Sprint to enforce roaming data limits, send SMS notifications
kineticman replied to Rocket87's topic in General Topics
Out of curiosity, how is cell coverage in rural Alaska? You seem like a fella that would know. I did some searching and ATT looks to be the 'big' carrier there but coverage maps looks rather centralized to the southeast areas of the state. -

In a shameless attempt to raise my rankings, and raise money for the website, if this post gets "25 likes", I'll donate $25 to the website. And, to sweeten the pot, I'll double the amount if AJ likes this post as well! Get clickin' on "Like This" to keep the lights on! ***EDIT*** And that was quick! 45 minutes and I've reached 25 likes. No "like" from AJ yet, so let's all give him until tomorrow to see if we can break his stubborn streak of NO LIKE policy. *** EDIT AGAIN *** The skies have parted and AJ has liked the post and so did many others. Thanks for the support of the website. I'm a man of my word - donation on the way!

Sprint: 800 MHz rebanding project nearing completion
kineticman replied to Rawvega's topic in General Topics
One of the best posts I've ever read on here. Classic. -
I Was with brother In law today and he was complaining that he couldn't get webpages to load where we were. He had Verizon lte - nearly full bars. I had NV 3G. Data was running smooth as silk on Sprint - he actually asked to use my phone! First time a Verizon user has asked to use a Sprint phone for a connection?

Hang in there - major cluster launch for rest of town last night/today. Downtown is last but almost all sites confirmed done. We are estimating next week or week after for downtown.

Get into Field Test mode and look at 1x. If the "System ID" is 5 digits and starts with "22", then you are on 800. You can't be connected to LTE to look at the 1x screen though (you can disable in Settings/Cellular).

They have flying machines that go into SD? I thought it was only pony express out there? [emoji1]

Let us know when you see progress on that site! We are all anxious like you. Iphone 5 only supports B25. 5s/5c supports B25 and B26. b41 isn't yet supported by apple - it likely will in newest phone. B25 is the 1900mhz lte band - most common. B26 is 800mhz and similar to b25 in bandwidth but has better propagation characteristics (will likely travel further). B41 has the most bandwidth - ie a 'bigger highway' and will amazing when it's fully deployed. We have some in Columbus already.

I haven't seen anything in progress in Hilliard or Dublin area. All we can hope is they are on the roof tops.
-
I did see one crew on a tower converting from GMO to full build. But other than that, all is quiet. I suspect there is a hold up on the roof top sites and holding up the rest of construction.
-
Yes - there is a couple towers live in that area. Still needs more coverage to the north side of Hilliard though.

Milestone! The first known site with construction in the market is finally on!
-
Awesome! They held out long enough for you guys. Glad they finally launched.

GMO isn't necessarily a bad thing if they can do full build with 1900 lte.
