Double post...

Well, now that my teams ZVC rom is out I decided to tot and move on to ZVD and I did experience the same "stuck on 3G" issue. I checked the settings and sure enough, it *looked* like 3 but was clearly not right. Changing it to 3 and saving/rebooting made a world of difference.OK

Here is the version I'm on
Here is my LTE engineering screen
P.s. I disabled LTE because I'm connected to my airave
Ok, see the last 5 pages of the thread for "possible" fix. No guarantees that it will 100% work but seems like it is working.

No I stay on 3g to long I have to keep switching to airplane mode to stay on LTE
a ) What software version are you on?
b ) Did you read any of the most recent pages of this thread?
c ) You can't effect 3G to LTE with band priorities

After doing some googling, there is no longer a paid Tapatalk app for Android. They moved to a single app system. You can no longer upgrade to Pro status. If you were already a Pro user, you get to keep that status which is connected to your Tapatalk login. Beyond that, everybody gets the free version with ads.

If we were paid Pro users I think it shows as Tapatalk "VIP" on the main screen.

Cross your fingers but I think this might actually solve the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/general/fix-lte-issues-zvd-t2839374
This is different than adjusting the LTE scan timer. And when i went to set it 3 was actually the prepopulated value and not the 3000 shown as the current value. I would be curious to know the value of the bsr timer prior to the ZVD update. I saw a screen capture of another phones data engineering screen and it showed 3 for the bsr timer.
I will be doing driving around today so I will see how it behaves switching from 3G to LTE.
Checked my wife's G2 that is on ZVC and it's set to 3.

The specs of that phone read like it's a G3 that's been "Samsungized"...ram sucks, camera sucks, internal storage sucks, etc. I'm not sure I'd go batsh*t crazy trying to get this G3 like I did my gold G3 on the 11th when they released the phone back in July.
Yeah, it'll be on the cheap side for people that can't/won't want to drop coin like techy geeks (embrace it, you are in good company) like us. So instead of getting some cheap pos Sprint branded device, they'll get something nicer.

New G3 owner, noticed this reported in a few other forums and having the same problem - looking to see if it's a pretty common issue or just the usual vocal minority speaking up.
The compass is bad. Very bad. In Google Maps, I can sit in my office and slowly spin around, and the direction I'm "facing" is either 90 or 180 degrees off the entire time. Downloading a Compass app shows the same thing. I tried a two calibration methods (figure 8 and the three spins methods) and it doesn't seem to get any better.
Does it do it when you are moving, like walking, riding, driving? If not, I'd say it's not an issue at all but maybe I'm just less critical of the compass features of my devices.

So then is there really an issue when people are saying that they are getting stuck on 3G and it not switching back over to LTE?
I'll leave that to someone that is on ZVD to answer. I just did that experiment to see about baseband. I'm on ZVC as we released our finished rom tonight. I'll probably move to ZVD later this week.

I tot'd back to ZVC and took OTA and before even rooting I had the ZVC baseband or the ZVD baseband with the same number as ZVC. If you're going all in, might want to try ZV8. lol
So, as to not quote myself.. Lol
I ran the ZV7 tot and can confirm there was no baseband change from ZV7 to ZV8, it changed from ZV8 to ZVA as well as from ZVA to ZVC but did not from ZVC to ZVD.

Got busy last night but I'm gonna go to ZV7 and see what happens today.I tot'd back to ZVC and took OTA and before even rooting I had the ZVC baseband or the ZVD baseband with the same number as ZVC. If you're going all in, might want to try ZV8. lol

I got the Sprint Zone update already. Attached is what I see. Screenshot_2014-08-03-20-45-32.png

Someone should hard reset and see if that to changes... Actually, let me tot and update and I'll post later how it goes.

There is an update for Sprint Zone, the app. What's even more curious is that the Sprint Zone app is telling me that I need to "Update Now" even though it shows the current ZVD build number. Wonder if that has to do with the incorrect baseband.

It works with the zvd radio or do you need to downgrade? I assume autorec still restores download mode correctly just like it did with ZVC? Had to get a replacement device and took the zvd ota but thinking of rooting again.
Autorec will install recovery again like on ZVC but you'll end up with the ZVC modified kernel which will break Knock Code. I do believe there is a custom kernel that will restore it but I can't say for sure.
Just rooting ZVD is fine but it's the recovery and restoration of the laf partition that is needed that will break one of the main features of the update.

Accurate review from my own ownership experience. I'm underwhelmed by the g3 after 3 weeks of ownership

"LG's poor track record and lack of commitment with upgrades also concern me"
I'd approach with caution folks.... G2 got 4 updates in something like 9 months and I'm sure we're not done yet. [emoji3]

Still waiting to get the update.. When I get it I'll let you know...
Sideloading the update is ridiculously easy. Do you have a PC?

FYI
The recent update (ZVD) to the G2 was primarily Knock Code with some fixes and add ons which one of those was " ART " in the Select Run under Developer Option.
YEA!
The change was minor enough that the ZVC kernel actually works, just no Knock Code. Knock Code and ART make it a very nice bump and I think we can expect Wifi calling at some point, probably with 4.4.3 but it's no deal breaker.

Nope, you won't need to do anything special. Why are you hard resetting?
