  1. ok, yeah thats not the tower i was thinking you were connecting too. the one you just posted is right next to I-35 by lower beaver. and with a -110 signal and on B26 you aren't going to get great speeds very often. Since B26 travels further and penetrates better most people are on it which makes it overloaded. Plus your signal isn't helping things much. you can blame johnston for being the city of trees tree leaves are killer on signal the tower on the very north end of merle hay past where merle hay and 70th meet (its on the youth homes campus) is the one with B41, thats the one i get great speeds from on B41 and good speeds on the other bands, but again its still signal dependent. i did just do a speed test on B25 from the tower you were connected to in your screenshot on my way to work this morning and pulled 15 meg down, but i had a -90 signal and a ~15 SNR. so the better signal allowed better speeds. thats the not so great thing about LTE and data speeds. There are more things working against it than for it so it makes it harder to get good speeds. you have to be on a band/sector thats not overloaded, have a good signal, and a good signal to noise ration (SNR) to even think about getting a good speedtest. take where i work for example. in the parking lot i can run a speedtest on the tower i connect to here and get around 4 to 5 meg down with a -95 signal and around a 9 SNR. if i drive to the tower and get closer my signal goes up to around -84 and my SNR goes up to 22+ and i can get 25+ meg down. from what i've seen and the testing i've done i get the impression that optimization just needs to get done around here, on both B25 and B26. i think that would help people's speeds a lot. sure there will still be areas and towers that are just plain overloaded, but there are plenty of areas that a tower is covering that isn't overloaded but you get slow speeds simply because of signal.
  2. looks like you are connected to the clive water tower. while i don't get that way a ton, every time i'm around there i have no issues while on LTE. i haven't kept up on it much but i have seen many posts about the HTC One M9 having tons of LTE data/signal issues, because of that i would say your phone is your issue and until HTC releases a fix (assuming they can) you are going to continue to have issues. or you can try getting a different phone somehow. maybe the executive services support team can help you swap to a different phone?
  3. And really you only have 2 crappy ones in that set, 1 just ok one, 2 good ones and 1 really good one. So overall that's really not that bad.
  4. You are on the north end of merle hay in Johnston? If so that tower is B41 and has been for 8 to 9 months now. I always get 30 to 40 meg down on B41 from it when I drive by on my work commute. Even on the other 2 bands they are usually 10 plus meg. You must have some bad signal blockage or phone issues. Post a screenshot from signal check while at home so I can confirm you are connecting to the tower I think you are
  5. These were some of my speedtests on the south side of des Moines a long e 14th st. Of course that was testing 3 New B41 towers that recently came online there are at least 4 other B41 installs known that aren't online yet and several more coming.
  6. minus a 5 day stint where airplane mode stopped working to fix it, yeah as soon as it happens i can airplane mode and when it connects back its normal and only shows LTE.
  7. same on my flex 2, i got the updated SCP beta and an update for my phone and it still happens. i haven't left it alone enough to see how quick mine corrects itself, i either ignore it when it happens or do airplane mode right away to force it to correct when i see it.
  8. Nice! I haven't been prompted for the update yet. Notice any improvements? I wish they would be more descriptive in the patch notes....
  9. my wifes iphone 6 had a message on it this morning that a new carrier update was available and asked if i wanted to apply it now or not. i haven't updated her phone to 8.4 yet and i was on my way out the door to work so i didn't have time to check and see if this update would take it past carrier version 20.1. just wanted to mention it in case anyone else sees it.
  10. someone just posted in the G3 thread that there is an issue with the LG G3 and connecting to LTE, sprint is apparently working on the issue. so not much you can do until they release an update for it
  11. that area actually has 4 towers pretty close to it. it should be fixed once they get around to optimizing the sectors, mainly B26. also if your phone is still the iphone 5 you have listed then getting a new phone would give you access to B26 which would help a lot. i've tried using the sprint zone app a couple of times to report things but since there is no feedback i haven't been able to tell if they did anything with it....
  12. did the family share pack plans always have the same verbiage about always limiting video streams to 600kbps? if they didn't before they do now.....
  13. post an engineering screen shot here and your location and i'll add it to the list http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6891-b25-2nd-carrier-info/
  14. seriously this issue is so weird..... as my post above says, i was able to use airplane mode to consistently reset my connection when the 1x/LTE issue happened to take care of it, up until i posted the above post when every time my device went idle it started showing the 1x/LTE connections. it kept doing this since the above post all the way through late yesterday afternoon, then all of the sudden its back to "normal". i still get the 1x/LTE when it loses LTE and reconnects back in low signal areas, but now its back to airplane mode "fixing" it and it stays on just LTE, no more idling to "band 51". could this really be something on the network side? I would guess if its on the device side it should consistently work one way or the other, not change all overt he place like this? one good thing though is i checked my signal check logs after it had been doing the "Band 51" idle thing for awhile and confirmed that it is not being logged at all, as far as i can tell things are still logging correctly so at least that isn't getting messed up
  15. yep, BID 2690 we have logged/confirmed already. its the very last tower in iowa along I-35 before crossing into MO. looks like it would be roughly 50 miles away as the crow flies. not impossible to get a signal that far away, when 1x800 started coming online around here i picked up a tower 62 miles away in my house, it was a very weak unusable signal, but it was there.
