  1. My G2 is great on all bands, honestly, my G2 is great at everything EXCEPT GPS, even after sending in for service and you know, I'm ok with that. Lol

My N5 is great at GPS and so, so disappointing in the battery department and the radio performance is too good at hanging on which makes for some weird (unpredictable) data connection behavior.

G2 has been my favorite daily driver so far.

  2. I typically got on LG chat and they had the process started after just a few minutes. Then I'd follow the instructions in the email and ship my phone in via my box and my shipment method. If you ship via UPS, buy the packing slip online. Do not pay in store, they jack the price up..a lot.

Edit: LG chat takes sometimes up to 20 minutes to get a rep. Once you have a rep, it's easy. Have your IMEI number ready.

  3. First time the device was "being repaired" for about 5 days before they updated and sent it back. Prepare for the ticket to not have information regarding the repair -- I had to call or chat to get the specifics of the repair. Second time it was 3 days (got there Friday and shipped the next Monday.) Their shipping is usually 2-3 days to get back.

I actually meant the initial call to setup for the repair but that information is appreciated. I'm rocking the N5 and I'm actually getting better than expected battery life so I'm not going to have to stress about how long they take to get it back.  Will be more worried about them dinging and scuffing it up!  B)

  4. @ascertion how long did it usually take to get a call back from LG on the warranty work? I think you've done is a couple times IIRC so figured I'd ask you. I just went to the LG site and did the support request through there.   Not sure if that was the same route you took.

  5. I've noticed, (before and after the update), in B25 or WiFi my GPS is fine, but once I switch to B41 my GPS puts me about 2 miles away. Was the case here in SoFL as well as Chicago and LA.

I can't say my GPS has ever been that great but I'm thinking maybe when L *officially* drops on N5, I'll send my G2 in for a "repair" to see if they can correct that. It pretty much always thinks I'm somewhere I'm not. Ha ha

GPS is the THE one AND only disappointment about the G2 I have ever had. Luckily everything else is very solid with it or I'd never have kept it, better yet, conceded that I won't get rid of it until a suitable LG or possibly HTC (if the bootloader situation continues with LG) flagship comes along. I usually switch devices every 6 to 9 months so that says a lot. [emoji3]

  6. But I don't know why my GPS and navigation don't work since I changed it.

Well, sad as it sounds, I'm gonna bet it's unrelated and because our GPS/Nav is and has always been hit or miss. [emoji24]

    LG G3

Thanks for the heads up guys! I hadn't received it yet either and was in on the early rebate group so I will check in and see what they say.  I'll flip ape $hit if they try to say no but at least there is a way to fix it.  :tu:

This is incredible. I can't wait to see what LG does next. If they keep this up, they might put Samsung out of business soon.

If they don't fix the locked bootloader they are gonna lose the Dev community though... [emoji24] Lollipop is adding even more security with the Kill Switch and the bootloader/root will only get harder to crack. Makes me sad to see it, I just wish they'd do a program like HTC Dev Unlock and just let us unlock.

That said, the display look amazing and I'll def be watching! [emoji1]

  7. Is there reason we still don't have NFC payments?

I'm not sure what you are talking about but we have had fully functioning Google Wallet since day one. Install, setup, buy stuff with phone. [emoji3] [emoji106]

  8. Since I have installed the new Hangouts update...I have sent about 40-50 text messages (via Hangouts) to four different people...at this point...no one has complained about any repetitive text messages.

Question (only because I haven't updated yet, not really in a rush) did they fix the "Smart reply" functionality?? It never worked right for me so had to just set to default to my Sprint number to either keep it from forcing me to user my Gvoice number.  The alternative is that I just don't have the option to change and send from my Gvoice number which is better than the later.

    Thanks

  9. I've experience it HD calls prior to getting the ZVD but haven't seen it since getting the update last week. And I know for sure I've met the criteria seeing as my wife has the S4T and her work tower is NV complete. It shouldn't matter that I'm on 1x800 when calling should it?

I definitely had lots of HD calls on ZVD. Although I just took ZVE yesterday so I can't say much about it yet. I don't know about your 1x800 question unfortunately.

