  1. Actually, it is $25/mo after auto-pay discount. Sprint did raise the rate by $5/mo about a month and a half ago or so.

As of my last bill, it was still $20 for me, but I might be grandfather in at that price. I guess I'll find out on my next bill.

  2. I might grab one for my kids possibly, but I was curious if this has CA on B41?

They are now for sale at Sprint for $199 with $100 off, so it's $4 a month for the tablet with the $25 mo for unlimited data with 10 gigs of hotspot.

Is this tablet still worth getting considering how old it is?

It's actually $20 a month if you set up auto pay.

The Hotspot works well. You can actually have it use 2.4 or 5 ghz wifi if you go into the advanced settings.

No B41 CA as far as I can tell. I'm fairly certain it's just single carrier. The last update was in October 2016. It does run Android 6.0, so it's fairly up to date. It would be nice to get 7.0, but I don't know if Samsung will put the effort into it at this point. I also bought mine for around $100 new on ebay. I wouldn't pay more than that. It runs everything fairly well except for the PlayStation Vue app. It takes awhile for it to load, but once it's playing something, it then plays OK. It's a decent mid range tablet.

If I can find a Tab S2 at a decent price though, I may buy it to replace the Tab E since it has higher spec internals and screen. Unfortunately, they're hard to find since Samsung hasn't manufactured them for a while now.

  3. A new B41 setup just went up on a tower near my parents' house in South Allentown. The weird thing is they have the GCI set as 01A instead of 01B for B41, so it only shows as LTE in SCP, instead of LTE 2500.

I also noticed on my way in on I-78 that there's some 10x10 B25 popping up. SCP also doesn't recognize it, and just shows as LTE without the band. I confirmed all of this through the engineering screen. Some of this was in the small section of the Central PA market, and some in the Philly Market.

  4. I sold my Note 5 yesterday. It would have been nice to try the update before I shipped it out. Oh well. I've been using an HTC Bolt the past 10 days or so, but I just picked up a brand new blue S7 Edge on Swappa for a really good price that will be here on Friday. I'm excited for that phone. The Bolt is OK, but I think it's going to be our back up device. It's just not anywhere near as good (my subjective opinion) as Samsung.

  5. I've used this phone a few days now and I've noticed the antenna they put in this phone is terrible with B41. My dbm is about 10 lower than my S7 and my Note 5. The Bolt drops to B25 in my house when the S7 and Note 5 stay on B41 just fine.

The lower signal strength is only seen on B41 though. B25/B26 seem to be about the same as my other two phones. It's a shame HTC did this, considering this was supposed to be Sprint's "fastest phone." On a back to back speed test with the S7 in the same place at about 3am, the Bolt was in the upper 30s download, while the S7 was over 50 mbps on B41 single carrier.

I really wanted to like this phone, but with the slower speeds and with it dropping off B41 so quick, I'm going to a different phone. I may keep this as a backup since I got it so cheap, but I will need to sell either this or the Note 5 to finance my next phone. I've decided to try the S7 Edge. The S8+ is nice, but I can't justify the price tag.

  6. I just got the update notification myself, it says system enhancements and bug updates.

Yeah, that's always so vague. It would be nice to know exactly what was updated.
  7. I received my Bolt on Monday, minus a SIM card. While I was waiting on the SIM card to come, I got the phone set up on wifi. It downloaded two updates and then said I was up-to-date. As soon as I activated it today when the SIM card came, it said I had a new system update (1.32.651.6). This isn't even showing up on Sprint's website. Any idea what's in it? It was around 650MB, so it would seem it's fairly substantial. I'm showing January 1, 2017 security update, which I think is the same as the one before, although I'm not 100% sure.

  8. At this point on the LTE game if its only 5x5 b25/26. Band 41 or at least 10x10 25 is needed period unless you live in the middle of nowhere.

There are some areas near me you would probably consider the middle of nowhere. 5x5 B25 and B26 is all they have on some of the rural towers here, and they run faster than some towers in the towns and cities with 40 Mhz B41, 10x10 B25, 5x5 B25, and B26.

  9. I have no idea what a B25 signal looks like at this point lol.

Some of us wish we had that "problem." B41 is starting to fill in here in the more populated areas (in the cities and towns), but it's not ubiquitous as it is in other places. It would be nice to have it everywhere, but I know Shentel is being smart with their money and only putting it where they believe it's needed. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it would be nice to have B41 on all towers.

  10. I received an HTC Bolt today, but unfortunately it didn't have a SIM card in it. Anybody local have a card that would work? I called the Woodstock Sprint store and was told to come in. After waiting in line for over an hour, they couldn't find the correct one.

Even though it's the same size SIM as my Note 5, they said it needs to say "80.01" on it. If anyone has one, let me know. Otherwise I'll have to see if any other Sprint stores around here have one tomorrow.

    Thanks.

  11. I'm considering replacing my Note 5 with the Bolt. I read the posted opinions, but now that it's a few months since release, any changed opinions? How is the battery life holding up?

  12. What are the earfcn? In some of Shentel, there are wireless internet providers occupying the prime BRS spectrum. EDS is harder to coordinate contiguous spectrum.

41176 & 40978. Those are the two that are on the tower closest to me, but I also think they are the only two used in this area, iirc.

  13. This is excellent news. I have been across I-68 as well and I know how bad it is there right now.

I just wish they'd rolled the few Sprint-managed Southern Virginia market counties into it. It's only 5 counties and the existing sites are nearly all running LTE already, they just need more sites.

That would be nice. Hopefully it will happen someday.

  14. Ah, ok. The article I posted must have been a late article talking about the delay from Feb.

It will still probably be a little while until Sprint releases it, but hopefully by the end of the month. My wife has a GS6.
