  1. nTelos was not all bad they did have a lot more B41 installed before Shentel even launched one B41 site. The only bad thing they really did was have LTE on but only for their customers. Woodstock, VA was already deep into Shentel market before nTelos.

Woodstock is part of the original Shentel territory, but they had no B41 spectrum here until the ntelos deal went through. So this new found B41 is related to the merger.

  2. Once again Sprint fails to deliver cellular gear s watch. I am so disappointed in Sprint right now. I guess I will get the tmobile version. It has volte this time around.

I think Sprint won't carry the LTE version because they don't have VoLTE available yet where the others do.

  3. What's the deal with sprint not turning on VoLTE and just build LTE only towers? I get that the LTE coverage isn't the best but there has to be another way to save money....

Data speed really is isn't a huge issue. Besides the call quality is so bad I can barely hear. Also I get worse service outside of the shentel/Ntelos area. Williamsburg and va beach was like the Stone Age.

How is AT&T compared to Verizon in southwest va?

If you're still in Roanoke, you're still on the old ntelos network. Shentel is working on improving the network now that they bought it out, but within a year or less, you should start seeing improvements over what you have now.

  4. Hey guys I just got a email saying milk music is ending support from Samsung some milk music will be no more as of the 22nd of September

There was an announcement about this a couple months ago I think on Android Central. There are just too many streaming services and they couldn't make it profitable.

  5. I picked up some B41 in Edinburg, VA today. It's the tower "downtown" on top of a building Shentel owns. Speeds weren't super fast, but they may still be tweaking it. 2 carriers were active, and it was going back and forth between CA and just being on one carrier on my Note 5. Speeds were about the same (35 mbps down) on my Note 5 and my S4, so I'm pretty sure something wasn't working correctly yet as far as CA is concerned. Still waiting on a couple towers to come online with B41 in Woodstock. I'll post back when they do. This sure is nice to start seeing some progress.

  6. Anyone notice the back and menu feedback is weaker after the latest update? First thing I noticed after upgrading. Not an issue at all really just found it weird.

Probably a battery saving thing. Every little bit helps, and the vibration motor uses a good bit of battery.

  7. Well, I just moved for a job...

Fortunately its from one excellent Sprint coverage area to another. I have been driving around a lot of Winchester, VA and see almost exclusively 10x10 B25. I also found a couple areas with B41.

Interestingly I was in Toys R US July 25th and also experienced (similar to what derrph said) really slow to no connection despite good signal and 15 Mbs download on speed test.

10x10 and 5x5 B25 LTE exists on most towers in the area, along with 5x5 B26. B41 is relatively new to Shentel. They just started going up in the last 6-12 months.

  8. I guess Shentel finally got approval to use B41 spectrum in Shenandoah Co, VA. I remember reading before that they didn't have any here and had to wait for the ntelos deal to go through to acquire some. Anyway, I watched a couple days ago as the B41 panels were installed on a tower in Woodstock. I have a pic, but I need to shrink it before I post. I'll post it up in a little bit. If anyone has more info on how much B41 spectrum there is here, I would love to know. For instance, how many carriers are possible. I'm hoping at least 60 mhz (3 carriers), but that may be wishful thinking.

  9. I can't win this S7 is having the same issue's, has to be a tower issue ugh.

All that and it's a tower issue? That was a lot of wasted time and energy, except for maybe getting a new phone out of it, albeit a smaller one that you didn't really want in the first place.

  10. Saw B41 (and second carrier) in Harrisonburg on Monday.

I have a question. The Shentel region is the first Sprint region (as opposed to nTelos) where I've seen B25 second carrier. For example, I saw second carrier in Luray, though the site west of town did not have it. I was under the impression that the single NV panel could handle multiple B25 carriers, but when I looked at the tower, I saw two panels, the NV panel and something else. There was no B41 present, so I assume it wasn't an 8T8R (unless it just hadn't been activated yet?). Below are pictures. Any ideas what they could be?

    The other rack is Verizon.

That's how a lot of our towers are in Shentel-land. I've asked the same question before and someone said that the one panel has a wider spread for more coverage and the other flatter panel pushes the signal farther out. That sounds plausible, but I would think that would mean different GCIs for the panels, which I've not seen. So I'm not really sure. I'm fairly certain they are not B41 antennas because they've been like this for over 4 years now. I wouldn't think they would let them lay dormant for this long.

  11. I compared the RF (in RSRP) of my newly acquired used Note 5 to the RF of an S4T (who many regard as a strong RF device), they are pretty equal. When I do lose LTE, it seems to go back to LTE fairly quick. This is weird that some are having RF issues and others are not.

  12. Thats pretty extreme... im telling you you should do factory restore..and if it still persists. Its hardware issue

After the initial Marshmallow update, I did a factory reset. I just don't want to pay to get a replacement. I may break down and do it at some point though.

  13. New update. Downloading now

Just finished installing it. Hopefully it'll fix my restart issue. It's not been terrible. Usually once or twice a day, but it's still annoying when it happens.

  14. I believe that is US Cellular territory, and will count toward roaming.

Between the two cities, though, is Carolina West Wireless, which may or may not count.

Thanks for the quick response. It's good to know I'll have to go easy on data. I just downloaded a bunch of music and offline maps, so I shouldn't need too much data while I'm out of native service. I'll have wifi in the hotel too, so I should be fine.