  16. also a little more info on the issue..... i was watching my LTE engineering screen today and every time my phone goes idle the band will switch and say its on band 51.... then when data resumes it switches back to the band its actually connected to. it seems like this "switching to band 51" is what causes my phone to start displaying both 1x and LTE. i took a video of it and uploaded it to youtube sorry for the lower quality, you can see that after i do airplane mode i'm conencted to B26 and only LTE is listed in the notification bar up top for SCP. then after a few seconds the connection goes idle and it switches to band 51 and the 1x and LTE icons both show up for SCP in the notification bar.
  17. impossible..... thats the bug, the information being sent to signal check is all whacked and not correct, otherwise if it was you would only be seeing the LTE connection and the correct info for your LTE connection
  18. the message will be on the lock screen depending on how many other things are on there. initially it will show the message but then other notifications take over and there will just be a message icon. i don't think i have ever seen it turn the screen on when getting a text though. while at work i have my phone on vibrate and when i get a text it just vibrates and the little indicator light will flash every few seconds, but no screen turn on.
  19. looks like they are turning CA on. I have a coworker that just switched to sprint this week and he got the G4, i just checked it and CA was on. One of my other coworkers has a Flex 2, i checked his phone and CA was off, i did a profile update and checked again and it was now turned on.
  20. i'm starting to wonder if the 1x and LTE connections showing at the same time has something to do with the network? I don't know how thats possible but its just weird the way it acts on my phone. so for example, the 5.1.1 update did not fix the issue for me, but it did help in the sense that prior to 5.1.1 it was random on when both connections would show and nothing i did would consistently make it show just LTE, aka airplane mode wouldn't always work to get things displaying correctly. after the 5.1.1 update the issue still happened but now i could consistently fix it with airplane mode so it would only show LTE again. after getting it to a state where it would show just LTE it would stay that way until my phone lost LTE and reconnected to it or i entered a weak LTE area. today however my phone is showing both 1x and LTE and i can't seem to get it to stop. doing airplane mode gets it back to just the LTE connection for about 15 seconds and then the "no calls" icon shows and if refreshes and i'm back to both 1x and LTE displaying. i've repeated this several times throughout the morning and its been the same every time. since i haven't changed anything on my phone and no updates or anything i'm wondering if something is happening on the network side could be causing this behavior?
  21. definitely interested to see what this ends up being.... the "closest" current sprint tower to you (and i use the term closest loosely) is by Lancaster, MO. There isn't even a sprint tower in Unionville, MO. on the iowa side you have ottumwa, IA and I-35 near decatur city, IA. so yeah, either some fluke, a new tower, or some roaming partners service thats now showing up as native.....
  22. yes, please post signal check screenshots of the signal and your location. if you can make sure the screenshots have the BSL address in signal check on them. so far in iowa (at least in the des moines metro where i am) the BSL addresses have stayed accurate to tower locations.
  23. to answer your question you need to learn the difference between FDD and TDD. B25 is FDD LTE, which stands for frequency division duplex. so in a standard B25 carrier that sprint is deploying its 5x5 FDD. this means that 5 Mhz is dedicated to download and a different 5 Mhz is dedicated to upload. TDD LTE, which is what B41 is, is different in how it uses spectrum. TDD stands for time division duplex. so for the typical B41 carrier that sprint is deploying initially its 20 Mhz. since its TDD this means that the ENTIRE 20 Mhz is used for download and the same 20 Mhz chunk is also used for upload. They are able to use the same spectrum for both download and upload because its divided by time. So there are so many time slots used for download and then it switches and uses the time slots for upload and back and forth like that. Its so fast though that the user doesn't notice a difference. thats why people are saying "drop the x" when talking about B41 and TDD LTE, they set the carrier size, in this case 20 Mhz and its all used for both download and upload. then when you bring carrier aggregation into the picture it will be 2 20 Mhz carrier aggregated together to create a 40 Mhz carrier. 3 CA would be 60 Mhz and so on and so forth.
  24. i want to say that i remember reading someone posted in the ZV5 TOT thread on XDA they had the same issue and there was a way to get out of that but i can't remember what it was. might want to double check that thread.
