  1. My S5 is on 51101 sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  2. Agreed. I would suspect many Sprint noobs would complain immediately that they have no signal with the S5. However it's a very usable 1 bar. I hope they recalibrate this soon. sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  3. It's another tower and I know which one.....the answers are hiding in the premier forums.....join us on the dark side.
  4. Also, the location you were getting with your voice was probably most often, not the same site as your LTE on your old phone. They aren't from the same source all the time unless you're in an isolated area. LTE signals don't broadcast the locations. You have to cross reference the GCI of the LTE with the known lists in your area.....and those are in the premier forums.
  5. The Marketplace and Fish Hatchery towers have been real slow for me until this morning. Back up into the 20s down, 9 up. Hopefully they're preparing the B26 switch? sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  6. Got my replacement new device today and the camera rattles on this one too when the camera isn't engaged. FYI. Camera works well despite this. Placebo, I'm sure, but the reception seems slightly stronger with this device. sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  7. This is apparently the focus mechanism and it "may" rattle some when the camera is not engaged (on). When the camera is engaged (app open), it will go away as its doing its job. Not all behave this way though from my internet readings and it is not an indication your camera is bad. It did happen that my camera did that and I DID get the camera failed error twice, but that was perhaps a coincidence.
  8. University Ave. store near hospital. PM me if you can check up on my claim number or something. I'd appreciate that. sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  9. Also, wanted to throw this into the user thread here in case anyone else experiences it. I did have the "Camera Failed" notification twice on my device when going into the camera, something that has been happening to Verizon Users most notably, but can happen to any early run S5. A reboot did have the camera come back to function though, unlike some stories I've read online. I went to a Sprint Store and they ordered me a new phone which should be in on Friday. I do not have TEP but this is covered 100% and a free replacement if anyone else gets it. It should be a replacement with a brand new device and not a refurb. I'm worried that this store ordered me a refurb since it had to be ordered, however I confirmed with him it was a new device and he said "yes". We'll see when it comes in. They're a third party owned Sprint repair facility, so perhaps they can't scalp their inventory so easily? Other camera observations I didn't see in this thread (sorry if I missed them) is 1) the camera does rattle some when not in the app, which is the focus mechanism; once in the app, the rattle with stop as its engaged and 2) my camera (even before the failed message) sometimes showed a black screen for 2-3 seconds before the image appears to snap. I believe the latter is what the international model got the software update for and hopefully what is coming our way. The RDF page shows a NE3 build in testing. http://device.sprintpcs.com/Samsung/SM-G900P-SPRINT/NE3.rdf
  10. That's an interesting find. It seems to be missing from the S5?? To quickly get to settings, here's what I have set up. I use Nova Launcher with gestures (swipe down anywhere give me notifications, double tap = camera, two fingers slide down is toggles, etc.). To get to settings, I have it set to "swipe up" on the screen. Then I have set my "Quick Settings" in my settings menu to be the ones I need to get to quickly. The funny thing is that I have historically always had a shortcut to "Battery" setup in my Nova and when I restore my nova the shortcut appears there and works. So making a shortcut still works in theory, its just not visible in the S5 by long pressing on the home screen like it used to be. I'll keep digging.
  11. Actually, maybe they won't after reading the internets for a while. But I did find this place that sells them and has instructions on how to replace the S5 charging port cover. It looks incredibly simple. One screw. Good to bookmark this: http://goo.gl/NJTWpi sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  12. No. Samsung will fix it in the first year, or year and 3 months if you registered on Samsung.com. Or if you have Sprint TEP just take it in to a store. You'll just have to send it in. If anyone has experience if a Sprint repair facility can do this, chime in. Or can it be replaced by end user? sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  13. No, I haven't had any luck with the Galaxy Gifts BS. I tweeted at SamsungMobileUS but they just said there was a widget on one of my homescreens that would take me to the gifts. However, I don't have that widget on my phone anywhere that I can find. When I just go to the Gifts website, there is nothing to click except the LinkedIN promotion....which requires a credit card. The rest just send you to Samsung app store. So I'm not going to install these apps from the Samsung app store and delink them from the Google Play store just for some free 3 months of garbage. I sent an email to Samsung detailing how their duplication of services and applications is ruining Android on their phones and confusing the customer experience. I too have an expiring 50GB from my S3 and haven't seen any bump with my S5 now that I'm logged in (or Box for that matter). It's all crap. I'm sure you have to be a new Samsung account or something. Funny about the camera plastic. That has been the #1 issue with the S4 and now the S5 that I've had to correct on my friends' phones. They had no idea why pictures had this halo to them.
