  1. As long as you're paying for TEP ($11/Mo. Insurance) you're good to go for a replacement regardless of warranty status. Bear in mind the first 2 repairs/replacements in a calendar year are free. Any subsequent repair/replacements would be 25 dollars plus tax.

If you aren't paying for TEP, in-warranty and out of warranty replacements are 75 dollars plus tax. Hope that helps

Yeah, I have another company for insurance. I pay less than that for both of our phones.

  2. Did either of you two see success? Mine started rebooting about 2 days ago. It's highly frustrating. I'm about ready to take it to store and see if they can do anything about it. I did a factory reset right after the marshmallow update installed and it seemed to work fine for the first 4 days. Then suddenly Monday night it started with the reboots and hasn't stopped since.

I haven't done a factory reset yet, but it seems like it has been rebooting less often than it had. I think it only did it once yesterday.

Will Sprint order a replacement even if it's past the warranty? Mine has long since run out. I bought it on launch day.

  3. Has anybody else had any trouble with random reboots since the upgrade? It seems mine has been rebooting on its own about 3 times per day. I know I should do a factory reset to get a clean install, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this same problem?

  4. Well folks, it became easier to move to a different sprint region then get shentel to fix this mess lol :-) (joking...kinda)

Moving up to Columbus, OH (got a new job)here in a few days, and will be promptly switching to sprint soon after. Its be fun, but I am looking forward to living an a market that is serviced by sprint proper.

    Congrats on the new job.

  5. Will there be any software updates for the Sprint Note 4 to remove Spark startup screen and the spinning walmart like icon?

From what I've read, Samsung is still going to update the Note 4, at least to 6.0. That may be the last major update though as the phone is 16 months old now.

  6. Anyone having issues where the phone cuts off and won't start back until I pull the battery? Also the 4 pins that contact the battery. Are they suppose to be the same length or staggered 2 are the same 1 is slightly shorter and the last one is the shortest.

    Sent from a Note 4

All my pins are the same length. I have not had any issues with the phone locking up, at least not since the 5.1 update.

  7. I'm seeing something new in my neighborhood and not sure what to make of what SignalCheck says it is. It's reporting it as 1xRTT which historically would mean horrible performance in the pre NV 2.0 days but my speed test is decent. What am I seeing here?

That's the infamous android bug. Theres a lot of info on it earlier in this thread. You are truly on LTE, not 1x.

  8. Was there a PRL update in the past week or two? My Note 4 reception has gone to crap, and it keeps dropping into roaming. Roaming... in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. It was very rare that would happen in DFW. Now, it frequently happens, like I'm driving out in the country.

The worst part is the OS bug which ignores the roam guard setting. I have it turned off, and the phone still pops up the roam guard warning screen. Click "Don't show this again." and OK and it keeps coming back again and again.

I did a PRL Update, profile update and restarted the phone. No change.

I haven't had any issues here, but I'm in another market (Shentel). You may want to post this in your market thread too, if you haven't done so already. There's a chance it could be a market problem and not an issue everywhere.

  9. Probably but I took it to a good store with good techs and had them swap it out for me. It lasted an hour and failed. I called him back when I got back to work and it had failed and they ordered me a replacement phone again. He thinks it's probably the card reader but those parts are no longer available and you can still get a refurb phone on a one week backorder. This one just has to last a couple months anyway until the s7 comes out. Curiously I still have 3G service.

The sim card only affects LTE service. You can pull it out of a Sprint phone and still have 3G. Glad they got you a replacement though.

  10. SIM card fail. Started last night on the way home. A reboot of the phone fixed it over night. Failed hard this morning.

    Reboot. No luck

Remove and replace card. No luck.

Remove, blow out port, cotton cloth clean card contacts, click card in and out of the port a few times to try to rub those contact pins cleaner.

    No improvement.

I was going to wait until the s7 released, might have to get a short term replacement on the service plan first now.

Can't you just have Sprint send you a new Sim card?

  11. I'm headed to Holiday Lake 4-H camp near Appomattox on Friday. It appears I'll be in roaming coverage there (per Sprint map), but was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with that area, especially recently. Also, if anyone knows if they have Wifi there, that would be helpful. Maybe I could at least make calls with that if the cellular coverage is terrible. Thanks.

  12. Well only reason I've thought about upgrading is my note 4 is getting sluggish sometime, gps drops sometimes, and the screen dosent wake when I get a call every so often. I've done a few hard resets and battery pulls, and sprint said they can't give me a refurbished since they say it's software relates so yay me. I'll see what happens though

Have you done a factory reset? I had some of those same issues until I did a factory reset.

  13. Has anyone used android pay on the note 4? And of so can you delete the card if you done like it or don't use it much? Thanks guys.

    Sent from a Note 4

I have, but it's pretty limited where it can be used right now. You can delete a card anytime you want.

  14. The limit is based on the dual made capability of Sprint's pcs equipment which is 2 lte carriers + up to 6 cdma carriers.

So either way, once there are two 5 mhz lte carriers live, the only future recourse is to expand one of the LTE carriers. That is unless they deploy another antenna and radio set and reconfigure one set for cdma and one for LTE. Then there is the capability of 4 individual lte carriers from the single mode operations and 4x MIMO on PCS.

With the capability of having two carriers on PCS, can they both utilize higher bandwidth carriers? For instance, could they both be 10x10 or larger? With the spectrum assets of ntelos, they should have plenty of spectrum to do it (soon).

With the lack of B41 spectrum in our area, I hope they can do that.

  15. I would say that's a pretty good guess.

Strasburg, VA has 4 towers in the area. After checking all 4, two appear to have just 1 B25 carrier and 1 B26 carrier, one tower has 2 B25 carriers (both 5x5) and 1 B26 carrier. The remaining one has B26 and 2 B25 carriers, one being 10x10. It seems as though the tower where it is active is probably where the highest population density is, so it appears Shentel is really picking and choosing where to put the increased bandwidth, which makes sense.

  16. A new battery should help, but if you haven't done a factory reset since the 5.1 update, do it. My battery drained like crazy until I did a factory reset. I am getting easily twice the battery life since the reset a few months ago.
