  1. This is the newer version of what I use (I have the original xProDock)....I've been very pleased with it, and it will adjust to fit all normal to larger sized phones (the smaller ones like the 'Mini' Galaxy S phones might still work with a large enough case as well): https://ibolt.co/car-docks/smartphone-mounts/android/xprodock2-connect-kit-car-docks-phone-mounts-holders They have a companion app for it, but I use the Ultimate Car Dock app instead.
  2. Understood, and I certainly wasn't trying to suggest that the 2013 version had no issues either - just that my understanding was that there was a definite difference between the two in terms of how they'd handled the upgrade. I can certainly corroborate that there were no performance issues with the 2012 version on KitKat, and I certainly wouldn't say there are no issues now on 5.1 either - there's still lag/hesitations off and on- just that there was a noticeable improvement over the comparatively abysmal experience with the 5.0.x versions.
  3. Just curious, but are you sure you're talking about the 2013 Nexus 7 and not the 2012 version? We have a 2012 version and its been kind of hit and miss on the performance, though it improved with the latest 5.1 push from the original 5.0.x versions. From what I'd read, the 2013 N7 wasn't affected quite as acutely - and that's the version AJ was referencing in his post.
  4. I couldn't find the exact article I'd seen pop up on my phone, but the initial one I read did actually reference video from the Google presentation at least plus a few references to something published on Verge and BGR I believe (not that anyone's a huge fan of the latter in particular). Otherwise, I am totally with you on the whole strange trend of odd sites popping up breaking news on things AJ....from 'Christian Today' to 'Latino-(whatever)' to 'Chinatopix'....I was beginning to think I was the only person who was seeing those popping up so often, you're the first person I've seen openly commenting on it to be honest.
  5. Hadn't seen anything anything on this at least in the LG subsection (if info exists elsewhere, please feel free to lock if needbe mods), but Google Now passed this my way the other day: http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/nexus-5-2015-to-come-with-new-android-m-features-including-fingerprint-sensor-and-usb-c-port-30048
  6. Its been a long while, unfortunately, since I've added anything to the pot as I did in my heady bachelor days when I sat at #2 behind AJ on the initial Honored Premier donation list prior to moving to PA with higher cost of living and other more personal/private financial burdens post-marriage....but when the head of the S4GRU family says he needs help keeping the ship afloat, if you truly feel a part of that family, you do what you can to step up and help protect it. Donation sent, and though I can't commit to the regular funding level I did once upon a time here, I'm taking AJ's example and for now at least, committing to setting up a small recurring monthly donation as well starting sometime next month (assuming I don't forget - feel free to give me a nudge on that say mid-July Robert). When you consider AJ's point of view, I think there's easily enough of us here that if we all consistently threw in a few bucks a month as AJ is doing, there should be no issue really with funding. One last thing that I believe I suggested when i first joined, and still firmly believe in: if there's any way possible to incorporate a visual funding goal gauge/bar say underneath the donation button, I think that would help prompt people that still aren't comfortable with setting up a recurring donation to throw a bit into the pot when it doesn't yet show full for the month. I've seen this sort of thing on other forums at least.
  7. For anyone who's a fan of Zerolemon's cases with the high capacity batteries (i have one for my current Galaxy S4), I got confirmation that they're planning on releasing one for the G4. No firm ETA yet but its coming.
  8. You know Robert, based on the observation of other newer (or perhaps non-acclimated would be a better description) member/poster comments regarding AJ's, shall we say, 'forum demeanor' over the time I've been here, I have to wonder if this blurb wouldn't be beneficial to be added to the S4GRU FAQ thread.
  9. Just to point out, there's both an Android app (iPhone coming soon it says) as well as browser extensions for this as well. I created an account and put the app on both mine and the wife's phones, and we went through and added everything we might possibly ever use to the Favorites list. I also added the browser extension to Chrome on my primary PC at home.

  11. Looks like the 808 is official per the Anandtech article: http://anandtech.com/show/9199/lg-announces-the-g4-5-5-inch-qhd-with-snapdragon-808
  12. Release date is May 31st, device confirmed to have a 16MP rear camera: http://www.techradar.com/us/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/lg-just-confirmed-the-g4-release-date-along-with-some-other-interesting-details-1291462
  13. Did they post what grapkoski was linking about prematurely? Though I see the update date showing the 17th, the info still shows OA3 as the latest when I viewed it.
  14. I did yesterday when I checked but there wasn't one yet.
  15. No clue in terms of how soon, but its further evidence they're still working on it.
  16. OC5 appears to be the latest RDF for the 720T (still showing OSVersion 5.0): http://device.sprintpcs.com/Samsung/SPH-L720T-SPRINT/OC5.rdf
  17. Fair warning well ahead of time, but if the first Lollipop release for the S4 is 5.0.x, I wouldn't be rushing to update right out of the gate based on pre-5.1 experiences on several different devices (tablet and phone alike)....my only Lollipop experiences thus far are with a 2012 model Nexus 7 tablet but much of what I've read as it relates to other devices having gotten a 5.0.x upgrade from KitKat seems to have alot of similar performance/possible memory leak issue themes between them.
  18. Here's a helpful link in case Robert joins you in S4GRU Dynamic Duo Road Trip fashion: http://www.yellowpages.com/anchorage-ak/fried-chicken-restaurants
  19. Here's the twitter source of the leaked images: https://twitter.com/OnLeaks
  20. Yes, the update on the article says its a more middle ground or 'subtle' curve comparatively to the Flex series. I'm just not much of a fan of any curvature though on a phone.
  21. Appears that the G4 will have a curved body....not sure I like that aspect: http://www.techradar.com/us/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/early-lg-g4-press-render-leak-reveals-a-curved-design-1287848
  22. I ask this sincerely, but how long had it been around? For whatever reason I had never even heard of the site until within my first year here on S4GRU.
  23. Here's a link to the supposed Sprint user agent profile for its version of the G4 (open in IE to see properly): http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS991-SPRINT/latest If this thing comes with a removable battery, I may be leaning its way when I choose to upgrade given the GS6 has done away with that.
  24. 4.4.4 was originally supposed to release around November though; based on everything I've read between now and then, I feel fairly certain that there was a change of plans somewhere in the mix to drop work on those builds and to go ahead and jump right to working on Lollipop on a number of Samsung devices at least. jef's RDF links certainly back that up as far as this phone goes.