  14. Well on the S5 they should recalculate them regardless. Looks like 1 bar everywhere when you're at -95dBm. sent from an underwater dust storm with my S5
  15. Yup, that's confirmed broadcasting already. You should become a premier member and see all the amazing information Eucker87 has assembled in the Milwaukee Market premier thread. Also, check my signature for tips on how to post screenshots through Imgur without using up storage here.
  16. Do note that you can't get phone calls on "LTE only" I do wish we could change band priorities on the S5 for that initial scan. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
  17. Not sure where this fits best to ask, but I'll ask it here as it seems relevant to the Spark network specifically, other threads were dead in 2012 before LTE was available/widespread. Does the "Sprint Connections Optimizer" (that is put on all Android phones) have anything to do with remembering LTE towers and/or reconnecting to those towers faster if turned on (on Spark/NV 1.0/NV 2.0 LTE towers)? I understand its goal was originally to help people connect to WiFi networks, but it also helped WiMax connections by toggling fauxG on. So I never used it as it was most likely a battery drainer that was unnecessary as I leave WiFi on all the time. BUT, with Triband phones....I was curious if anyone knew if it helped with the LTE connections by remembering areas that have live LTE. I've been running it a few days on and a few days off and perhaps see my LTE connection come back faster with SCO enabled. This could also be due to on going work in my area that might fluctuate my signals. Just curious if/what experience others had.
  18. Yes. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
  19. I've had the S5 now for about a week or so and I can say that the dBms are worse than the S4, BUT I get very usable connection when on LTE even with -117 or lower. I only drop to 3G in locations my S4 had 3G and no LTE. So all in all, I think the dBm conversation is true that it's weaker but it still works about the same. Otherwise, what bugs me about this phone is the same old Samsung laziness in updating apps for new phones or hold over bugs in software. For example, the "blocking mode", which I use every night, no longer turns off the notification led when it disables the notifications. This is a ridiculous omission on their part and now I stare at a blinking led all night on my night stand. Why does it not work as it did on the S4? Second, the Bluetooth car kit pairing on CDMA versions of S5 still doesn't work with Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep Uconnect stereos appropriately. It's a specific issue with Samsung phones and CDMA networks. It's perpetuated itself in every Samsung software version since 4.1.2, despite Samsung and Sprint knowing about it. Third, they moved the voice control of camera BACK into the ridiculous S-Voice application. They moved this in and out from S-Voice in earlier updates for S3 and S4. Point being I can't stand S-Voice and would love to disable it, but can't any longer if I want to use the "cheese" command in the camera. This is a useful feature, S-Voice is not. Fourth, the rear camera is spectacular. Love the low light, HDR stuff. Why is the front facing camera such garbage??!?! Seriously, can't pack more than 2mp in there? Can't have it have proper white balance? Can't have it take a picture without it being super grainy if you're not in direct sunlight? This camera sensor hasn't changed since the S3. Fifth, the USB door is annoying and I know we all feel like we're going to snap it off. I know why it's necessary and that's fine because I love that it's waterproof. Why not just put a wireless charging back on this by default??? Because the they can get $30 out of users that care, that's why. It's greedy and lazy. You covet Apple so much, just crush them with every feature they don't have. Wireless charging should be a standard. These things are annoying and lazy by Samsung. But I'm a slave to it because of removable battery. So I'm just going to piss and moan about it but there's nothing I can do. Don't get me wrong, the phone is great and incredibly fast but seriously, fix these things. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
  20. Very random question, but any of you current Sprint S5 users also have a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep Uconnect stereo? If so, I have a specific thing for you to test if you have a couple minutes.
  21. Ooooh, noice, camera capture while on a call. That comes up more than I thought it ever would in my life......
  22. I can't see this without root access, so they can't be moved from phone to phone easily. Perhaps when Mike has time, he can make an import / export database function into the app itself, which would be the cleanest method. Or keep the sqlite database on the user storage so it's accessible without root.
  23. For those Premier Sponsors following this thread, please check out the new Milwaukee Market Premier thread. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5823-milwaukee-market-including-madison-premier-thread/ Uecker87's been doing some good work over there already.
  24. okay, I'm back guys. I understand now what drives this site, where the $ goes, and thank you Robert for your explanations and understanding. Not sure where all these messages keep going, but you'll see this via email perhaps. Everyone should donate money here to keep this going.
