  1. I've dropped mine several times (hard enough for the case to come off most of them), and I've had no GPS issues with my G2 personally.

This is why I'm more inclined to believe the issue is hardware and related to the contact point with the antenna rather than an issue with software, etc.

If it was the software, then most/all of the phones would have the issue. There were reports of GPS issues before KitKat and reports after KitKat. My phone overall is more stable all around after the KitKat update personally.

Looking back through my Cerberus logs I don't see any erroneous data points before or after the update, going back to October either. There's a few points slightly off of where I was likely to be at then, but they are all within about 100m of my actual location (meaning I didn't have a GPS lock at the time and it was triangulated instead). Since I don't have my GPS locked on all of the time that's not unusual. Every time I've tried to use a GPS app it works fine.

  2. Never seen one at a -78. There are a few towers here that I had as low as -61

Gotta love having tower close to home.... that will TDD-LTE in the coming months. [emoji2]

I've been doing a little experiment this billing cycle where I don't use any wifi on my phone, anywhere, and I haven't skipped a beat. Sprint is definitely THE carrier of choice.

  3. Take for instance Mahdi and all of the Cloudy ROMs. They were built around the Verizon version G2, the VS980. They've been ported to LS980 but when you flash them, there are operational problems the biggest being no cellular data. When you go into the settings menu, the network options are grayed out and if you were to go down to about phone and status you get a FC. There are patches and fixes suggested but they don't work. If you can live off WiFi then those ROMs are great.

Like I said, the only custom kk ROM that has worked for me at all was Liquid. The only problem with that ROM was having a stable kk kernel. That has been the one ROM I've considered a benchmark for kk.

Liquid was released as beta many weeks before ZVC was released. I had an expectation that ZVC would function somewhere between the Liquid kk beta and ZVA. I've read of problems for some, more battery drain, battery performance only better, the loss of IOT and my impression was ZVC was only slightly better than ZVA. I swore against taking the flash until I needed to be at stock kk to flash Cloudy so I took the plunge. My suspicions were right, only slightly better performance and slightly better battery life.

After having the taste of what Liquid did for kk, knowing kk's potential I'm left to say Sprint did the community a huge disservice with ZVC. Granted ZVC fixed some bugs definitely with Bluetooth A2DP function, it worked better in my car too. It still wasn't perfect. Audio playback was still accelerated enough that the upper frequencies in music sounded distorted like a blown speaker.

I'm the only person to experience this?

So all of those are not based on the actual Sprint ZVC release so I'm not sure you can/should use them as a measure. We just released the stock odex rom last night and we're working to release something more custom soon. I can tell you that the actual ZVC meant for the phone has been really solid for me.

Also, how did Sprint do anyone a disservice? I still am missing the part where the ports are better. Maybe try running the software meant for phone and see how it is. Also, for sure, when we drop SuperG2, try it out and see how it is. You may have same impression but least it's based on using the real software for our devices.

  4. The stock Rom is great already. The modded kk roms all show to be even more great, super speedy, more responsive and dramatic increase on battery life. I was getting more than 30 hours per charge. Once they get the kernel bugs worked out, things will get awesome. Never thought that such a great phone could be improved upon.

What Sprint has done with ZVC Though is ruined it. Maybe it was on purpose to drive sales of newer handsets. Maybe it was a byproduct of their engineering. Either way it was a disappointing move after seeing what the developers have done.

Just curious, what are your issues with ZVC? So far, ZVC fixed all of my issues from ZV8/ZVA. The Bluetooth has horrible sound quality in my Civic and when ZVC came around, it fixed the issue. Not to mention Viper4Android is amazing in my car!

I'm kind of wondering what you are referring too as well. Trying to figure out what *Sprint has done to it as I haven't had any issues with Sprint ZVC for over a month.

You mentioned in a previous post that none of the Kk roms were fully functional and had issues AND they are all ports. So just a tad bit confused with what you are saying. [emoji3]

  5. For the peeps that have not taken the ZVC update and disabled the notification from GoogleServiceFramework, have you gotten another update notification that won't clear? Like recently?

Additionally, anyone using a custom PRL, have you noticed that you got a profile refresh over the past 24 hours and now running stock PRL such as 51100? Also with the refresh have you noticed that your LTE band preferences have changed back to default?

Interesting you ask this.... I'm on a ZVC build and got the update 2 nights ago, it was weird! I have actually never seen anything like it though. It did some update, then a PRL update and then it was done. I have no clue what was updated though, I am still on PRL 51100 and no other visible updates.

