  1. For those not familiar with the GT-i5510, this is a GSM slider phone that has a 600mHz single core Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM. Not much different of a stat sheet than the Nexus One which had 1gHz single core Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon, 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/8848669/Android-upgrade-for-Google-Nexus-S-in-weeks.html There are already developers who have created unofficial ICS ports for the Nexus One, but it is surprising that a handset with less impressive hardware than the Samsung Moment can support ICS but Google leaves Nexus One owners out in the cold. Check out the writeup about WillingMagic's CM9 port for the GT-i5510 at XDA http://www.xda-developers.com/android/ics-minimum-specs-tested-to-the-limit/
  2. I think it is a good idea. The only sticking point is that carriers usually save the best features for their bread and butter postpaid customers. They reap more profit from the postpaid customers, which is probably why they try to promote postpaid subscription over prepaid. Although prepaid is still a large part of sprint's business model, and they have given boost and virgin mobile a lot of premium services and LTE is less expensive to maintain than evdo. It's probably just a matter of time. We will see what Verizon does since they have a LTE head start Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

  4. Very well said, I was trying to think of an analogy with cars and all I could think of was driving a little death trap that had a top speed of 30. OK for around town but worthless on the open road. The other thing is that unless you put a value on unlimited data, sprint is not much cheaper than the "two evils" and for some they are more expensive. They have stripped all the benefits that made them the "customer service carrier" now they are just another carrier offering sub par service to anyone who is not lucky enough to be in a wimax service area. 10. They both are. They don't get Android Marketplace revenue from iPad or Kindle Fire users. I guess the Kindle fire can be rooted and android marketplace added... For the most part all kindle fire revenue goes to amazon. There is also the issue of developers jumping off the Android train and going to Kindle Fire and Windows Phone platforms to create apps. Google has to counteract that and become a player in the tablet market.
  11. Well, now that I read that article, I feel like Chinese hackers are downloading everything off my hard drive. Companies have been reverse engineering their competitors products for years, this hacking of source documents just speeds up the process. In no way am I saying it is right, but it is the shady part of business. Even US companies do it. Whether or not Huawei engaged in the hacking or use of the intellectual property, they are innovating beyond what others have done.
  12. That article hit it on the head. They are losing a ton of revenue with Amazon's Kindle Fire taking the Android market share and need something blockbuster and cheap to compete with it. A $200 powerful Android tablet could reverse that trend and put more tablets in the hands of those who have resisted the tablet craze because it was "too expensive" or "impractical." I don't know if Google will reap the kind of revenue that Amazon scrapes out of their platform, but they need some at least. A $300 10 inch tablet will probably sell even more stock than the 7 incher..
  13. Where do you get your facts for this assertion? 1. Motorola claimed that Huawei infringed on their patents, but in the end, Motorola came to an agreement with Huawei. http://www.reuters.c...E73C2V820110413 2. Sprint blocked Huawei (and ZTE) from bidding on network vision contracts Report: Sprint excludes Huawei, ZTE from network project over security concerns - FierceWireless http://www.fiercewir...5#ixzz1o4fCIZJG 3. http://tech.fortune....uawei-so-scary/ It all boils down to, the DOD is afraid of Chinese spying using the network equipment that would have covered vast areas of the USA if Huawei would have been awarded a contract.
