  1. there is a ZV5 TOT on XDA forums, but i haven't seen one for ZV4 or ZV6.
  2. still evaluating battery life and heat, but as far as lag, locking up, and responsiveness go it is 99.9% better! i've just had the slightest bit of lag swiping between home screens every once in awhile, but thats been about it. no lockups so far, even tested scenarios that were guaranteed to lock up before and they all worked OK. and responsiveness is so much better, apps open when i tap on them the first time, especially after unlocking the screen. as far as heat so far its been better, still a little warm here and there but nothing like before. today was my first full day on battery. right now i'm at 21% left and have been on battery for 11h 46min, SOT of 2h 50min. google play services is the next highest battery usage at 18%, so i'm guessing it would be better if that hadn't eaten some battery.
  3. well that is a big fat NO to 5.1.1 fixing the double connection issue happened last night as i was leaving work and its currently showing 1x800 and LTE on my phone now
  4. i never requested from sprint that they unlock my phone, but twice now in the past month i've had a message pop up on my phone telling me it is now UICC unlocked....
  5. i don't know if i would call being faster than T-Mobile in des moines a win.... even though they scored higher than T-Mobile when you look at the speed data sprint had 4.46 down and 4.27 up while T-Mobile had 5.99 down and 1.49 up. I would assume that the low upload speed on T-Mobile is what lowered their score. Considering T-Mobile doesn't have actual LTE in des moines (still just HSPA+).....
  6. i just updated my flex 2 to 5.1.1. in the 10 minutes that its been updated so far it hasn't shown both 1x and LTE connections at the same time. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if that has fixed it or not.
  7. now updated to ZV6! i'll report back once i've had it a day or so and see if i notice any improvements
  8. OTA update.zip posted on XDA for those that don't want to wait http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/sprint-ls996-5-1-1-ota-update-zip-t3132917
  9. got to play with my brothers G4 this weekend, it is a very nice phone! wish i would have waited for it instead of jumping on the flex 2 anyway everything about it was smooth and fast. he was at 22% battery left so i checked the stats and he was just under 4 hours SOT. he said the battery was much better then the G3 he had before.
  10. ugh i hate you j/k i haven't gotten it yet were you having issues before? good to hear the lag is gone, that was killer.... hows the battery life and heat?
  11. i'm not asking this because of an obsession of wanting the fastest speed. i'm trying to understand from a technical standpoint what caused that drastic of a speed drop. and yes there are a lot of variables and i am making the assumption that in the 20 minutes it took me to get from the tower back to work the load on that sector didn't increase enough to cause a ~20 meg drop in speed. so that led me to the question of can a signal/SNR drop of those levels really cause that much of a speed drop.
  12. yes i understand that. what i'm trying to find out is was it signal/SNR that caused such a drastic speed drop or not? from what i have seen a 10 SNR and a -93 signal should still be considered a great signal. I would have though i would have still been able to pull ~15 meg down (a drop of 10 meg) at that level.
  13. thanks for the replies all. i guess i didn't realize that B13 having double the bandwidth would mean double the speeds at certain signal/SNR levels. what i mean by that is, lets say you are at -110 signal and 10 SNR and you are the only one on the sector. based on that signal and SNR the fastest speed you can get on B25 is 5 meg down. having those same signal/SNR conditions on B13 means you can get 10 meg down. so that explains the better speeds on B13 i saw. so bringing the focus back to the B25 scenario i had, is it really that normal to drop ~20 meg in speed with that kind of a drop in signal/SNR? its not like i went from a "perfect" signal down to -115 or worse, i was still at what many would consider a "good" signal.
  14. yep, starting to roll today! hopefully i get in on the front end instead of the back end..... http://support.sprint.com/support/article/Find-and-update-the-software-version-on-your-LG-G-Flex2/WServiceAdvisory_542_GKB83857?INTNAV=SU:DP:OV:UG:LgGFlex2:FindAndUpdateTheSoftwareVersionOnYourLgGFlex2#!/
  15. its an android bug, just look at your engineering screens when SCP is showing both connections. you will have info in the 1x screen and either missing or stale info in the LTE screen. SCP is doing what its supposed to, displaying what the engineering screens show. nothing to fix in SCP when android is giving it bad data.