What are you Band Preferences now? I'll look at mine and confirm.  I stopped changing them since I had to tot so many times getting the ZVC stuff figured out so I know mine are the way Sprint/LG wants them to be so curious as to what yours are "now" and what you had them at "before".

    LG G3

Linked worked ok here and I like what I found when I followed it. :)

It looks very very nice. Should not only be a solid performer and hopefully gets more people to the LG fold.  I just hope they fully embrace the dev community and get the unlocking process officialized. That would be absolutely amazing and go even further to create advocates for the brand.

    LG G3

Worldwide announcement for the G3 starts up 2 weeks from today.

Who will be picking up one of these bad boys? I know I will be.

    Mav. :ninja:

Not me... It looks nice and all but with G2 in hand, it's not enough of an upgrade. Now if I didn't have G2, I'd get G3 for sure.

I'm hoping they do away with the silly hboot/loki bs and offer an unlock option like we have with HTC. That would be a great step to opening the gates to the dev community.

My next device prerequisite is SD810 and I usually don't keep a device for more than 12m. The G2 is changing that for me. [emoji2]

  6. The best thing is to try it out yourself. You can have 5 of the same devices and all 5 could vibrate differently.

    Back on topic.....[emoji6][emoji6]

  7. I share your issue in Denver area.  Don't get me started!

Does anyone know of any progress on fixes or ROM's that allow IOT hidden menu/LTE Only on KK ?

Not that I know of... also, the IOT menu app can be used from ZVA and the additional options we saw on ZVA are not available. (*I tried this very first thing) I think it's going to be a real challenge to get that back but maybe once the base is rolled out a Dev that is in hiding may take a shot at getting it going.

  8. I know it is my issue. Missouri market is still turning up sites and now with B26 firing up I need lte only if I want a chance at streaming due to ecsfb.

I do believe the "issue" he is referring to is the ZVA software (I don't think he meant your wanting to keep LTE Only and the market condition :D), possibly. I know I haven't seen Services issues since ZVA and I have been on ZVC for a month (or however long ago it dropped) and have never seen the issues we had on ZVA.

  9. Any word on when the team d3rp zvc base band version will be released?

We're working on both stock bases and our rom. Hopefully very soon, we have a hang up that is prohibiting from releasing even the stock bases because we don't setting for less that premo $hit.  :)

I can tell you that we have the process for going from ZVA to ZVC (without using tot) all buttoned up so it will be easy to get to Kk once it's ready for you all.

    Stay tuned....  :tu:

  10. Who's running G2 custom ROMs and problem free? I was going to try out Paranoid Android but it has an audio echo bug for the LS980. I really wanted to try any of the Cloudy ROMs but flashing the KK baseband plus the ROM gets me only to flashboot. Liquid Smooth has been the most functional and best I've experienced except for exponential reboot problems (start at 1 every 2 days, then progressively more frequently).

I won't use Sprint's stock KK just because of the IOT menu.

If you are on ZVA then run d3rpG2, we have 2 variants. We should have base and instructions for folks to upgrade to ZVC stock rooted (odex and deodex) as well a d3rp version soonish.

  11. I don't know how to force lte only mode, every time someone mentions it, no instructions are given on how to toggle that.

Also, I think we need to clarify some things.  1. Is EVERYONE with spark phones having the same issues?  That can't be right as there would be more noise made in the press.

    2. This is not an issue of intermittent coverage for people like me, it's an issue of the phone turning into a complete brick, no lte, no 3g EVEN WHEN cdma ONLY mode is turned on, no calls (called support and lasted about 10s before it disconnected).

    3. Is the nexus 5 having these issues?  the htc one max?  Just the m8?  the m8 and the s5?

If just the last two the common theme seems to be the QUALCOMM 801 SoC, is there a defect with those radios where they spontaneously shut down and stop working?  Is it REALLY just a tower thing where spontaneously all service stops working?

    4. NOT JUST lte, 3g too, people keep saying switch it to 3g mode as if that restores service, that is NOT a solution, that is not what is happening, ALL SERVICE is stopped, no calls, no 3g, no lte, nothing.  That could be a tower issue with just these phones, but no one seems to know for sure.

Who here is in the Los Angeles CA area with an m8?  is your service still fine?  mine was GREAT until yesterday, so its either a REGION WIDE tower setting issue, or a phone issue.

    1. Yes, everyone with a tri-band device *has the potential to have the issue presented by towers with no eCSFB functionality.  No, not everyone has the issues because depending on how the market was rolled out, towers may or may not have been built out with this in mind.  My market had maybe 12 towers that were 4G Only excepted at first. Then the release of the tri-band devices and the shear NEED to change how towers were brought online to handle them changed... that change meant that all the remaining towers would FIRST be, at min, NV 3G accepted before they could/would be 4G accepted and the eCSFB software would be pushed to them then both single and tri-band devices can use 3G/4G services from the tower.