I don't think it matters at all. My phone usually camps out on 1xRTT since I am very close to the NV tower. My girlfriend's S4T is on 1x800 and we have successfully had HD calls - only once in a blue moon though...

We both meet all the criteria that dleewee described above, but rarely experience HD voice. I'm not sure why.

I don't know what exactly decides when you get HD. We both live very close to NV towers, so signal should not be an issue.

Not sure if you guys knew it or not but you can see if your previous calls were HD or not by looking at the call history. It may not matter but I figured I'd bring it up as you could have been on HD and just didn't realize it. [emoji106]

  10. Figures..., spouse takes the update and installs it and naturally loses root.:wall:

Ha ha! Well, if that's the worst that happened, then no biggy. Willing to bet ioroot or stump will work on it. I've been busy all day and no time to even look at this yet.
  11. It was BSR Timer. After updating to ZVD from ZVC, it defaulted to 3000 when the correct BSR Timer is actually 3. Oops!

This OTA looks kind of small. Was hoping for something a bit bigger (WiFi Calling, or G3 UI.) I guess one can dream, can't I? :P

EDIT: If you take the OTA, can you compare Baseband versions? Mine on ZVD is currently M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20046. Wondering if we got an entirely new Baseband as this version matches ZVC, too.

It actually showed 3 when you did *view but when you went to edit, it was clearly wrong, at 3000. If I update today or soon, I'll look at that baseband for you man.

  12. I believe it may have enabled full 3G roaming on Verizon and other regional carriers depending on your location.

No chit!? I got stuck roaming on Verizon the other day and it was the first time I had seen that, had no clue what was going on. I actually had to reboot my phone to get it to let go of it, airplane mode toggle didn't even work.

Thanks for the info though because I was way confused. [emoji106]

  13. The second paragraph, all I see is "Touch Draw Test" No "Touch Test"... Unless I'm in the wrong menu.

Sorry, yeah, Touch Draw Test - Auto at the bottom of that screen that you saw the Touch Draw Test on.
  14. I can't get my KnockOn to work. KnockOff works fine.. I have tried calibrating the sensor. Yes, it is enabled. I tried the hidden menu tests, but can't complete it since Sprint locked down most of the menu. Any other ideas for me?

Tot back to ZV8, update touch firmware via hidden menu and then OTA back up to ZVD. If you are rooted, you could also try to flash the AT&T hidden menu found on XDA in the VZN hidden menu thread OR my teams thread for SuperG2. It will give you access to update touch firmware and may work but it's not 100%.

Oh, I should note, if your screen is actually damage none of this will probably work. You can definitely run the Touch Test - Auto with the Hidden Menu we got in ZVC/ZVD so maybe try that first.

  15. I think I will send my G2 out for repair soon. My GPS is terrible and my CPU stutters and makes music have delays and make strange sounds.

I'm hearing some people are having to put paper next to the GPS antenna to fix it...I would rather get it actually fixed.

Take pictures of bezels with your phone info on the screen so if they mess it all up, you can send proof they damaged and maybe get new replacement or something.

  16. Forgive me for my ignorance..I put that into the dialer?? Then what? How do I get out once I'm in?? Thanks

There are Main Menu and Back options when you get in and for the sake of simplicity, do the Auto test. [emoji4]
  17. The screen doesn't respond to touch toward the top of the screen on the right side..the general area is around where the update/install button would be in the app store...also she can't pull down the notification bar at the top..she is having to turn the phone sideways to do these things..

Well, you could run a quick test and see if it's just a defective screen. 5689#*980# then Device test, Individual Item, Touch Draw Test - Auto. If it fails there, it's definitely hardware.
  18. Yeah it didn't work..so you send it to LG and that takes a couple weeks?? Does it cost anything?? I think we have a couple phones she could switch to around the house if need be..we don't have the insurance on the phones..never have had it before..

What *sensor* is having issues and do you have the means to tot the device? It's easier, faster and free and might be worth a shot before shipping the phone off.
