  1. I'm considering dropping the insurance on my phones...I have 2 Gs3s...1 Galaxy victory LTE, 1 iPhone 4S. None of those, in my book are phones that warrant a $200 deductible. I just saw a GS3 on a local Fbook sale/trade/swap page last week for $150, Sprint carrier.

so if I can buy one for $150, versus paying $200 for the deductible..then I'm not saving much money by keeping that $11 per line, per month fee. comes out to...4 phones x $11...

Only problem I've had with Sprint was that I blocked EVERYTHING on my daughters phone that required a purchase. The iTunes stuff had a password..the app store or whatever, plus in-app purchases were blocked. Then, on Sprint.com, I blocked her from being able to buy things that way too...YET, I glanced over my bill this month, because for the 2nd month it was $320.30...

So I thought, "ok...first month after adding a new phone...I knew it would be a little higher...but we're in the 2nd month now..it should've dropped back to $250-$260 range...."

I found where she was able to add 3 charges of $9.99 for some crap.. And it's a recurring monthly fee, not a one-time thing....so I had to call Sprint and complain. I put passwords for a reason...and she was STILL able to buy crap...what's the point of blocking purchases on Sprint.com if you can still get around it (turns out, she used some shortcode crap to subscribe to ringtones or whatever it was...THREE times..)

  2. I appreciate all the attention however, this went from me trying to gather ideas to give me a clue as to what I could do, to being a thread about complaints of insurance.

I am glad you have your own iOpinion on Apple, but here's the thing: I was sent from a Sprint store, an hour away, to the Apple store, which was another 30 minutes from that Sprint store. Why? Because Sprint wanted to give me another iPhone 4S, but had none in. No white ones, no black ones. So either I wait on order and drive back again...or I go to Apple store and get it fixed/replaced. I didn't just run in acting all innocent, I don't know for sure she got it wet, just what the end result was. And there weren't that many people in there today, letting Apple separate then from their money...so no, I wasn't rushed and expedited because there was a line around the building. How would my goose been cooked...I don't understand that. The carrier told me to come in because they couldn't help me, even though I pay for that insurance. I don't agree with the deductible considering the 4S is a last gen phone. (But it was a last gen phone on release day as well). So my day was spent fighting Birmingham traffic which is awful under normal conditions. Worse when they are ripping up the road and you have no clue about that till you get into construction zones.

  3. And to continue from earlier..apparently it wasn't water damage...because the indicators were gleaming white...as they should be.  The screen just went off and never came back on. Even the iGeniuses were at an iLoss as to what happened to it. Apparently it suffered an iFailure of displayoral proportions..but whatever the cause, she has a new one now, and her last lecture on taking care of it. If she didn't do anything and it just broke..well she needed a good lecture anyway. If she did something to cause it, and it happens again...I'll just pay the bill without having a working phone on that line until time is up, then turn it off.

  4. Just added a line last month for my 12 year-old daughter..and I'll be d%$@@ if my daughter didn't get her phone wet, or something, and now the screen on this 4S won't come on. Makes noises, apparently it's on...but no screen at all.

    Tried rice...nope.

Asurion website = $200 for the stupid deductible.

Going to be paying for a line without a phone attached to it now for a while....

Not sure they can even repair that...

  5. I have a question...since an airave is tied somehow with towers, is there a reason why my airave would be working properly, with beeps before calls, but only giving me 1x data? I have the newest 2.5 version, just noticed on both mine and wife's S3 that we are only 1X data. Should be 3G.

  6. I got a update in that News thing that is on my phone saying that Sprint LTE was coming around this time (5-17 or so)...

Are the sites directly around Montgomery...or do they stretch as far north as AL 21 near US 280 (Sylacauga, Alexander City, Rockford, Weogufka, etc)...

I haven't been around these sites down that way and I'm not sure if these would be GMO sites or not either..but I'm sure we'll see some signal from them when we head to Dauphin Island, AL on the 13th of this month...even if they aren't lit with LTE yet. Would be nice to have it though along the way.

I checked Dauphin Island coverage, and I'm unsure if I'm even going to have native 3G when we're there...looks like I may be roaming a lot of our trip down that way.  There's a small patch of green on the map, but not sure how far out that tower can get, since our rental house is on the west side of the island.

  7. There is no signing up. They put out word a while back and took, I'm guessing around 50 people, then said that they received all they wanted to fill...so it's actually too late now to try and get into it. Took two surveys for them and apparently answered in a manner that they were looking for, but they only tried for about two days to find people. I just happened to see their request a couple minutes after they asked about it and I answered. They came back and said something about a lot of response but they had filled the quota, apparently this is a new program with Belkin because they called it a first-time thing, I do believe.

  8. I use tinypic as well, many don't know that tinypic is part of photobucket. Also have a paid photobucket, used to on high traffic sites :-/ photobucket would freeze you if you went over a certain amount of bandwidth in a month (like having a signature hosted on photobucket)...if it was a very busy site, your signature could be disabled if you got over so much. I went paid because I ordered a photobucket book of pics when my daughter was born and sent it as gifts to my dad and family that lived too far to visit. They have an album that's $17 for 100 pics, with plastic cover and coated pages...around 4 pics per page. But tinypic has a desktop app as well as photobucket having a desktop app and mobile app.

  9. I wanted to ask if anyone else had tried to get into the Belkin insider program? It's a testing program for Belkin devices where they send you things to try...as payment for your time and trial, you get to keep the stuff they send. I got word I was accepted, but I can't say anything about what I receive unless it's on the market for sale already...which isn't likely to happen (why test already for sale items?)

I had to sign a stipulated NDA that is pretty binding on me not saying much about items not yet public.

  10. By then also, my Upgrade Now fee should be down below $200 i would think. I paid to Upgrade now last year on a line, got the GS3. It cost me $50 fee, $299 a month after the release. Now, it's $275 fee, and whatever the promo price is on the SGS4.
