  1. Well, 1) I don't plan to keep this car long enough to spend money on a new head unit, which would be even more expensive because of: 2) the factory radio has everything except hdradio/backupcam and is integrated into the car dash display between the speedo/tach, for navigation/phone etc. I would have to get a top end head unit along with the extra accessories to integrate and keep the same features. 3) I suppose I could get an external add on tuner, but it would be unsightly and non-integrated (see #2) and there is no external input anyway. 4) If I'm not listening to xm, I'm usually streaming google music unlimited over bluetooth. so, basically I screwed myself by assuming a newer more expensive car would have the same or better features as my older kia.
  2. I loved HDRadio when I had my Kia, it sounded much better than the regular FM station, and several of the extra channels in my area played better music with less or no commercials, so it was all win. I thought the HD sounded even slightly better than xm with the same car/radio/speakers, and it still worked while going under bridges/garages. That said, I agree with others that the signal range is less than the regular FM so it's possible depending on the station and your location to be in an area where the HD switches on/off, annoyingly. I was pissed to learn too late that my current car, while better in most ways, lacked HD radio (and backup camera, ugh). I test drove with the radio off and just assumed falsely that all new cars with xm included HD radio. IMO, if you spend a lot of time in the car and like good audio, you will want to make sure that any new car you buy has HD Radio. I know that any future cars I buy, it will be a mandatory feature for me.
  3. thanks for the review. I had been thinking hard about getting one of these to replace my nexus 7/2013/wifi/32gig, however with only 8 gig storage that is like so 5 years ago. Even my mother using my original 8 gig nexus 7 2012 constantly runs out of space with her various slot machine apps. 8 gig (i'm assuming its more like 5 gig usable), would be like 2 games, some music and books and done. I'm no longer really interested in external sd card storage, I have had too many memory cards fail after time and cause all kinds of problems.
  4. Aside from known trouble areas, any more if I see a drop to 3g, then I primarily assume that a new tower is being upgraded and ECSFB issues are re-occurring and forcing neighboring areas down to 3g. yes, its annoying, even more so when you would normally have consistent lte.
  5. android police with a pretty decent scoop http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/04/13/rumor-googles-carrier-project-detailed-in-leaked-app-pay-per-gb-unused-data-refunds-in-app-service-activation-and-more/
  6. active bands and band scanning priority can be updated via profile update, however I would expect that due to current issues with enabling b12, that a firmware/radio update will have to be OTA'd before they enable it on the n6. other devices may not have the same problem with b12 and just need a profile update.
  7. from the faq page linked earlier; Does Wi-Fi Calling Support Messaging (SMS & MMS)? For Android devices, messaging is supported in Wi-Fi Calling mode even if there is not any coverage from the Nationwide Sprint Network. For iOS devices, messaging is still handled by the Nationwide Sprint Network. If you do not have coverage then messaging services are not supported. This functionality is expected to be supported over Wi-Fi in the future. iMessage on iOS is supported over Wi-Fi.
  8. I would suspect a poor quality (or partially broken/worn) cable and/or charger. My understanding is that the device must negotiate to get higher charge rates than the usb default, so assuming its not a device issue, something is preventing/delaying the ability for the device to say 'hey charge me faster'. btw, what app are you using that shows the charge current on the n5?
  9. 8.3 is out, who is going to update and confirm if cellularinfo still works or not?
  10. Cars bend too, so do semi-trailers, bridges, skyscrapers and airplanes!
  11. If you have some app constantly or even very often accessing the internet, it can prevent the phone from rescanning for lte. I haven't noticed any difference in lte/3g switching time, although in my area I have lte almost all of the time nowadays.
  12. I agree, we need less plans not more that are just rearranging numbers for no additional value.
  13. the top one seems to have more/clearer detail in the trees and bird feeder. also, look at the house, you can see some detail and shadows on the top photo, its all a whited out mess on the lower one. HDR basically prevents the extreme brights to not overpower the darks. HDR does not really do much to improve low light per se.
  14. regarding multiple stores within short distances of each other; it may very well be that a previous well performing and/or better location radioshack store being kept open near a legacy sprint store, where they plan to re-consolidate the sprint store into the RS location at a later point in time (ie when leases up etc).
  15. One of the reasons I will never do an in-store trade in again.
  16. I can't, I'm still on nexus 5 and that option is not there. Looks like that screen/option is only for nexus 6 (and I assume nexus 9), part of the new security/lost phone functionality I guess.
  17. I thought i read (in this thread?) the unlocks are tied to your apple account?
  18. By the time the future gets here, we'll all be wearing space suits anyway. So bring on the long distance LTE!
  19. Awesome, that means there is no spectrum crunch, we can fire up towers in LA to service New York and vice versa!
  20. A friend of mine bought one today, and he won't shut up about how great it is. he had a note 2 previously. So that's one random opinion.
