  1. I got wife, 4 kids, mom-in-law, dad-in-law, sis-in-law, niece(in law), nephew(in law) all here , under one roof. I used to have lots more time than I do now to learn about extra stuff...But with 11 people here....life is hectic.

About my phone...never would boot into it to begin with. Every time I tried, it would just reboot, and I would release volume down+ power soon as I saw the LG logo screen...Still booted to regular start-up.

  2. I tried everything to get power+ vol down to boot me into recovery so I could sideload it...Just wouldn't go. I downloaded the modem alone and the full update, planned on doing the full update though. Just doesn't want to cooperate with me.

Does it matter if you download + adb sideload the modem alone, or the entire update...anything beneficial in the update (since the modem is what, 25mb and the update is 110mb?)

They have a Sprint section for about two weeks now

I meant, subsections like other devices...I think everything is kinda thrown in the General section at this point from what I could see. The day the update was first announced here, I hit XDA several times and the newest threads had no mention of it at all.

  4. I haven't looked around much, xda is kinda confusing on the Sprint section for G2 --if I'm not mistaken they don't have a Sprint section for it there...But last time I was there I didn't see where anyone had posted the zv8 update. Maybe they'll organize it a little better as dev for Sprint variant of G2 ramps up.

  5. I, for some reason thought that being in a strong voice roaming area would have a lower threshold before dumping an unusable native data connection. I guess hanging on to unusable data they own is better business than switching to roaming data they have to pay extra for. I know you've done some extensive PRL work, do you think this will change as 800LTE becomes more prevalent?

  6. Things have been quiet in my immediate area lately...tho Birmingham is sure becoming pretty well covered from what my travels around show. I'm guessing a mix of GMO and backhaul vendors dragging their feet is causing Sylacauga/Childersburg/surrounding to fall to the wayside. I'm betting AT&T owns most of the fiber loops around here, with charter probably being thrown in somewhere below AT&T. Hope something pops up soon around here so I can play with a new band or two.

  7. I personally never seen anything related to it until now, never been involved in a thread where it was mentioned until now, and really can't put anymore time than I already do into trying to read and get caught up on things. If I had seen or known of it then I would not have asked.

  8. Yes, it is possible. We have talked about this numerous times previously in numerous threads. Where have you been?

By the way, your eHRPD signal strength is unusable, but that should come as no surprise.

    AJ

Sorry, AJ, when my brother passed away back in October, I lost touch of everything when it comes to the new phones, the tri-band setup, and the carrier fallback stuff. I've been trying to play catchup going on 2 weeks now.

  9. You guys and your flashing moods. Make sure you use a good mood, flash a bad mood and your phone will PMS every month.

  10. The best analogy I can use in this scenario is this...imagine you got a Intel core i3 processor. Intel can't send you a driver to update that processor to a core i7. Why? Because the hardware just isn't there. Same goes for making a phone tri-band that isn't...The hardware isn't inside phone.

  11. The HTC one isn't tri-band as it was released back in, what, March or so? No radios to pick up the band 26 and 41 LTE. Only band 25/1900 LTE.

On another note, anyone know if the HTC One is capable of qi charging?

  12. Anyone tried to use the tool on LG's website to update their phone? I got the app downloaded from LG and it says I need the drivers installed through the app but our model isn't listed. Anyone else tried this or have you all just waited for it to show up on your phone?

I tried installing the LG mobile update tool the other day, way before this update came out. No luck with it. The closest thing to LS980 they have is the LS970. Usually takes a few weeks before they update the tool, I'm sure the usb driver is already in LG's support personnel hands.

  13. You are probably hitting a site that has its time zone set wrong. Happened to me for awhile, there was one area that would consistently flip my phone to a time zone somewhere in Russia.. only thing you can do is disable the option to set your time zone through the network.

    -Mike

Also, being near a division in the time zones can cause this...I live near the Georgia line (not so near that this is a problem)...but sometimes if you hit on a tower that's across the state line in Georgia (which is +1hr from Alabama)...it will make the time jump.

    Granted, it won't be a +6hr jump...but I've seen mine go +1 / -1 now and then.

  15. I hate these carrier fights that cause me to lose channels. Just recently, dish took down our NBC local for nearly two months, and ran their propaganda about the network being the reason....Charlie seems worse than dick(direct) ever was, the amc outage on dish made headlines. And hitting home most recently, they completely took down g4, now I am strictly limited to online resources for gaming shows.

Actually I'm thinking when my current sub is up, I'll cut the cord and do Roku and ps4 streaming only. Roku had me in a beta with their newest box, which the beta lasted a couple months but they really took effort in supporting their boxes.

  16. I noticed the speakerphone was quite low from the first day. My Sammy gs3 was plenty loud and then had extra oomph on the call screen to add some volume to it if you so desired. I hate to have to download an app to boost it. . .But I also haven't got this update yet either. Maybe they are doing it in a location-based rollout, or only certain MSC's at a time.

  17. I would think if it was "Spark" related, we would see the baseband change, as that's the modem ...just a software update so only thing different from my "About" is the software version...from ZV7 to ZV8.

Wouldn't the baseband version be different under a Spark updated version? As in, writing new firmware to the modem baseband to enable 26, 41 and the priorities they should be in...

I guess it could fall under software update and not touch the baseband...but that would probably mean reception won't change much (fringe LTE ..ceiling levels before dropping from LTE back to 3G, etc).

  18. That screenshot is showing the same as my current software version. Either I've already got it without hitting "OK", or it's not ZV7 and is ZV8, and isn't pushed yet...

  19. In other news....

Official sales statistics from Chart-Track have confirmed that the PlayStation 4 has become the fastest-selling console in U.K. history, a record previously held by PlayStation Portable (PSP).

The PSP had notched up 185,000 sales during a similar launch window and though Chart-Track does not reveal the exact amount of PS4s sold thus far, it states that it has surpassed launch sales of the PSP, Xbox One and PS3.

In the PS4 videogame charts, Killzone Shadow Fall was the most bought game at U.K. launch with EA’s FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 taking second and third spot.

Check out the reviews of the PS4 launch titles.

  20. Thanks. That was going to be my fallback option, but I really enjoy all of the custom settings on the g2. Are they similar in the n5? and hows your battery life? That was another spec that drew me to the g2. Still not sure which is the better phone- so similar. Just didn't like the 'feel' of the 5 in my hand, but like the minimalism and lack of bloat. n5 might be better in the longrun. Doesn't appear to be so 'buggy.' and while I don't mind tinkering with computing devices (been seeing the blue screen since win '95), I'm not sure I want to be dealing with the potential hassle with a device we all rely on day in and day out to be our life blood... plus, just because I don't see/haven't experienced the other issues others have, doesn't mean they won't potentially manifest down the road. :/

You think the stock customizations are nice, if you want to really change the look and feel, register at us.lgworld.com and download the LG World app...then try some of their official themes and font packs. May not be the same as rooting and customizing from the ground up, but it gives the UI a fresh makeover ...I did one of the Christmas themes just now and like the way it looks.
