  2. Oh, that is beautiful! Makes the nexus look like crap in comparison Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
  3. To be exact, they put "My Verizon Mobile" and "VZ Backup Assistant" on it, but they are easily disabled.
  4. sorry, it was box, not dropbox :jester: ... http://blog.box.com/2012/02/android-users-get-50gb-free-get-your-box50gb-and-enter-the-box-mobile-giveaway/
  5. Yes, it was a joke Verizon actually has bloat on the nexus
  6. This thing is a bear to root/rom. Thank God for the developers on the more popular devices, they make it so easy... I probably spent 6 hours messing with this thing, but I'm ready for CM9 when it is finished
  7. Sprint keeps trying to put bloatware on the nexus I bet. And Google won't let them have it on there... Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

  10. OK, so when I get in a boot loop with a phone I am modding, I pull the battery, reinsert and go into recovery or download mode. With a non-removable battery, the manufacturer would have to put a power off button combo on it. I just spent 15 minutes trying to power off my Galaxy Tab and it kept doing a reset with Vol - and Power... man did I feel stupid when I tried Vol + and Power and it turned off. I can just about imagine someone trying to mod the RAZR MAXX, making the same mistake as I did, and waiting 17 days for the battery to die.
  11. WOW 8GB of RAM? Doesn't Apple only put like 512MB in the 4S? I just had to be a smartass...
  12. Exactly. Overages are pretty much free money to the carriers. The tiers are the best way to limit usage(and abuse)/make extra money/create (percieved) better customer service when they refund overage charges.
  13. I didn't even pay for my P1010 and I felt ripped off... LOL
  14. That is a great article. Good find. After reading that article, it almost looks like DT decided it wants to either compete in the US market or set itself up to sell to an entity that is not currently in the wireless game. The graphic on device interoperability is scary to Sprint. They could be the only major wireless carrier who requires special devices...
  15. You are correct, it is A9 based. The thing about the performance tests though, is that the Tegra 3 is available now. They are already working on a mid cycle replacement which will also spank the current Tegra 3 in performance. Not to mention, they have not released their smartphone chip yet (the AP30). The T30 Tegra 3 is for tablets. Although, I would expect the OMAP TI chips to be all the rage this year because ICS is optimized for them. The theme has been whatever processor is in the Nexus is the hot processor for that year. See snapdragon and exynos (hummingbird). The interesting thing is that TI has been rumored to be trying to sell their OMAP division and this could really bring the value up.
  16. Not sure if anyone else has the red-headed stepchild of the Galaxy Tab lineup, but MadTeam has started compiling a CM9 ROM for the 7" WiFi only version of the Galaxy tab. Samsung has pretty much deserted the P1010, bringing the rest of its GTab lineup to gingerbread or higher (although Samsung released a gingerbread OS for the european P1010 in January which works on the US version). The MadTeam development forum link is http://www.madteam.co/forum/development-73/ Their version of CM9 is still in development, but there are a lot of owners of the P1010 that have volunteered to test for them when they finish. So if you have a P1010, you may want to find something else to stick under the table leg to level it up because it might actually be useful in the near future. Also, if you are looking for a cheap tablet running ICS, I bet you can find these things cheap, and the best thing is, they have probably barely been used...
  17. Yeah. I hope this is a small scale problem and not something that spirals out of control.
  18. According to cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike, there is an email link making its way around. Once the link is opened, the virus takes over the phone allowing the hacker to listen in on phone calls and monitor the location, and have full control of the phone. The virus uses a flaw in Android's webkit browser to gain control. Currently it is limited to Froyo, but a Gingerbread version is coming soon. Hopefully Google's engineers can patch this vulnerability before it becomes widespread. iOS had a similar vulnerability exploited in 2009 but Apple quickly patched it. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Android-bug-can-lead-hackers-to-grab-total-control-of-your-phone_id27275
