  1. I haven't read it yet but I wanted to get it out to you guys for your thought http://www.phonearena.com/news/WSJ-Sprint-may-not-have-enough-unused-spectrum-for-high-quality-LTE-rollout_id32527
  2. My thoughts are they should be future proofing phones. I'm not sure they make a bunch off phones anyway. I thought it was about the accessories and service Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
  3. I read that a few times, and maybe I will have to read it a few more lol but I wasn't sure. So if I look at the sponser maps, all the NV sites that I see will have LTE right? another question is are all of Sprint sites getting the NV treatment? and the improvements listed on https://network.sprint.com/ is that NV they are referring too?
  4. I didn't word the topic right so I'm sorry about that. What I'm asking is does the NV upgrades include the addition of LTE to those towers and does the addition of LTE to an existing tower automatically mean NV upgrade to that tower? Hope that makes sense..
  5. Can you compare those results against a 3G connection in the same location? I know people are geeked about LTE but I'm more into the comparisons between the two.
  6. Sometimes I think it would be helpful for carriers to identify early adopter phones and explain to customers what that may mean exactly. Maybe even set up some special forums on their web pages for a little hand holding and such. It may not cost much but may go a long way. Carriers should really stop treating smartphone like feature phones.
  7. Well said and well written. I am not one of the complainers but I will say that I hope that Sprint does not let us down again. Many were promised 4G service and never got it, ended up leaving behind legacy plans that for the most cases gave them higher bills, and ended up with a $10.00 dollar charge for premium data all because they were promised something that never came. I understand the circumstances of WiMax but it still hurt tons of customers who believed. I was in Tampa and was always fine with it but I do wonder about those people.
  8. I guess my meaning was more geared to looking for more cell sites to "out" on the forums..
  9. You doing any wardriving while away lol
  10. And be using both signals. Meaning I'm on a call and refreshing Twitter at the same time
  11. Thats good info thanks. I actually visted one of the sites a mile from my job that is due to be a NV upgrade. Its only a mile away but lord know based on my covereage at my job I have never connected there. Do you know any other Apps like Opensignal that I can use to compare?
  12. Does anyone know why a phone chooses one tower over another?
  13. Hey are you LTE recipients seeing better coverage inside buildings than you did with WiMax?
  14. I have a question. I see people throwing around 800MHZ and 1900MHZ in comparison to 700MHZ. Can someone explain to me what this means as far reception inside buildings? I have always been sort of jealous of my Verizon using friends because it seems like they and T-Mobile customers I know have great reception indoors at my job but I sit looking at my icon grayed out most of the day unless I'm in a exact location in my building. I wish I could tell Sprint they need a tower over here..
  15. I agree seems to be a waste in most cases. Here's my follow up though. Does anyone think at some point we will see carriers start to tier speeds with gauranteed throughputs. 3-7Mbps -$20.00 a month unlimited, 8-10Mbps $30.00 a month unlimited.
  16. Hey guys new around and i just want to toss something out there. I was talking to myself the other day (Yes, I do this quite a bit because no one I know cares about phones or networks) and was thinking what would I be happy with for speed with my network. That led me to what do I actually need for my speed to be to actually do the things I do. I know Verizon and AT&T are throwing around average speeds of about 14-17Mbps and maybe thats what we will get with Sprint but is it what we need? Just based on what I do which is downloading apps, watching some YouTube, and streaming music and internet radio what else are people doing that requires them to need 15Mbps and is what you need it for reasonable for a mobile network to handle?
  17. Goff Communications. I don't have that type of vision to see that on the trucks but I used to work for them when I first moved to Florida. I can tell you that I hung a buch of Nextel panels and ran tons of coax back in 1994. It would make sense for them to be involved. I can tell you guys too that if you see tower guys working don't be afraid to walk up and say hi. Maybe with a few Gatorades and ask some questions. Most of them are not hardcore phone geeks but they love job they do and love talking about it. You could get some real good info that way.
