  1. I forgot about the photon q but the penny price is for a new line of service only, its 39.99 if upgrading or adding a line.

Sometime after new years it went penny for upgrades, that is what I paid for my wifey's upgrade.

  2. With Samsung it can be as few as two. There is a Samsung RRU that is capable of CDMA and LTE 1900 and a Samsung 800 RRU. They look different too.

At a Samsung site' date=' a third and 4th RRU are only needed for high capacity sites. Ericsson RRU's are as jefbal describes. At least until Ericsson comes out with the RRUS12.

Could that be why in west michigan we are seeing the single rru install?

  3. The title of your thread is a little misleading. I haven't heard about any sites in orange county that are not getting converted to LTE.

The biggest issue is suburban sprawl. You are right' date=' nobody is going to want a cell tower in their backyard of a giant master planned community. It's particularly annoying in places like orange county because a planned community can be very large. If you live in the middle of one of these communities, coverage, regardless of carrier, will be problematic. It has nothing to do with the city but people just don't want a booming tower in the middle of their cookie cutter housing development.

At the end of the day, it is peoples choice to live in these large communities with no cell coverage.

He is wrong about coverage though. With sprint deploying CDMA 1x Advanced voice and LTE on 800MHz ESMR (old nextel spectrum), coverage in south orange county will improve significantly.

I don't really think Sprint coverage is all that bad in Orange County.[/quote']

I wish my new subdivision had a tower in it, my coverage is going to be sketchy and I'm going to need an antenna setup to have in house LTE. I won't have high speed internet so phones are all we will have.

  4. I'm not aware of a Kansas LTE 800 FIT. In the docs I seen, it referenced "New Orleans and Montana LTE 800 FIT's". However, these docs were from Spring 2012.

The FIT plans could have changed since then. I've not heard a peep about LTE 800 FIT's since that time.

To clarify, AJ has only found what appears to be CDMA 800 in Kansas so far.

I saw AJ's screen shot from Kansas, if that is 1xA, what would be different about an LTE carrier?

  5. It appears that in Kansas, iDEN has been taken down from SMR. AJ can't find it in his spectrum sweeps. Just CDMA 800 has been located.

It's possible that iDEN has been shunted to 900MHz to finish its final days to euthanasia. If so, that would leave LTE 800 free space for some testing and then deployment.

Is Kansas one of the SMR LTE FIT locations? We knew Montana and Louisiana, correct?

  6. i did quote you ;) but i like the idea of 5x5 and just running more as needed. Sounds like an efficient solution. I would love to see an LTE connection in Tulsa from Sprint soon, Verizon has had LTE here since mid 2011 and AT&T got it turned on in November.

Most of the current LTE phones only support 5x5 carriers. I wouldn't expect to see anything bigger until Clearwire's BRS spectrum comes into play. Sprint can monkey around current PCS spectrum for additional 5x5 LTE carriers, if needed.
