  1. Is it regular for 4g to be slower than 3g when it is first being set up?

I made the mistake very early in deployment of picking up LTE and assuming it was coming from the closest 1 or 2 sites to me. In reality the signal was coming from a distant site. Don't assume you know which site the signal is coming from. Confirm it before making assumptions.

  2. New Orleans market hasn't changed at all and I know we have towers completed so why has nothing change on the list.
Check the last post in the running list thread. It hasn't been updated since 12/26. The numbers will change when Robert gets around to updating them. I assume he will once again post the updated message when he his done. Patience.

Sprint might not of accepted the sites yet.

I'm not bragging any more. Only one RRU per sector. I'm fearing my rural site may be one of the non LTE sites. I'm very concerned. I will be frowning like grumpy cat until my 4G icon pops up.

Your sweeping conclusion misses the mark in many respects. And I suspect that your conclusion is based on your experience with the Galaxy Nexus, which is an aged, compromised design because of its choice of multiple chipsets.

In devices such as the EVO LTE and Galaxy S3, both of which use a single 28 nm SoC for processor and CDMA2000/LTE modem, battery drain is not significantly greater in LTE mode.

So, I would suggest that you revise your post to explain "Why LTE drains so much Galaxy Nexus battery."

That will put them right in line with the other guys which will kill off the last remaining holdouts in some markets such as myself. Really makes no sense to hang around in this area if I could pay a few dollars more a month to get more coverage. The network cost to customer revenue ratio will get worse causing the cellular network "rut" to get deeper. They've been struggling to pull themselves out of it here for a while.

I think that is why they are waiting until after NV to make any changes to plans.

  6. What's the advantage of removable SIM cards? Besides a "bring your own phone to Sprint", which only really works for devices made for Sprint anyways... I can't say I get it.

I buy broken phones, repair them, and then resell them as a little side hobby for "fun" money. Being able to pop my SIM in to take the phone for a test drive without having to use the online tool, which fails alot, or call CS is a big plus for me.

Should be like you are on wifi. To be honest anything over 10 is way overkill for a phone.

-- "Sensorly or it didn't happen!"

In everyday use I notice no difference between 3G and 4G. The only time I notice is when uploading a photo or file to Dropbox. Picture heavy websites load the pictures quicker, but usually I still use the mobile site for most websites (less ads on mobile view).

They weren't completely misleading. Clearwire had plans to deploy WiMax in the Top 120 markets. But only got to 71 markets before they ran out of money. The market design was complete, site leases being finalized and permitting under way in New Orleans, San Diego, Milwaukee, Indianapolis and Oklahoma City when Clearwire had to stop. New Orleans and San Diego were just about to start. And word didn't get out that deployment was cancelled for 6+ months. Everyone thought deployment was still imminent.

Wow, I was not aware of that. How did I miss this info? I need to spend more time in the WiMax threads...

  9. Ladies and gentleman. I am pleased to announce......

DANVILLE HAS SPRINT LTE. Strong LTE.

I got outbof best buy and installed sensorly. Drove straight home.

Should see my mapping sometime soon I hope.

I also scored an S3 for a PENNY on a pricematch with Amazon. Also met a cute girl there too.

Bedtime and will chat tonight after I get to work. This morning has been an ultra win for me.

Awesome, congrats on the new phone!

  10. Has there been any updates into Hendricks County? Specifically, Danville, Clayton, West side of Painfield? Anyone been out here with an LTE phone that can say if they have LTE out here yet? I see the Sensorly coverage for Avon.

I am even willing to pay some fuel money for someone to bring an LTE phone out to Danville/my house, Clayton, and West Plainfield. I don't know anyone with a Sprint LTE device yet.

I'm looking to make the switch to Sprint.

I might be making a trip to Avon over Christmas. If I do I will definitely check for LTE. Honestly, I check for LTE everywhere I go. I should seek counseling.

  11. Have you noticed how long it takes from start to broadcasting LTE signal? They started this one over by my work. They were wiring everything up at top then they haven't been on it for a couple days. They started a little over a week ago if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure. I am waiting for them to get started on the site by my house so I can do a daily list of what is accomplished.
