  1. You could be experiencing the Circuit Switched Fallback Conundrum on the G2. The G2 is Triband LTE with single transmission path. The Moto X is SVLTE.

This is why I put the G2 on my line and let my wife have the gs3...It's more important to me for her to have a phone that works well, I personally can usually be reached on the house-Vonage line, so attaining signal at all costs isn't nearly as vital. She is set on having me get her the HTC one, even after I told her it's not tri-band. She told me "it's not tri-band is the reason I would want it because look at the issues you got with that G2" ....makes sense when a woman puts it in perspective. She saw her sister with the HTC I added for her the other day and has since played with that phone and really likes it, and what swung her is the battery+case combination that lets you switch to it when phone dies.

  2. I saw it mentioned about starting an accessory thread...or are we gonna keep it here?

At any rate, I got the otterbox with clip and built-in screen protector, has anyone cut their screen protector out because of the gap between the screen?

I really thought seeing eHRPD would only happen on native signal...confusing me as to why I would get eHRPD while roaming on LG G2, but not get eHRPD on gs3 while roaming, even with a premium member PRL on it.

  3. For the couple of folks wondering about the airave and G2, I kept doing data profile updates and PRL updates until it finally saw my airave. Granted the G2 doesn't always see the airave and I do still roam, not as much as with my gs3 towards the end of having it. My mother-in-law got the gs3 and it has no problem connecting to my airave, both voice and 3G. I'm lost on what the problem is.

Oh, not this again. You have been around long enough to know why your question above is wrong.

The problems I've had with my GS3 + Airave and never getting 3G on MY Gs3...but my mother-in-law has a GS3, and soon as I turn wifi off, 3G pops up on hers....using the same Airave...

The only time I'm seeing 3G is when I write a certain PRL to my (ex-GS3) ...far as the G2...SignalCheck said it was 1X signal, while the G2's showing it as 3G....that's why I asked.

Nothing about what's going on in my house has any rhyme or reason...one phone will get 3G no problem from the Airave...sit another 3G phone down and turn wifi off and you can't find 3G signal to save your life. I'm beginning to wonder if running my Airave through those powerline adapters that I beta tested for Netgear is putting some limitation on my throughput and won't allow but 1 or 2 devices to be on 3G at the same time...because I should be able to do 3 + 3 voice and data on that particular airave...

I can usually get 1 phone to hit on the 3G...but no more than that...

So with that in mind...and the issues I'm having ...I can't be sure without something to base it on..

Even at home, with my Airave...if I turn off Wifi on my LG G2, it picks up the Airave and shows a great signal...but moving the Powerline adapters off of the equation and running straight from router doesn't help matters..

  5. I'm wondering since my gs3 didn't show this, how can I have eherpderp while signal check says Verizon...and does it lie and you got 3G when it's really 1X?

  6. I'm not so sure that's a good strategy...

PS4 tops Xbone 5:1 according to this:

    http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/sony-has-captured-the-hearts-of-indie-retail/0124859

It really looks like Xbox isn't selling as many in places it has releases so far...

I saw people posting on PSU that live in both NYC and LA saying that MANY stores around them still had plenty of stock in XBone on the shelf after the launch event last week.

PS4 launches in UK this weekend...so that'll give a showing of which way they're going across the pond this time around. In 07, Sony held on in UK, while they lost here on US soil...but this time around it looks like it could be a win for Sony.

  7. Is the G2 having problems connecting to a airave?

    YES!!!

I can (show) 5 bars of voice...then make a call, and suddenly it dumps off of the Airave and onto 2 bars of VZW roaming for the call.

OR...it'll make the call on the Airave...(along with the popcorn sound in the earpiece), and the voice becomes so garbled from it trying to jump off of the Airave that I have to hang up and try again...

I'm not sure why it won't play nice with the Airave..I got 14 days though, right ...

If I can't get it to work, I'll go back and get my wife the HTC One...

    Digiblur:

The HTC wasn't for me and I didn't make any recommendations...my sister-in-law and wife both liked playing with that particular phone, and opted for it rather than the G2..

If it was me...I would've got the Nexus ..but I don't have to use it so I let them decide ...she got the one she wanted...and so far it's working pretty well...even with the Airave.

  8. I took the plunge and got mine last night. Also got an HTC one for my sis in law...she loves it. The G2 was for my wife originally, but once we got home and it wouldn't connect to airave, I swapped out to be mine until kinks get worked out.

  9. Well, 1 million sold in 24 hours in north America from Sony versus 1 million sold in 24 hours in thirteen countries...I like Sony odds better...but who knows. I dunno why Microsoft counts them as sold whether they are at a retailer or on someone's shelf at home. Or that's what I've read..I dunno how they count them...didn't check to see if that was true.

  10. Meth addicts costing some carrier a chunk of money...I wonder if they realize (or CARE) that they probably pulled up the backhaul and other vital lines to this cell tower??? It just doesn't say WHICH carrier...

