is down to fewer than 900 dealer stores (I assume that's what you're referring to when you say franchised locations) with 4,000 company-owned stores. http://www.dallasnews.com/business/retail/20150131-radioshacks-small-town-strategy-ruled.ece
  17. Amazon and Brookstone apparently are also interested in buying some of the stores http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-03/amazon-said-to-mull-buying-radioshack-stores-in-retail-expansion
  18. I've only had an issue with Wi-Fi calling once since I got my Note 4 in October, and that was apparently a temporary nationwide issue Sprint was having. Other than that, i find it works great and I use it whenever I'm home or on another Wi-Fi network that I can use it with. If you feel it doesn't work well, it could be related to its quality related to the G3 specifically rather than a general Sprint issue.
  19. Do you prefer Colbie? That's the name the CBS affiliate in Connecticut -- which has been naming New England snowstorms since at least the mid-90s -- has come up with for a name.
