It's Lansing, not the biggest population and there are other towers around it. Back in the day I would say yes to high traffic due to the old GM plants, but those got tore down years ago. It is fairly close to the freeway that bisects town. I'm going to try and get some pics with my DSLR in the next few days.

The techs were installing RRUs yesterday.

Ahh that makes sense. I just thought that at this point they could afford to just circumvent the maintenance upgrades to the legacy equipment since they will be all but gone within the next 12 months.

The legacy maintenance is already paid for via previous contracts (I could be wrong, pretty sure I read that somewhere). Might as well, especially if you are in one of the later NV markets.

  3. Is tapatalk really that good? I've always just used the full website on my phone/tablet and have been perfectly happy. Might have to pick this up just to give a spin now.

I am actually so used to Tapatalk that going to the full website of my frequently visited forums feels very cumbersome.

  4. Very cool another upgraded tower in BR!

In Hammond today for some reason ;)

Was digging through the SystemUI.apk code over coffee this morning and saw the LTE icon. Even saw the ATT and VZW ones too. I don't get why they have ours configured to show 4g instead of LTE. It is so much easier to see.

My Tasker profile works good. It texts me and goes crazy when 4g turns on. Ha! Of course I will tone it down once 4g fires up in my area as it could get annoying.

    Nice LTE indicator.

  5. Maybe someone from a different area can answer my question, but when a new market begins to come online, does it spread from the original LTE site (Howell) or does it start popping up in various other locations in the market? Just curious if there's a chance it can pop up somewhere a bit closer to me.

The next sites popping up are not related to the previous sites. There are likely several different companies located throughout the state that are subcontracted to do the work on several different parts of the state. Company A may be working in and around Howell, company B and Company C may be working in Grand Rapids, and so on.

Tis a shame too. Their lineup keeps getting better all the time. And they are developer friendly.

The only one I have tried was my brothers Play for about 5 minutes. I don't think it would be fair of me to judge Sony's phones based off of that one experience. That phone is pretty awful.

  8. i realize this is more of an android question but, i've had trouble finding a solution to this. is there any app capable of adminstrating/blocking incognito mode?

    Incognito in the browser?

  9. sorry for the remedial question but, will the gs2 remain 3g after the NV upgrade or will it be capable of 4g-ish speeds? i realize it won't be lte but, i'm hoping for some improvement. i did search the forums and the internet but, couldn't find anything definitive on this particular phone/upgrade

It will be capable of using the new and improved 3g network, but it won't see "4gish" speeds.