    2. That sounds very odd but do you have another activated Sprint device that you can actively compare with?  You could use the Signal Check app to tell what tower you are on, you can then see if when your M8 drops if the other device is a) on the same tower and B) drops as well.  That will tell you if it's the tower or the device, very easy test.

    3. See answer #1 mixed with #2

    4. Do test from answer #2 and if M8 fails (the other phone stays connected to the tower and the M8 turns into brick), hard reset the device and try to do the test again.  If it fails again, my money is on faulty device.

The thing with the tri-band devices are that not only is the device a variable, but the network (and hardware) AS WELL AS handling of the tri-band traffic are also new.  Something of a perfect storm of $hit to wade through for that perfect solution.  My G2 and the M8 I used for a few weeks had no issues but my market is "sitting pretty" to say the least. :)

*Get on Sprint Live chat and add TEP to your line now, in anticipation of having to go to the Sprint store to get swapped out so you don't get hassled. You can take it off next or the month after if you like but. :)

  12. I meant for the 1x800 threshold part. I was in a hurry back from lunch so i might of hit the wrong quote ha

Oh, yeah, now that I read his post again, it was a little mix and mashed and maybe on accident.  He said 1x800 but I think "maybe" he was just talking about 800 in general since he was talking about LTE at his desk and streaming all day.

Just so it's clear for him (*I know you understand) 1x800 could be change by using one of the custom PRL's floating around here and LTE on 800 (band 26) its going to be a bit of a challenge to do what you want and not mess anything else up.

  13. I don't know of anyone with an N5. I like the g2 and I would have got the nexus of it wasn't for knock on and the ir blaster. Is there any way to change the threshold of when it connects to 1x 800? I think if that was fixed id be OK with it for awhile. I bet the nexus would work at my desk because I get a faint LTE right outside my door. I just want to stream all access all day long! I've been waiting for 800 LTE for 2 years and dang, what a disappointment. Also I've had this thing plugged into a 1amp charger pretty much all day since 6 and it only went from 10% to 80% now. Charger problem?

Well, the network decides where you end up at so unless you find someone with N5 to sit at your desk with that phone and see if it doesn't switch to b26, it's hard to say.  Nothing is "broken" so not really anything to "fix". :) You could possibly try to change the band priorities but I don't know if that is going to get you what you want AND could make the general performance of the RF worse.

As for charger, you said "a 1amp" charger.  I have found that the best charger is the OEM charger and the worst are knock off chargers.  8hrs to charge that much is definitely not right, something is wrong.  Where you doing stuff on the phone? Screen on? Streaming or something?

  14. It's not about minute usage, it's about coverage enhancement. You could be at a location where wifi is available and Sprint's cell signal is very weak.  Like inside my house. Sprint service is spotty to non-existent depending on which room I'm standing in. But my wifi signal covers my entire house.

It would be like your very own Airave that is always with you. :)

  15. Just bought my wife a new HTC One M8 and she is not getting a usable network signal where her old GSIII worked great.  She was able to get 4g on her GSIII, but now no signal with her M8.

    Could it be the phone?

If you are saying she is getting "no" LTE now in the same place as the S3 then it's probably eCSFB issues on the tower you are connecting to.  The tri-band devices use 1 signal path for call and data so the eCSFB (call switch fall back) has to be working on the tower OR the tri-band device won't connect to LTE at all on it. I don't know if your market has spreadsheets or maps BUT if so, look and see if that tower you are on is a 4G LTE accepted OR 3G/4G LTE accepted.  If it's 4G only, that tower cannot have eCSFB working on it and she'll not be able to use LTE from it until it's both 3G accepted AND the eCSFB software is deployed to it.

  16. It's a screenshot of my B26 stuff I was going to post on the 800 forum and the Greenville area forum all day it's too big. But I've not had that issue with the G2, the screenshot is the resolution of the screen. I do click add as attachment not image, what's the difference?

  17. Still can't figure out when I try to upload a pic on tapatalk it keeps saying "upload_too_big". On another note I've gotten B26 again and ran a speed test at got 12.6 down and 4.8 up on a -112 signal.

  18. Whenever my phone is on 3g it displays blank info for the voice and data signals in the status bar. LTE shows just fine but 3g does not.

    Anyone else having this issue?

I'm on an M8 but I believe it did this on my G2 and N5 as well.

Turn on Location Services. I think you can get away with the *Battety Saving mode. I switched back to my G2 from M8 so I can't say 100% but I know location services is needed.