  16. Here is my scenario that I did some testing with and i need some help explaining what i'm seeing. I have a tower that i connect to at work that i get OK speeds on. I was out checking for B41 installs just now and i went and checked this particular tower. While i was there i ran some speedtests on B25 from the same sector that i connect to at work. I was consistently getting 22 to 24 meg down on B25 while near the tower. My signal was anywhere from -77 to -83 and my SNR was 22+. when i got back to work i tested again outside in the parking lot (maybe 20 minutes later) and was consistently getting around 4 meg down. my signal there was around -93 to -95 and my SNR was around 10. can someone explain to me what is causing an almost 20 meg drop in speeds? (i know user activity could cause it but every time i get close to this tower i get really high speeds and when i'm at work they are significantly lower, so lets just assume that user activity was not the cause). I know i obviously had worse signal and SNR but they were THAT much worse. so what is causing such a drastic reduction in speeds? my first assumption would be the combination of lower signal and SNR but i wouldn't have thought it to have that much affect on speeds. i know its not apples to apples, but sitting inside my office at work on my verizon work phone i'm on Band 13 with a -108 signal and a 3.0 SNR and just got 6 meg down, so worse signal and SNR then my work B25 test yet higher speeds. I was hoping that B41 on this tower would help take pressure off B25/B26 but based on these results i don't think thats really going to help at all.
  17. depends on the phone, most of them do support SVLTE (simultaneous voice and LTE) but some of the newer ones stopped supporting it and won't again until VOLTE. there are just too many LTE bands to support to try and make SVLTE work, not enough room in the phone to fit all that in there and wouldn't be cost effective.
  18. just throwing this 2 cents in my brother isn't a tech/phone guy and he had the G3 on sprint, he upgraded to the G4 when he switched to verizon and he said the G4 is amazing and a lot better than the G3. screen battery life, camera, everything really he said is so much better.
  19. http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/heads-sprint-version-getting-5-1-june-t3126641 according to that the 5.1.1/ZV6 update is supposed to start rolling to our phones next monday. i seriously can't wait to see how this update performs. so far ALL of the posts of read from the European version of the phone that have received the update say all the lag and heat are gone and battery and everything is much better. i hope we have the same experience cause this phone sucks so bad right now
  20. same thing on my verizon galaxy S4, LTE discovery shows GCI/PCI/neighbor cells but SCP doesn't i tried the trick he mentioned and it didn't change anything for me.
  21. relpying to my part, no its not stale data, thats what makes is really weird. the 1x connection does update and does show the correct signal strength and BID and other info for the 1x connection based on where i'm at and what i should be connected to. the only thing thats off with the 1x connection is sometimes (i'm assuming when i'm connected to B26) it will show i'm connected to 1x800 from sites that do not have 1x800 (verified too). on the LTE side its a little different. the signal strength info is accurate but everything else either doesn't display properly or is stale. it never shows the GCI and sometimes will show the PCI and sometimes not but the PCI is always stale and usually the last PCI from the LTE i was connected to prior. i have verified that i am on LTE during this state based on speed tests. I have also tested if calling and data works at the same time, which it does not, obviously, just a curiosity thing because of the weird state. its almost 100% guaranteed when i lose LTE and i reconnect to LTE it will go into this state. during an airplane mode afterwards does nothing, you just have to wait until eventually it fixes itself, without me doing anything, and starts displaying properly. i did send a diagnostic report but its been several weeks now so if you need a new one let me know, its easy to get
  22. i get that on my flex 2 a lot too. i've also seen reports of HTC One M9's doing it. As far as i can tell its an android bug, not a signal check issue. When it does that if you check the engineering screens they are all messed up as well. i'm just waiting till my phone gets 5.1 to see if its fixed.
  23. Just got an email about trying out a trial of Sprint's new loyalty program called "Sprint Points" https://points.sprint.com/ looks like you download an app and then shop through participating online retailers and for every 1 point you earn you get $1 service credit on your account.
  24. and it looks like android 5.1.1 is rolling out to international flex 2's already http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/q-5-1-1-update-t3116107 hopefully we won't have to wait too long for it to get to us.
  25. looks like another update is on the way for this phone..... hopefully this one helps a ton :/ http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS996-SPRINT/latest
