  1. Some of Sprint network guys spoke recently regarding the company LTE plans. In a quick-fire presentation giving a holistic view of LTE strategy, Marquardt shared insight into Sprint’s view of LTE-Advanced enabling technologies, which is being commonly referred to as Spark. Spark is an enhanced LTE technology and spectrum integration initiative, which combines Tri-band/HD voice devices, TDD, Carrier aggregation, MIMO and 8T8R. Marquardt addresses the audience at LTE North America Marquardt addresses the audience at LTE North America “We have 2 carrier aggregation deployments live in the network at the moment, and we’re working on 3 more for next year. FDD/TDD combinations are something we’re looking at for spectrum optimisation, and something that will really benefit the customer experience.” http://mvnoblog.com/sprint-to-take-its-time-over-volte/
  2. S: Sprint's (S) CEO Marcelo Claure Presents at Wells Fargo Technology, Media & Telecom Conference (Transcript) http://m.seekingalpha.com/article/2675845?source=ansh The whole transcript of today conference call.
  3. He just mentioned the 3 20mhz carriers, he he didn't indicate a date, but I assume is still the same plant 2 20mhz this year a third one by summer 2015.
  4. Ok I heard the whole conference at work Summary: New plans coming in the coming weeks Mentioned sprint will be the best value on wireless, but not the cheapest. Asked about if he will ask for capital to softbank. He said the option is there, but he won't at this moment.. Asked about the relationship between Massa and himself, he said is spectacular, and that the Japanese is confident. The network, he mentioned sprint will deploy 3 20mhz on the 2.5ghz band, but is more concerned about LTE reliability than speed tests about faster network. Mentioned he is about to hire a lot talented wireless employees especially on network. Mentioned he wants to finish the 800mhz LTE roll out to improve coverage as soon as possible. Says he meet with the network guys everyday.
  5. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/sprint-ceo-marcelo-claure-speak-203000810.html Sprint Chief Executive Officer Marcelo Claure will speak at the 2014 Wells Fargo Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in New York City on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m.
  6. It gives them scale something Massa wants. It gives the wireless unit a fresh start with consumers. Even though sprint has been under a new owner for over a year, regular consumers assume is still the same old sprint.
  7. Bottom line Sprint needs to buff up the network not only in the five boroughs, but the whole region, and eventually their whole footprint. I hope Massa takes some of those Alibaba billions, get billions from the banks, and buy Vodafone. Then rename Sprint, Softbank mobile to Vodafone. This will be Verizon ghost from the past come to hunt them. The Sprint brand is seriously damaged.
  8. They conducted many tests in long Island, and others new York suburbs which sprint LTE, and coverage still leave a lot to be desired in those places. The fact of the matter is over 30% of sprint towers lack fiber backhaul. That is in the five boroughs, and new York suburbs alone. Long Island is still a work in progress. Sprint will not move up in the metrics until they complete the network upgrades, and every tower has fiber backhaul. RootMetrics have it right, Verizon, and tmobile are the top dogs in the new York metro area. The only thing I disagree is sprint finishing last on voice calls. They might had sucked on data, but voice has always been strong.
  9. Does anyone knows when Robert will update the network vision running list? I understand he is busy with work, but the list hasn't been updated since September. Thanks
  10. Tmobile Ebitda crashed, and burned. Those uncarriers policies will go out the door soon. I expect them to keep only the non contract policy. My guess is that they want to keep the buying contracts, and others uncarriers policies until they pass sprint for number 3.
  11. I will give them the benefit of doubt, but if the they don't add Postpaid customers in quarter 4th then it will show people don't care about their cheap plans, but network. A wireless firm brand is defined by its network. Also Marcelo is giving Wall Street a negative vibe by cutting 1 billion from capex. Everyone knows sprint is in this hole because of their network.
  12. Exactly, the Postpaid base keep shrinking, That is where the money is. Even with cheap 50 dollars iPhone deals etc, sprint lost over 500k Postpaid customers. It's is the darn network that people care. Lack of fiber backhaul to many sites especially in markets launched, poor sites spacing in places like Michigan, Alabama etc. Also a terrible phone lock policy. Those customers that jumped to sprint during the iPhone 4S launch in 2011,sprint refused to unlock those devices even after those customers fulfilled their contracts obligations. In a cutthroat business as wireless, you don't rub customers the wrong way. That is
  13. I don't see the 2.5ghz deployment accelerating at least in the Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia Siemens markets. Those two are facing a huge shortage of equipment. Having said that I think by June of 2015 Chicago and San Francisco will be sprint best markets. I think they will rise to the top on RootMetrics. Samsung is basically getting that job done.
  14. He, and the new Japanese guy head of network should be in a Cisco conference call with the cable companies head of Business class. Why in glue hell I paid for fiber contracts, and many of my towers are still not wired with it.
  15. If many sites on exciting LTE markets are still lacking fiber backhaul, they will continue to lose Postpaid customers. The lack of fiber backhaul is causing customers to flee.
  16. 55 millions by the end the 3rd quarter. Team pink is upset with passing them.

  18. Net Operating Revenue of $8.5 billion; Operating Loss of $192 million and Adjusted EBITDA* of nearly $1.4 billion Total Sprint platform net additions of 590,000 Postpaid net losses of 272,000 Prepaid net additions of 35,000 Wholesale net additions of 827,000 Brand repositioned as the Best Value in Wireless Postpaid phone gross additions grew 37 percent month-over-month in September and increased year-over-year for the first time in 2014 Continued improvement in network performance and 4G LTE expansion Recent studies by RootMetrics® see improvement in data network reliability and speeds from a year ago Sprint received 94 first-place or shared first-place RootScore® Awards for reliability, call and/or text performance in cities across the country1 4G LTE coverage expands to 260 million people
  19. What speed do you get from that 8T8R. I go around that area a lot since the Lincoln square movie theater is right there.
  20. Aren't the clear sites in NY using Huawei equipment, and Sprint suppose to replace them with 8T8R equipment.
  21. Even the Verizon AWS band is slowing at a rapid pace. In March I was getting 70 megabits down, now I am getting only 38 down from the same spot. This was conducted in a residential area so I could image in other places. The 2.5ghz is sprint ace in the hole, so it's just down to execution.
  22. Because they [sprint] have so much spectrum, they have the ability to offer very, very high bit rates," Murphy said. Nokia has held "a lot of discussions" with its other carrier customers regarding ways they might compete against Sprint if serious marketing battles over peak data rates come to fruition, Murphy said during a breakfast meeting with a handful of reporters on the sidelines of CTIA's Super Mobility Week event. http://www.fiercewireless.com/tech/story/sprints-ability-offer-blazing-peak-speeds-worries-rivals-says-nokia-exec/2014-09-15 The Nokia Siemens executive basically said that Sprint can blow out everyone regarding speed and capacity.
