  1. I don't see why not. I recently got my Nexus 5 update and it wasn't activated either. Other option is Kies if you want to install that on your computer.

Or side load the update via stock recovery

  2. How is the radio on the S4? Deciding between the S4, Nexus 5, and LG G2 for a new phone. Signal is important since I live in a rural area!

I went from the Note 2 (one of the best RF phones) to the S4T. I'm rural as well.

I keep LTE in places I had no service, this thing is beyond the RF of the Note 2. The only odd thing is being triband/non-svlte I bounce between 3G/LTE a lot more. I will drop to eHRPD quicker, but I pick up LTE quicker too.

I was debating the N5 and S4T, went with this device because the RF of the N5 has gotten worse with each modem/baseband release.

  3. Last question for now, I haven't been able to successfully get my MSL via getprop on the NC6 stock rom.  Are there any tricks with this device to getting the MSL?  I tried the tool referenced in your signature, but the MSL provided is not accurate.

Edit In: Got MSL, ran the app again, but first I went to the ##DATA# and hit ok for an error.  It generated a different MSL that now works.

  4. I've had two oddities in the two days I've had this phone, want to see if anyone else has seen these...

    1. Twice on Saturday, I would get or make a call, then my phone had no audio input or output.  I would make a call and the other party could not hear me and I could not hear them.  Both times a reboot fixed the issue and it has not occurred since.

    2. SMS goes through very randomly.  I'll have very simple texts that will sit and clock for an hour before going through.  I currently have an SMS to my wife that has been sitting for 10 minutes and this is after I deleted the first attempt that tried for 5 mins.  I had a MMS that took 5 hrs to send yesterday

I'm in a fully upgraded/integrated NV1.0 area with new Samsung eCSFB (from a motorola/nortel mix) with a very strong -75 ish LTE signal.

  5. Been on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Got back last night. Gotta clean up some Columbus Market stuff then I'll be checking out some other things.

No promise on a KK digiblur/coziblur though. But I'll definitely look into it.

Hope you had a great trip. We did our first anniversary in DR.

I'm actually moving on to the S4T tomorrow (have your seen the RF on that device?) and wifey is getting the N2. She killed her Photon Q and I was upgrade eligible.

    Good luck buddy!

  6. Unfortunately, no Spark around me.  Lansing has a few WiMax protection sites, Grand Rapids was a launched WiMax market, but they are in a later phase for B41/TD-LTE deployment.  I live right between the two and get weak, but very usable B25 LTE.  We don't even have B26/B10 yet in Ionia County, thinking it must be due to a the county sheriff's radio stuff.

The Note 2 was an RF beast, reading that this is even better will be very nice.

  7. They wouldn't know, Amazon sells such a mass amount of smartphones, no way to tell. Best way is to tell them upfront... If the model isn't a 720T..you will be returning. Be warned... If you return the phone... Amazon will gladly accept the return... but..in my experience.. .they took their time sending the upgrade status back to my carrier. Consequently.. I couldn't get an upgrade for two months, because the carrier didn't receive information from Amazon that I returned my phone.

That's just my experience.. Amazon has great prices, but know once you lock into the contract.. you cant terminate the contract for 180 days, without being charged an ETF from carrier and $250+ or more from Amazon.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I went through the comments/reviews and people have been getting the S4T for a couple months now.

For a penny and the best RF, I had to order it.

  8. Has anyone ordered the Samsung Galaxy S4 from AmazonWireless and confirmed that they are shipping the Galaxy S4T?  My wife left her phone on the roof of the car and it has died a horrible, horrible death.  I'm upgrade eligible and the S4T seems to have the best RF of any current Sprint devices.  I just want to ensure that we'll get the Spark version and not the original S4.

  9. Heh, I wonder if this update includes Knox 2.0 and an updated bootloader?  I fell for 4.3 and got my bootloader updated so I can't go back.  I think I'll stick with Omni until I hear confirmation on these things.  :nono:

I'm going to wipe and go back to 4.3 stock and then take the upgrade.  I'll let you know

  10. My only problem with this is that I find it very hard to believe that 5GB is the top 5%.  As I've stated many times, we don't have High Speed Internet at home.  My wife uses her phone for Social Networking (Facebook/Pinterest), a little Netflix, web surfing, email, and runkeeper.  She's close to 4GB per month and not a "power" streamer.

I have no problem with the throttling and have previously suggested it (possibly to my own detriment as I regularly use 15GB), however, I'd love to see the data behind the Top 5%

  11. Currently, handsets that use Qualcomm LTE capable chipsets also have CDMA2000 capable chipsets.  But that capability will not be implemented.  Count on it.

CDMA2000 is dying.  And the namby pamby Eurasian centric rest of the world is basically flipping the bird at VZW, Sprint, and by extension, the US.  It pisses me off to no end.

    AJ

I didn't know that about the Qualcomm chipset.  I wonder why they are ignoring such a large segment of the market skipping Verizon and Sprint.  Perhaps they didn't want to deal with trying cut a deal to get the IMEI's registered for CDMA to function properly or maybe or was a licensing thing for utilizing the CDMA chipset.