Only in Alabama...I hope they catch them ALL..

  11. Free PSN games:

    Resogun and Contrast

Also, a demo yesterday (PSN Store update) for NBA Live 14...

And you can always get DCUO free to play...perks cost if you want them, but it's there for the downloading (albeit 20gigs of download)...

The update didn't do much yesterday in the PS4 games category...a couple here n there, but nothing major...like a demo of AC or KZ....I'd like a demo of the need for speed game.

I'm not big on racing, but The Crew is looking mighty fine, if you check the released in-game footage so far..but it doesnt hit until April 1.

For anyone who wants to play....

    PSN: jlmc1978

    And I do COD;Ghosts and BF4....

(and by "play"...I mean collectively, as a team...not run-n-gun to boost your stats)...I like playing with people that are tactical and use the mic for something besides broadcasting their phone conversation with their girlfriend about the dog getting hit by a car.

If you can guarantee me that I'm gonna hear your mom saying you need to get off the game and do homework, then I can guarantee you that we probably won't play well together.

  12. I bet he needs to assign manually the DNS and gateway...for some reason when I have customers that are on Charter, I have to do this for them when they need a router connected...DSL doesn't get so finicky..for some reason.

Usually I can do that, then put it back to Auto...and it'll work. But that first time, for some reason...

  13. I remember the Alabama April 27, 2011 outbreak...we're always under the gun when these storms hit, because (usually) they travel from westward---->eastward and meet the gulf moisture coming up from Alabamas coast..and they strengthen like crazy near T-town (tuscaloosa) ...I'm almost due east of Tuscaloosa, bout 100 miles.

To have lived where I do for the past 32 years, and the worst damage we've had on the property is a cedar tree that was 20ft away from the house sorta leaned over onto the roof..it did a little damage to the corner and that was it -- I feel very lucky.

I think being near a large body of water (Coosa River) helps out, plus I'm only a couple of miles from Lay Lake, which is river-fed and dam controlled.

I feel for anyone who's dealing with devastation this morning after the horrific events of yesterday, wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I always try to help via volunteering with Southern Company through my wife's work when this happens in our state, they actually put people on the ground in the communities to help with the clean-up effort.

  14. I was using DDWRT as a repeater of my main router because of fringe areas in my house..until I figured out how to use that ubiquiti device and point it towards a wifi signal, then plug a router into it, and set-up another network ...the ping time between DD-WRT as repeater, and Ubiquiti shooting a network are major differences...

I was seeing some 100ms+ ping times with DD-WRT...and now it's down to 25-30ms. And speeds are excellent.

I have 2 individual DSL lines, so I run two separate networks, each with 2-3 routers...partly because I have a lot of people living here right now (helping out family that got in a bind)..and partly because i have so many things that draw on AT&T''s crappy DSL connection that they offer.

I'm just lucky, I guess that they offer it..but geez...6mbps down, .5mbps up...barely worth the price I pay, esp for 2 lines of it..but gotta have it.

  15. I had to post that in a hurry, but here's my story:

Left Wal-Mart at 2:30 pm today after talking to dept manager of electronics...They told me to come sit in line for 4 or 5 hours...I wasn't looking forward to that...But figured whatever it took. So I got home, and decided to call Gamestop around 3:00 pm...They said if I got there in time, I could wait in line until 6 pm..and they would ring me up for the console. Then I could return at midnight and pick up the console. I thought that sounded much better, so I asked if I got there to stand in line until 6 and there wasn't enough, would they let me know. They said yes...So I left at 3:50 and stood in line until 6, and purchased my ps4. I was actually number 5 out of 7 they had extra on top of pre-orders. Total was around 35 systems. Lucky me!

  16. I already read it, I wasn't asking for this information for myself...I saw the article and read about carrier fallback and enhanced carrier fallback. But these issues will be seen no matter what new tri device people buy...so they might find it easier to have a brief summary in the first post or something. JS.

  17. Can we sum up a bulletpoint style list of things someone should know when they consider getting the G2...maybe not listing problems, but the possible scenarios one might encounter...so someone who's considering it can get an idea of what they would be in for once they get home...I think that would be a great help. Seems like some people are seeing issues, and some aren't...but without reading all 68 pages of posts to find out, generally it looks like 2600 might be a culprit? I still get confused on which is 41 and which is 25..

    41 is 2600/clwr, 25 is current 1900 and 26 is 800? is that correct?

  18. Note 3 is single band LTE, I'd avoid and get an N5/G2

You're in Alabama too, aren't you?

    I'm thinking that will be the bell-ringer for me...Note 3 isn't tri-band...

Even though it may be a while before Tri-band hits bama, I'd rather be future-proof in a way.

I bought the GS3 when it first came out...and I have a problem now with the phone and I'm looking to upgrade so I don't have any down-time...

That Nexus looks nice too...my wife may get the G2 and I might wind up with the Nexus..
