  1. I think SignalCheck uses APIs for Qualcomm processor as it appears the signals are only read on devices using Qualcomm modems. Try Exynos/Kirin-based devices and you'll have a bad time. I think Mediatek processor (BLU HD R2) worked though so maybe Exynos/Kirin are using newer API that Signalcheck is just not utilizing.

The Note 5 works just fine with SCP. It has an Exynos processor.

  2. Is everyone else's phone way laggy? Mine will hang for several seconds at time, many times a day. Wondering if I should wipe, or is this just a product of the new software.

I don't notice any lag since the update. I wiped the cache though right after I updated. That may help.

  3. Oh, OK. I pay a ridiculous amount of money for home Internet since there is only one provider in my county. $100 a month for cable Internet for 25 down, 5 up, with a 500GB cap. The provider happens to be Shentel. I love their wireless side of things, but their home Internet price is way higher than it would be if we had any competition here.

  4. Hello Everyone,

I'm located in Morgantown, WV near the Star City exit off I79 and approximately 2 miles straight line to the closest tower. I'm at about 1000' elevation with few obstructions between my house and the tower. I use a Sprint Netgear LTE Gateway 6100D with unlimited/unthrottled data plan for my home internet. In addition I have a 10db Yagi antenna that is fixed inside my attic but pointed out a window towards the closest Shentel tower. The yagi is connected to the Netgear device. My only other option currently is Frontier with 6MB/1MB plan. I've used this solution since June 2016. It requires resetting the modem 1-2 times per week and speeds typically range between 6-10 MB download and 2-5 MB upload with a Ping ranges between 100-200 ms.

My questions for folks on this forum are related to Morgantown, WV only and specifically the Shentel tower located near Lowes/Morgantown mall in Westover. 1. What Sprint bands are available with this tower? 2. Anyone getting speeds faster than mine listed above? 3. Any upgrades planned by Shentel for Morgantown and this tower? 4. Anything else you can share on Sprint/Shentel for this market?

    Thanks in advance!

I know this doesn't help you, but I'm curious how you got an unlimited plan for home use? I didn't know Sprint did that.

  5. Even LG has dual cameras, though for the opposite effect, for wider zoom.

So they shouldn't include that feature just for worry that people are going to accuse them of copying Apple?

I thought you were saying they should copy the entire phone. If dual cameras are a feature people want, then that's obviously a feature they could add. It would need to be worth it though, not just a gimmick. If it improves the quality of the pictures, that's pretty cool. If it's just a gimmick, then they might pass on it.

  6. No dual cameras in the S8 it seems? Wow, maybe Samsung is saving it for the Note 8.

You'd think Samsung would copy the iPhone 7 Plus.

Why would they copy it? They should create their own product that differentiates itself from Apple, not just copies it. Nobody wants a copy, they want the original.

  7. Galaxy S7

Just installed the new G935PVPU4APL6/G935PSPT4APL6/6935PVPU4APL6 update.

Looks like it added  3XCA for band 41 and possibly band 25 + band 25 aggregation.

Looks like the phone is now ready for this, attachicon.gifaggregation.jpgbut I do not see it happening yet.

See the attached screenshot showing the ##DATA# screen.

How do you get to that screen where it shows the check boxes? I got into the ##DATA# screen, then click view, but then what do you click on to show it? Or do you need the MSL to go into the "edit" side?

  8. Talk on the phone, switch to internet while still on the phone. Get what I need from the internet and continue talking on speaker phone.

The Note 4 couldn't do that without being connected to WiFi. The Note 3 was the last note device on Sprint that could do simultaneous voice and data.

  9. My Not 4 just died on me. I feel lost with out it. Sprint gave me th N5 they didnt have anymore N4's. I hate the n5. You cant multitask while talking on the phone, know SD card, couldn't fit what i had in my n4 to n5. Anyone here something about Note 8 coming out soon??

Probably sometime between Aug and Oct, as they have the past few years.

  10. I loved my Note 2 and the entire note series (sans burning phones). I think the reason I skipped the Note 3 or 4 was it was one of the last single band LTE devices, only supporting Band 25. Then I moved on to a S4T, Moto X Pure, and now a Nexus 6P. I love the size and features of the "phablet" devices.

My biggest gripe about the Note 2, S4T, and all Samsung devices is the TouchWiz interfaces. I can't see myself ever going back to a device that utilizes an overlay from stock Android.

It will be very interesting to see how this device is marketed after the Note 7 debacle.

If you haven't had a Samsung phone since the S4T, you really need to try a new one. The Note 7's TouchWiz was awesome (for the 10 days I owned it). I've been hoping they would port that version to the Note 5, but they haven't so far. I'm probably going to go with the larger of the two S8s, but I do like the Note line. I've owned the Note 4 and 5 now (and the 7 for a very brief time).

  11. Still loving this 8" tablet. Its my Amazon Prime and Netflix device, the only downfall I've found is that MHL and Miracast are disabled.

My 4 year old daughter mainly uses this when we're out and about, although I use it some too. I think we used 20GB or so of data last month (a lot of Paw Patrol and YouTube kids). It's well worth the $20 a month we're paying for service.

  12. Has anyone else noticed that when you are texting someone, it will automatically switch to SMS when the other person doesn't have data? My wife was on the phone at one point today when I sent her a message (she was not on Wifi and obviously didn't have LTE data while on the call). It sent as SMS instead of RCS. I thought that was pretty cool. RCS seems pretty intelligent, at least so far. It will also send a message as SMS if you are on a phone call and aren't connected to wifi.

  13. You would think a tech writer would understand the technology before writing something that is completely wrong. I bolded the incorrect info.

    From the article:

"Unlike most carriers, Sprint uses three different frequencies including the 2.5GHz airwaves that are higher frequency. While such airwaves offer higher capacity and speed, they also have the opposite features of low frequency spectrum such as limited distance and an inability to penetrate buildings. But the 3 x carrier aggregation allows all three bands to be used giving Sprint customers the best of each of the three frequencies. The HTC Bolt, a Sprint exclusive, is the first phone offered by the carrier to support this technology out of the box"
