  1. I hope so. Even Samsung after introducing it to the Note 2 realized that it was a cool feature and eventually brought it back to the GS3, GS4 and Note 3. I hope LG brings this functionality in the G2 Kitkat update as well as to the LG Optimus G and LG Optimus G Pro phones as well in hopefully a kitkat update for them as well.
  2. Look at this cool mod that was ported from the LG G Flex onto me G2!!! Dual window mode like Samsung.
  3. Check out the link below. EARFCN stands for EUTRA Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number http://lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+EARFCN
  4. Something about your EARFCN values are off. The Also B26 is 800 MHz and B41 is 2600 MHz. That 8817 DL channel in your screenshot does not match up to a valid frequency range that Sprint owns.
  5. So you set the phone to use CDMA only in Network Mode settings and still getting LTE? Have you tried rebooting the phone with the CDMA only setting to ensure that it doesn't need a phone reboot in order to take effect?
  6. It shouldn't matter if you have the Network mode set to Global and LTE/CDMA in terms of finding LTE. My G2 is set to LTE/CDMA network mode and I have no trouble connecting to LTE at all. Every time you switch Network modes, it forces the phone to go and scan for a signal. It might have been a placebo effect. You might just be in a LTE fringe area which is why it bounces in and out. But if it works for you go for it.
  7. Don't have any call quality issues here. Besides that is what your 14 day trial period is for...to test out the phone to see if it meet your needs. If it does become an issue and you don't trust LG to address them in a future update, maybe you might have to settle for another phone.
  8. I personally don't think it adds too much bulk but it depends on the person. Also no the case doesnt cover the back buttons at all. You can see the LED light. Basically the picture u see is what it looks like Sent from my LG G2 LS980 using Tapatalk
  9. Yup that back power button LED lights up when you receive a phone call. Its kinda cool that LG incorporated that feature.
  10. I like your case in your avatar. Got the same one except in Infinity White.
  11. You should be using the notification window pulldown button in the navigation bar so you avoid this issue.
  12. Use Imgur.com to post screenshots. You can resize them for message boards for 640x480 resolution. It makes them very nice size without taking up too much space. What is great is that they have an auto-resize option so that when you drag and drop the pictures you want to upload it automatically resizes them for message boards and provides a sharing link for it.
  13. Unfortunately I have the LG G2 and we are still stuck on Android 4.2.2 so I don't have the option for ART anyways. I'll be curious to see if LG will include the ART option in the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the G2 at some point in the future. I would love to test it out.
  14. Yes the last 2 digits of the GCI is the tower sector. In terms of looking up tower location there is no master database to translate the GCI, PCI and TAC information into individual towers. It will have to be a manual laborious task to get that information in your market. Of course you can rely on others on S4GRU that live in your area to help with that task to provide those pieces of information. I wish it was as simple as it is to find CDMA tower on SignalCheck.
  15. FYI, you can verify if two LTE phones are connected to the same LTE site if they have the same GCI, PCI and TAC. Depending on your phone you might not get all 3 pieces of information but the G2 shows all 3 pieces of information. Had you had both the Note 3 and G2 with SignalCheck installed and both connected to LTE, you can easily look at the GCI, PCI and TAC information to verify if you are connected to the same LTE tower. If you stand in the same place you can get a good idea what the difference in signal levels are between the 2 phones. This is how you would verify your claims at church and in your basement. This sort of testing is how some folks have claimed that the Nexus 5 has a 10-15 dBM better LTE signal RSRP than the G2.
  16. Well given that the majority of apps are not ART optimized and the framework itself is still probably buggy, I still say that ART is off to a good start thus far. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
  17. What were you signal levels on Signalcheck at the time your GN3 when the G2 was sitting on 3G? Did you do an airplane mode cycle to try to get 4G back just to see what the difference in signal levels were? It is good to know the difference in signal levels between the devices at the same location. Are you sure both devices were connected to the same tower? Signalcheck screenshots on your phone would help verify this information. I didn't say the modem settings are easily tweakable in any menu or anything. Basically as part of flashing the stock ROM there is a "modem.img" file that is flashed just like how "recovery.img", "boot.img", "system.img" files are flashed as part of the process. What I was saying is that it is not easily tweakable and LG can tweak these values but it needs to come from LG since it is firmware. So far on XDA there is someone that has connections to get an updated Verizon modem firmware image that early reports from testers claim the signal has improved up to 10 dBm. There is no guarantee that LG will update the Sprint variant with modem tweaks and who knows maybe it is in the works as part of the 4.4 KitKat update. The purpose of me bringing this whole thing up in the first place is to bring some light that LG might be aware of the LTE RF performance of all the G2 variants and is trying to correct any issues it may have learned from the N5 in the 4.4 KitKat update. So far it seems like Verizon variant has been updated first. From looking at the Nominal and Max modulated average power output between the G2 and N5 in the FCC docs, they are pretty much the same so I would have to think they are using the same antennas and modems. I think all of us need to report to Sprint and LG about the least than expected LTE RF performance to get their attention to try to make a case that the Sprint variant needs firmware tweaks in the modem/antennas in the next update.
  18. The DL channel of 8665 is Band 25 LTE. See the link below. http://www.cellmapper.net/arfcn?net=LTE&ARFCN=8665&MNC=302
  19. Any news on when the Sprint version will get Android 4.4 update?
  20. This is why I love Android. The LG dual window feature was extracted from the LG G Flex system dump and was able to work on the LG G2. Hopefully the flashable zip will be available soon. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47763734&postcount=60
  21. That is because the references I am talking about apply only to imgur..LOL. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
  22. Anyone create a GCI, PCI and TAC spreadsheet of confirmed LTE sites in LA Metro?
  23. Are you using imgur to post pictures? If so on the auto-resize pull down menu, select "640x480 message boards" and then drag and drop your picture to be uploaded. Then select the BBCode (message boards & forums) link and post it.
  24. Wait until they find out that the $50 credits are NOT valid for redeeming on hardware or accessories. Who needs $300 in apps? People just want a ton of these so that they can get a free Nexus 5 or Nexus 7. Little do they know they are getting duped and they have stolen $50 credits from honest folks. I hope karma bites them in the @ss.
